Ahh Dusty, top fella. I knew him well.
Known as Biffy to his even closer circle, of which i had the privilege.

Being a younger fan who would of probably had the same reaction of those on the coach back then - That was a brilliant read and insight into one of the men I have been told numerous times started turning the tide of our downward spiral.

Nice piece, thank you, CT.
Re: ARTICLE: Remembering Dusty Miller
Excellent article CT.
Brian was always a nice person to have a chat with, on the few occasions I met him he also, always had a smile on his face.
I will make sure my grandson reads the article, just to support the stories I've told him about the "Glory Years"

A great article and tribute to a great Burnley man, warm, understanding and oh so true. Many building blocks go into the reasons we all love the Clarets but Brian Miller was a very important corner-stone. Thanks Tony.

It's incredible when you look back. Joined the club as an office boy in the early 1950s and was with us right through to 1997 apart from a spell of just over three years.clerkenwell.claret wrote:He was a lynchpin of our special club for such a long time.

Yes, that's a great read. As you say, CT it's a real shame he didn't see us in our current great state
both on and off the field.
Now and again, the telly shows that great goal he scored at the CF end, a twenty five yarder.
Can't remember who it was against. God bless Brian.

I'm not sure who it was against but I can recall the goal on TV - shade of kit looks like maybe Man City

Re: ARTICLE: Remembering Dusty Miller
Thanks CT - a great tribute to a great man who I was also privileged to know a little and discuss BFC with over a pint.
That moment at Wembley when he led the team out in front of 30odd thousand Clarets was one of the most special times of my life. It was like we had come back from the dead and we were there in our massed ranks to shout it defiantly and proudly as one. That photo is probably my favourite.

Re: ARTICLE: Remembering Dusty Miller
That was a very moving article. Thanks ever so much.
It just make me think how much we owe to those who have claret in their blood. Whatever he said and did on that famous day in May 1987 meant that we rnow here enjoying our best season for 40 years. My dad died in 1983 on the way home for the Turf and told me days before that we would never again see the lads in the top flight. I doubt many would have disagreed at the time.
Savour the present guys.

Re: ARTICLE: Remembering Dusty Miller
Summit - we were a 4th division side when my dad died - I always thought he deserved better than to go out with us down there.
I don't know what Brian was like that day but he showed real calmness which must have been vital. I spoke with him around three days before and this giant of a man I'd never seen so nervous.
I don't know how he did it to keep us in the league with the players he had. I always think the fact that he cared so much was one thing that helped him to help us through.

Top quality as usual CT but also very moving about a true stalwart of the club. An exemplar of why so many of us care so much.

Re: ARTICLE: Remembering Dusty Miller
Excellent read Tony, I was unfortunate to never see him play, but remember the three days well Spurs in the cup and the Orient game and Wembley in the Sherpa, all three days unforgettable for different reasons but not unusual that Brian was involved with all three, always seemed down to earth type of guy, Great memories.
Re: ARTICLE: Remembering Dusty Miller
I think it's just a week ago that I first learned that his teammates called him Dusty - I suppose it's to be expected, but I never remember him being called that as manager.
Re: ARTICLE: Remembering Dusty Miller
Was there at the beginning of my Burnley fandom.
