Wow, I didnt mean this protest kicking off but more in general. Are the streets full of angry protestors or is it being blown out of actual proportion?

They're protests. So lots of chanting and placard waving. I'm just getting tired of people conflating rioters with protesters and assumed you were doing the same. If i was wrong then fair enough.

You got it wrong I guess.

My thoughts exactly.

Truth is though, special interest groups using identity politics like this aren't actually out for a genuine authentic progressive cause, mearly to further their own left wing agendas.

Otherwise there would be global women's protests over Saudi Arabia, for example in its treatment of women.

I bet women who live in countries where they really are oppressed wish they could protest. Or indeed that those protesting in the west did more to help them.

Trump has implied it's ok to sexually assault women. He has said he will defund Planned Parenthood, which provides cervical smears & mammograms for women who could not otherwise afford them. I can see why they want to let him know what they think of these ideas.

Result for me today..... Mrs decided to go protesting at the NC Capitol building. Left me to watch soccer. She's just arrived back, managed to not get arrested, and I'm just finishing off watching City/Spurs - my 3rd game today. Real result!

I find it very offensive that certain special interest groups, usually centred on the left, claim to speak for entire sections of the population. The " Gay " vote, Black and Asian voters, the elderly vote, womens votes are all claimed by these self appointed people...as if none of them had a mind of their own and could think for themselves...

Clearly many women voted for Trump, as did Black and LBGT voters...

That is what is being discussed on this thread. Keep up Turtle, you're spending so much time scouring the internet looking for obscure causes to latch on to, you're not concentrating on what is being said.

He/She is choosing to be offended by people who are protesting their cause. I think that's pretty funny.

What obscure causes have i latched onto?

Exactly, they've every right to protest peacefully, no-one should have a problem with that
If I from my slightly right of centre perspective, started posting things on here regarding, for example, racial profiling of airport passengers or the advantages of leaving the " Single market ", and I then added " and I know I speak for everybody on here " you'd probably be the first one on here saying " Oh no you don't and here's why... "

" Up the Clarets " is a fine example of the point I was trying, perhaps clumsily, to make. The fact that we all support the Clarets, does not make us a homogenous mass... a dinner party with you, Rowls, Hampstead, Claret-Moffit, John McGreal, and me would be interesting... ;)

Women; you can't live with them and you can't shoot them legally. Men have a really raw deal, but every man should have a subservient female. Get over it; that's the way it works. INCOMING!!

The women protesting in London about another country should be charged for the police instead of the tax payer.

Fine, protest but go to America and do it where it might count and not burden our taxes.

White, straight men have nothing to worry about

I've no idea what Trump intends to do if you are not white, male and straight, but people who are not white, male and straight are concerned because of some of the stuff Trump says and the background of some of the people who he has picked for his cabinet.

Thats why they are protesting, because its taken them a very long time to get the equality that they deserve, and they worry that it might be taken away by a bunch of men with outdated ideas.

Anyway, demonstrations are a sign of a healthy democracy, so no problems with it here!

Guys, this thread title is wrong, the protests are actually not over Trump, they are a protest of Christian oppression. A global womens protest of the constant and destructive oppression western women face every day in the face of their christian overlords.

I know this for a fact because IT called me stupid for not knowing so.
Imploding Turtle wrote:I'll make this simple for you. You were saying that it's terrible that Islam oppresses women in one thread, and then dismissing women who are marching against the prospect of Christian oppression in another thread.

He's being a moron. He knows the reason it's a women's and not a generic protest is because Trump's government will be specifically targetting women's rights and access to healthcare on religious grounds. He's just trying to deflect from his own massive hypocrisy in dismissing this fight against the imposition of political theology by Christians, while criticising Muslims in another thread for their imposition of political theology.

Try not to get sucked in by his imbecilic utterings. He's angry that he's been caught being a hypocrite so he's lashing out.

madonna was there, embarrassingly reading from cue cards, couldnt be bothered to learn her lines.
she delivered an uninspiring speech, as folk shuffled about behind her. the turn out was impressive, so many there, they couldnt even march, because the entire route was packed.
its the remain thing, only in the US. democratic system has enabled his victory, there is nothing they can do.

According to the Huffington post, women all over the world, including Imploding Charlie, are offended by Trump's proposal of 6 weeks maternity leave for women.
Apparently this means he thinks women should be the ones to stay at home looking after the baby while the man continues to be the bread winner
