More book suggestions please

Post by kaptin1 » Wed Jan 18, 2017 9:34 pm

A while ago I asked for some good non-fiction book suggestions and was pointed towards Hellfire and Forgotten Voices of the Great War, which I have since read and enjoyed. Have also read a lot of Bill Bryson and Michael Lewis. Now looking for something new if anyone has any good suggestions? I'm not too fussy, just want something that is interesting to read and not too hard going.

Guy Martin's latest "When you dead, you dead" is pretty interesting once you get over his "professional Lincolnshire lad" schtick.
And, as you can imagine, it's not hard going at all.........

Rejected by Peter Richardson looks like a good read.

Was given "A matter of Life and death," by Jim White and thought Oh No another boring list of the obvious events in the football history.
But its a fascinating read you will not want to put down. Sorry about the cliché.

Rowland White's, Into The Black, about building the Space Shuttle and about how its first flight nearly ended in disaster is a good read. Same as Vulcan 607 by the same author.

Left foot forward - Garry Nelson. Tells the story of a year in the life of a lower league journeyman footballer
The Disappearing Spoon - Sam Kean - The history of the periodic table, it might sound boring but it has lots of interesting stories about individual elements.
The making of the atomic bomb - Richard Rhodes. As the title suggests.
