Turf Moor
Is there a stadium in The Uk with a better setting?
The views from the upper longside, upper Jimmy Mc and even the Cricketfield are unrivalled. Views over the moors, the surroundings. Outstanding in all four seasons. Snow, sun, even howling wind and vertical rain. Views over old mills and the town. Views of terraced roofs, the canal and other links to a distant past. Views of the roads out to Manchester, Lancashire and Yorkshire.
Views from Jimmy Mc and Longside of three uneven, mishapen, different sized stands from different eras.
Plonked in the middle of a residential area yet right by town. Heartbeat of the community.
I can't think of many grounds that offer all this.
Youve got your new grounds like Derby and Bolton and Reading that are all similar in style and location on industrial estates.
Even old grounds like Villa and Spurs and Everton are fantastic bit dont have the same feel as The Turf. Maybe its biased? But even Alan Green who has commentated the world over acknowledged that The Turf is his favourite ground to commentate at.
If we were to move I think a huge part of the clubs soul and identity would be lost. Turf Moor is just another thing that sets our club apart.

Re: Turf Moor
Bradfords Valley Parade always strikes me as being in the middle of a residential street, although it is in a more industrial area I guess.
I love the old picture showing the terraced houses facing the Bob Lord stand whenever it was, literally a stones throw away from some people's front door!

It still is. I reckon anyone with even a mediocre throwing arm could get a stone from the houses on Anne Close to the door of the Centre Spot.

It's the favourite commentary position of 5 Live's John Murray.
The only place I can think of to rival the view is the new Juventus stadium where there's a stunning view of the Alps from the concourse. But that's from outside the actual stadium, not from my seat like at the Turf.

Adams Park (Wycombe) is very scenic, with that hillside covered in trees.

Hate soul less stadiums on industrial estates like Bolton, Reading and the like. Stadiums like ours Bradford and Newcastle make it feel like part of the community.

Blend of old and new. Big and small. Used to love the old Maine Road ground too. Completely thrown together.

Re: Turf Moor
I agree about Newcastle. The ground really towers over the city as you approach on the train. Really impressive. I remember Jimmy Armfield commenting on the view from the top of the longside and saying he liked it because the ground is part of the town and modern football began in working class towns like Burnley. I'd be devastated if we ever left the turf.

Re: Turf Moor
The Turf is on a par with Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, and Lambeau Field in North America. Nobody would even suggest replacing those 3 hallowed venues, and neither should anybody about Turf Moor.

If only i used a 'proper' camera
Majority of them were just 'in the moment' snaps and with no fancy equipment or software. Find that trying to plan a picture usually doesnt get half as good an image.
