Arsenal fans booing Defour!

Post by WestMidsClaret » Sun Jan 22, 2017 5:17 pm

Why?!? Did he do something wrong? Should he have said to the ref "don't worry about the 2 footed tackle, let's crack on"! I know it happens a lot but some fans at certain clubs are spoiled and haven't got much of a clue! They should be booing Xhaka for being stupid and there's a reason why them sort of tackles have been outlawed.

Southern twonks!

Personally dont think it was a red. The games gone soft. Maybe a foul but a red for fouls like that are ruining the game. Not that it was defours fault.

Reckless, 2 footed lunge which cleaned him out. Lucky to avoid serious injury, red card offence.

Arsenal are an odd club. Under Wenger they have got way more than their fair share of red cards. Many for dangerous challenges.

They booed every Burnley player, including the subs.

To try to balance the views on this thread I think KRBFC is wrong. I personally believe that they booed only 7 of our players and two of the subs.

Ten years ago it wouldnt have even been a yellow. The games much poorer for that and a lack of players like keane and vieira. It was a tough challenge. But he didnt injure him and barely made contact.

So you think the game is poorer for outlawing tackles where the player jumps in with two feet, out of control. I'm glad I never played football against you!

2 footed challenge off the ground.

It's the absolute definition of a red card!

I think the game is poorer for not allowing tackles where a player takes the ball and not man. I think the game is poorer for not allowing tackles where player takes ball first then man.

It wasnt or rather it shouldnt be a red.

So what you are saying is, if he catches Defour full on and breaks his leg, it's a red card, but if he plays the ball first and then carries on to break his leg, it's OK! Incredible.

40 years or so ago hacking someone from behind was acceptable and only warranted a tellling off at most.

The game has moved on and laws have changed in most cases for the better. With the lack of protection afforded by modern boots they have made it a red to avoid lots of injuries imo.

Bring back ankle length boots and Bamboo shin pads!

But he didny catch him full on. Cech didnt catch grays penalty full on and it went in.

If its a red then mee for the pen is for kicking someone in the head. Incidentally i dont think that was a penalty either.

For balance Burnley fans were booing kone when he was blatantly injured at turf. Football fans tend to have a one sided view.

Out of control two footed lunge which could have caused serious injury = red card. One footed sliding tackle = yellow at worst. Silly error and the right outcome.

Technically correct decision; harsh maybe, but correct.

Perhaps the Arse fans were booing Defour as he didn't roll over 24 times and they thought that was poor play from him?

I felt it was a harsh red. That said we should have taken advantage of our good fortune.

He did jump with two feet, but when he did so he was a way away from defour. By the time he reached defour, both feet were on the ground and it wasn't all that horrific or dangerous. But by the book, he has to go.

Similar to this but I never understood why Stoke fans boo Ramsay for nearly having hit foot ripped off by Shawcross.

Might be wrong but sounded like there were boos when Marney was stretchered off.

That was because Marney had fouled their player and got himself a yellow card as well, I believe.

Did we have someone sent from for a dangerous tackle in the incident?! If a player is feigning injury or the fans think he is then I understand the booing but if someone has been sent off for a stupid 2 footed tackle that is being outlawed in the game you shouldn't really be trying to defend it by booing the person on the end of it! Especially when most grounds nowadays show replays of incidents on their screens straight away!

I agree a lot of fans do have a one sided view.

That makes sense. Be bit rich if they were booing a player stretchered off given any bad injuries they have received in the past almost required national mourning.
