The league itself doesn't have a title sponsor. They're only going to be the sponsor of a couple of awards.

So the FA Carling Premiership, FA Barclaycard Premiership, FA Barclays Premiership and the barclays Premier League weren't called such because they sponsored the PL.

From this season the Premier League decided to follow the NBA and NFL in not having a title sponsor in an attempt to have a cleaner look
