It's the craze of publicity. I'm sure in pre0internet days people weren't half so anxious to shout "I know nothing about what I'm talking about, but listen to me anyway".

I think as much as I wanted him to succeed Juke has got off lightly.

Written by a Chelsea supporter then!
He'll be better after a period acclimating though.

If Ash is the worst we've signed S has done an even better job than I gave him credit for. Lazy and unsearched waste of space. I cannot believe people get well paid for total dross like this and yet people think people on incapacity or disability are the ones cheating a living.

"but you might remember him for his play-acting; he got Chelsea’s Matic sent off after he was tapped and fell to a ground – he should have won an Oscar for that performance"
That's brilliant, absolutely brilliant. And some dick will have been paid for writing that.
The problem is, all they want is clicks and I'm as guilty as everyone else for giving them what they want.

I refused to click it when I saw the caption picture of Barnes on Facebook.ClaretTony wrote:"but you might remember him for his play-acting; he got Chelsea’s Matic sent off after he was tapped and fell to a ground – he should have won an Oscar for that performance"

I learnt from the one yesterday about 'Northern Thugs' - these pointless and inaccurate articles are put out there to make people click them and then get their mates to click them by putting the link on various forums. The people who write these articles are actually much cleverer than they come across.
What I don't know the answer to is - how do they make money from people clicking on their BS articles.?

Usually get money from adverts on the page - they might get a set amount per 1000 times an advert is shown on their page - so the more clicks to the site the more they get paid.Sutton-Claret wrote:I learnt from the one yesterday about 'Northern Thugs' - these pointless and inaccurate articles are put out there to make people click them and then get their mates to click them by putting the link on various forums. I'm not an expert in SEO or anything either but surely more clicks to a page will also boost the sites google rankings etc?

And I've just, regrettably, remembered Nimani.

Ah Frederic Nimani.
Never saw him play, can anyone describe his time playing for us please?
No more than 10 words and without expletives if possible.

Fletcher, Nugent, Nimani, Paterson, Thompson, Sordell, Jutkiewicz and even, controversially perhaps, Sam Vokes have all fared worse for Burnley FC on a consistent basis in the Premier League than Ashley Barnes.

Re: Burnley's worst striker in the Premier League era... Apparently
I gave up after the first sentence described Barnes signing for us while we were supposedly in the PL in Jan 2014 (??) and he struggled to acclimatise - hard work when you're turning out every week in the Championship
Re: Burnley's worst striker in the Premier League era... Apparently
Nimani - wow ! Forgot all about him.
Marvin Sordell has just been saved from the ignominy
Pointless ignorant article like you say - but these days anyone can post any old sh-ite they want
In the "olden" says before t'internet we did have an equivalent -it was called the Sunday Sport !

Fletcher? I'm guessing you're on about Wes Fletcher?jedi_master wrote:Fletcher, Nugent, Nimani, Paterson, Thompson, Sordell, Jutkiewicz and even, controversially perhaps, Sam Vokes have all fared worse for Burnley FC on a consistent basis in the Premier League than Ashley Barnes.

No I mean Steven Fletcher (thought that might be a controversial one).KRBFC wrote:Fletcher? I'm guessing you're on about Wes Fletcher?
Missed absolute sitters in crucial games and whilst having a good season overall in 09/10, I would still say on a consistent basis Barnes has performed better for Burnley at this level over the course of this season and 14/15.

Ill-informed pap based on a misplaced vendetta. For 400k, Barnes has been fantastic for us...works hard, wins headers, great control, powerful right foot, scores goals, and most importantly, perhaps, whips the opposition into a frenzy. A sensational bit of business, and I hope he's with us for years to come.

I think you should withdraw Thompson. Wasn't he injured most of the season? Anyway, he scored more goals per minute played than anyone else in the remier that season.jedi_master wrote:Fletcher, Nugent, Nimani, Paterson, Thompson, Sordell, Jutkiewicz and even, controversially perhaps, Sam Vokes have all fared worse for Burnley FC on a consistent basis in the Premier League than Ashley Barnes.

Re: Burnley's worst striker in the Premier League era... Apparently
I disagree, I'd agree if you said Barnes has contributed more over his spell with us than Fletcher did in his spell though. Fletcher in 09 is a complete different animal to Barnes. Fletcher in a worse team IMO. From what I have seen on Fletcher these days Barnes is a better player currently.jedi_master wrote:No I mean Steven Fletcher (thought that might be a controversial one).
