Your first Clarets away game.
What was your first AWAY game following the Clarets?
Mine was Boxing Day 1970 at Blackpool. A 1-1 draw. I was 9 at the time, I think we went in the South stand paddock, but not sure.

Same here
I ran onto pitch at half time to get Ralph Coates autograph. The only one I hadn't got.could never catch him arriving at turf.
My dad went loopy.

Port Vale in FA Cup 1977/78. lost 2-1
We took approx 10,000 from what I am led to believe (I was too young to gauge it in those days)
Think my first away win was Mansfield in the Anglo Scottish Cup the year we won it.

My dad took me on what I thought at the time was Stoke but it could've been Forest. I was about 12 so it was a few years into the Ternent era. Don't know the score, think it was a draw.
Saw us win away for the first time at Preston last year =0

Penrith, 17 November 1984, 9 nil to the clarets. I remember we actually scored direct from a corner too.

Bristol rovers, October ish, 1993. The game was played at Twerton Park and we lost 3-1. We'd left long before Rooster Russell scored our late and useless consolation. I think my second 'away' game was Wembley at the end of the season. Turned out alright in the end....

Bury 26 Jan 1980 (4th round FA Cup). A 1-0 defeat.

Cannot remember mine.
My sons was the Friendly at Accrington about 7/8 seasons ago. Just before his 2nd birthday.
His first proper away game was Villa away ( think in the cup ) he was about 4.
Was a long night as Villa played in claret & blue and trying to explain what was going on, who was who to him and why we didnt want the claret ones to score was a nightmare.

Mid sixties Spurs away .hitched hiked got there at half time.let in for free as theyd cashed up.
Push my way down to the front just in time to see Andy Lochhead leap like a salmon and score. 1-0 to the Burnley. We won and qualified for European adventure the following season It took me hours to get home finally arriving just in time for Sunday dinner at1pm.
It's true you never forget your first games.
Unfortunately I have never seen a league win at the Lane.
But I did see Marvin Sordell score, a very rare sight

62 or 63. At Deadwood. We won, as usual, 3-1. Crowd was so big us kids were allowed to sit in front of the wall behind the goal. Jimmy Mac scored a pen at that end. Brilliant.

Sadly mine was at Ewood in 1961/62 - we took the lead with a Ray Pointer goal but sadly were beaten 2-1.

Mine also at Ewood Park in the title winning season of 59-60. Lost 3-2 and one of our goals was an og scored by Bryan Douglas, their English international winger. Sat in the Riverside stand towards the Blackburn End with my dad.
The 4-4 draw at Stoke, mentioned earlier by Buxtonclaret, was I think the first game I'd seen us play not wearing Claret shirts and of course had Jimmy Mc playing for them.

Re: Your first Clarets away game.
Blackpool in the cup mid-seventies. I'd be about 12 years old.
I remember them scoring from a corner. Gerry Payton turned round to pick the ball out of the net and caught my eye. He had a look on his face which seemed to me to say 'sorry, I did my best'.
Lost the game 1-0 but remember that look which made me think 'they care almost as much as I do' - ha ha.

Semi final of the fa cup 1974 at Hillsborough v Geordies. Leppings Lane end.
When macdonald headed his 2nd I burst into tears!
There were some young geordies lads on the other side of the fence that oined me all the 2nd half.!!!
My uncle who wouldn't go on motorways drove back on A roads
The silent drive back thru Halifax, hebden bridge and tod was grim to say the least.!

11 October 1952 we lost 2-4 at Blackpool with Billy Elliott and Les Shannon scoring for the Clarets.
My son's first away match was 16 December 1972 when we lost 0-1 at Bristol City. I was in the RAF and stationed in Somerset at the time so it was an easy journey.

Ewood Park in ?1983? You know, the one where our fans "removed" some of the roof?!
I think I was in the stand down the side of the pitch though...I was about 8 or 9 and proper scared that day.
I think the players / teams were taken off and Dobbo or someone similar had to appeal to the fans for calm.
And we lost 2-1!

Oldham away during the 79/80 relegation season lost 2-1 Tony Arins scored our goal. Seem to think it was a screamer. We were defo in all yellow I remember that.
I wasn't a frequent away traveller in the 80s a couple a season maybe and I am fairly certain the first time I saw us win away was at Preston in the Sherpa Van Northern Area Final.. Oghani were going to Wembey Oghani

Re: Your first Clarets away game.
I had to go back and check the fixtures. Turns out my first away game was preston 2-3 Burnley vs my former favourite player Kurt Nogan (1997? I forgot to check)
I remember it not for being my first away match but for seeing us score in injury time and going crazy.
I was young and asked my dad a few embarrassing questions about what we were chanting at Nogan.

My first away game I can actually remember was Wolves away 1965, we won 2-1 and it took us another 40 years to get a win there.
Only could attend Easter games and night matches until I started going properly in 1971, and have been going home and away ever since. My dad had a shop and had to work Saturdays, until he sold it in 1971.

Re: Your first Clarets away game.
Mine was Bradford away in October 92 I think.
Sat in the home end, possibly in the press box. A Scottish bloke in front of us clocked that we were Burnley fans and launched into a tirade, and was removed from his seat by a steward.
Lost 1-0.

1967 Man City, we lost 4-2 and I was a gutted 11 year old!
This was my 1st away game on my own with a mate (Stewart Nuttall, Lionel St jnr School)
Imagine...11 years old and going to an away match on the coach???
I also remember from the same year Everton away 1-1 & Man United 1-1 (Coates) although I did go to lots of away games back then with a clarets mad uncle & siblings but maybe a half dozen on my own.
