Lincoln fa cup
Watched the game whilst checking out the forum. Multi screening? Thought they were superb. Not 'non league' in terms of skill and footballing intelligence. Is the gap between league and non league narrower than ever?

Re: Lincoln fa cup
They've fallen a fair way since they were in League One (or was it League Two?) back when I was at uni. So I'm really pleased for them - hope this coincides with them climbing the leagues.

Yes, just doubted myself for a second. I remember they had a manager called Keith Alexander who sadly passed away all too young. The descent started not long after that if I remember rightly.Fretters wrote:League 1, I remember going to watch us play at Sincil bank in the league.
Re: Lincoln fa cup
I thought Lincoln were excellent, and the goal was top class, but Ipswich were absolutely terrible ... no fight and no organisation, which is just not what you expect from a Mick McCarthy side

Re: Lincoln fa cup
I am sure it was January 1976 we played them in an FA Cup replay and I went down there and we beat them 1-0, think I have the right year?
Re: Lincoln fa cup
You must have been at Uni down there around the same time as me (2001-2004). I used to live on the first street off Sincil Bank and used to watch them a fair bit. I went to the Play Off Final versus Bournemouth in Cardiff; 2003 I think it was. They had a very decent side for League 2, but slowly players got poached away and the slide began.IndigoLake wrote:Yes, just doubted myself for a second. They had two or three players I thought we could have taken a punt on; Paul Morgan, Richard Butcher (another one who died too young like Keith Alexander) and Gary Taylor-Fletcher to name three.
I'm delighted they achieved what they did last night. Brilliant for the City. Hopefully they'll be back in the league next season.

Re: Lincoln fa cup
Watch them quite a lot now when the Clarets are away.
They brought in the Cowley brothers in the summer who had taken Braintree to the play-offs last season.
The Cowleys brought Raggett and Woodyard with them and made three or four great signings .
This squad if they get promotion would challenge in League 2 if they can keep the players at the Club
The big problem is finishing top as only one get automatic promotion and he next four go in the play-offs which is a massive lottery.
They are only two games from Wembley in the FA Trophy and together with the FA Cup I hope this does not affect their chances of topping the National League.

Yes, I was there not long after you from 2005 to 2008! Going back in April for the first time since 2008. Can't wait!jlup1980 wrote:You must have been at Uni down there around the same time as me (2001-2004). I used to live on the first street off Sincil Bank and used to watch them a fair bit.
