Re: Ashley Barnes
Only just seen this. If Barnes left I'd be absolutely gutted. He's my favourite player because he's a nightmare for the opposition and he has done brilliantly to come back from the injuries he's suffered. Plus he's scored some crucial goals! I think he's too important to sell for that sort of money. NO DEAL.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Some people watch a different game to me.
Barnes contribution to our set up is massive, I am not going to harp on about what I think his qualities because those who dont see it wont agree anyway.
5 million has a 1 missing from the front of it.
I Second that NO DEAL

If this is a genuine offer, Villa can go f*ck themselves.

Re: Ashley Barnes
How good is it this......
Go back in time and if a £5m bid from Villa was being tabled for one of our players, we would have known he was probably one of our best players that was halfway down the M6 with us thanking our lucky stars we could stay in business....
These days...we can all laugh and joke about these things...

Re: Ashley Barnes
Can't like posts for some reason, but this. His edge has made the difference in a number of games. To succeed in the Prem, you need to "have something". Barnes does. As excellent a finisher as Rhodes is, he's yet to prove that he has enough of anything to succeed in the Prem.Vegas Claret wrote:Barnes isn't just about goals, his contribution to Gray's goals, his contribution to getting us 20 yards further up the pitch when we are under pressure have been massive for us this season - I would go as far as saying playing him instead of Vokes has been the difference between wins and draws this season
Barnes just get better and better, has the ability to work things out and improve over time- a very valuable skill in itself.
Wouldn't sell him for $10m.

Good postDarnhill Claret wrote:Barnes, Vokes and Gray are all integral to 'the group' and each of them have found their 'footballing spiritual home'. All combinations can be used by Sean to suit the opponents on any given day. Chasing a game, we might have all 3 on together occasionally. Having a favourite out of the three, doesn't mean we have to have a downer on any of the other 2.
I do prefer posts where I get the feeling that we're all in this together, rather than people constantly trying to identify 'the weakest link' and wanting to change all the time. Then demanding consistent performances!!

He is an exceptional player - with a really nice first touch.

Barnes situation now trending on Twitter.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Amusing comments on Villa forums. Seems they don't rate him. Vastly underrated player, and an important cog in our system for me. I wouldn't entertain selling him short of a really very silly offer.

What a stupid post. Isit only Coventry fans who can have high hopes for him?ecc wrote:"I have high hopes for Agyei"

19 year old, was linked with Chelsea before we picked him up. Has played regular football and scored goals at League One level at 19.
Now linked with a move to a Championship club on loan, He has had a better career to date than most of our youth prospects at 19, when Jay Rod was 19 I'm sure he was loaned out too a 2nd or 3rd division Scottish club. I believe he could be a good un, I wouldn't want his path to the first team blocked by stacking strikers we don't need, we had Hennings Juke Vokes Barnes Gray Long last year, 6 first team strikers. Hang me now though for having high hopes for one of our young signings.
Btw this relates to the Barnes situation in that I believe we need another first team striker for next season and I would like to see a 1 in 1 out policy, to remain with 3 first team strikers (possibly 4 if one is a loanee). I would rather we sold Vokes, he lacks the quality on the ball and link us play that Barnes offers.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Barnes is a big player for us and I'm sure we wouldn't sell him unless a crazy offer came in. To an outsider, his scoring record will look poor but he offers us so much more than just that.
Re: Ashley Barnes
I think the thing most of you guys are missing here is that Barnes is probably one of the modest earners so if there is any truth in this looks like a pay rise on the cards or we could be at risk of losing him.
Hopefully nothing in it, Barnes is crucial to our play

Selling one of our only three strikers for money we don't need won't happen.

A great reminder of how much of a nasty plonker the poster Walton is.

Re: Ashley Barnes
I’ve said this before, regardless of what league we are in or what position we are in, there is always a role for Ashley Barnes at Burnley.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Three years later from the start of the thread, and he's still here, and still getting amongst the opposition. He's been nothing short of tremendous in his time at Burnley.

Must be a coincidence that as Burnley begin to find there way in the season Barnes is also finding his way again.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Ash has been so important to us. A much better footballer than he is given credit for and you just know that the opposition hate playing against him. As ever, there are those that think that a player coming back from a long injury can just jump back in at 100%. I predict that when Jack comes back he will be a target of the moaners for his first few games.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Barnes cost 400k, just remember that, and in his time at Burnley he's played in over 160 PL games, and scored almost 40 goals, and that doesn't include all his other contributions to the BFC cause, such as getting under the opposition's skin, he typifies what we're all about under Dyche. however as well as his winding up of defenders, he possesses a good footballing brain, and at his best he's better technically than many folks give him credit for, hence why SD feels there is still a role for him to play at Burnley, even if he's not automatically first-choice these days, he'll always be a useful option depending on the opposition we're facing.
