I am so glad that there is no "s" on the end of that name.
You nearly gave me a heart attack.

Saw his son play for rangers against st johnstone a couple of years ago. Was the second best player on the pitch.
The best was so e left back for st johnstone. Ginger bloke. Brian somet. Used to play for Burnley.

Sadly, the one with the S on the end was very close to a recent heart attack, and hopefully is now on the mend. Both have managed Grimsby too.Funkydrummer wrote:I am so glad that there is no "s" on the end of that name.

Best of luck to him. I'm assuming he has a fair bit of experience of identifying and/or bringing young players through with his former clubs.

At face value, good news. Its an important appointment.
I must say though that im slightly concerned that we appear to have gone down the line of appointing an old mate of Dyche's. We have done that before and it ended badly and it implies the first team manager having more input in youth affairs than i would like. I believe Law had done a decent job at Alfreton but i don't know what previous experience of youth Development he has.

CT
You could add to the article on him.
In the 3 years as Buxton manager, he dragged us back from the N C East leagues to the Northern Premier with two successive League and Presidents cup doubles.
Several young players he signed/loaned here went on to play at a higher level.
He's a bloody hero in these parts!

His acquisition will be due more to his link with Academy Manager Jonathan Pepper at Bradford than Sean Dyche I'd suspectclaretspice wrote:At face value, good news. Its an important appointment.

He's one of two appointments coming in, the other working at the younger level who I think has already started because he was with Pepper at Morecambe. Law has a good reputation and I think could be an outstanding appointment. He's replacing Kieran Scott.Buxtonclaret wrote:CT

He does have a good reputation.
Someone who eats, lives and breathes football.
His enthusiasm and dedication certainly rubbed off around here.
I wish him well!

Geoff McDougle also confirmed now. He was at Morecambe for the u23 game this week.
Re: ARTICLE: Former Bradford City boss Law is joining Clarets
Good luck to them both. We certainly need somebody who can take full advantage of our new facilities. Our youth/academy has been awful for long enough.

Tony, I see Nicky Law will also be responsible for monitoring our players out on loan, which is a position all PL clubs must now cover and which I think was recently mentioned on here in relation to Alan Curtis at Swansea.

Certainly reads as though this is a very good appointment and most welcome given the money spent on upgrading the training facilities.

Personally I like the huge amount of non league experience from Law - he will be aware of the gems that got away from academies - those that make it in non league will come ready toughened like so many of our recent strikers

Re: ARTICLE: Former Bradford City boss Law is joining Clarets
Just spotted that, but with Curtis it appears now to be his only job. I was surprised when I heard Nicky Law was coming given he was Alfreton manager but McDougle has been around academy recruitment for a while with a number of clubs.randomclaret2 wrote:Tony, I see Nicky Law will also be responsible for monitoring our players out on loan, which is a position all PL clubs must now cover and which I think was recently mentioned on here in relation to Alan Curtis at Swansea.

I assume Dave Baldwin was at Bradford City whilst Laws was manager, but could be wrong. Possibly a stronger link there.claretspice wrote:At face value, good news. Its an important appointment.
