Re: Snodgrass
I don't think the fee or Snodgrass's age really matter, give him a 4 year contract 2.5 for each year seems a fair price to me...he seems quite fit to me and will compliment our midfield quite well for the lenth of that contract.....it's a no brainer...hope it happensclaptrappers_union wrote:I would've preferred Brady personally, and £10m for someone approaching 30. Re: Snodgrass
You would expect he wants a large last wage and decent contact around the 45/50K mark for the price tag.
Re: Snodgrass
Seems like wages could be a barrier but Nixon won't know either. I'd hope - perhaps falsely- that we haven't been pursuing him unless we had some confidence of agreeing personal termsclaretandy wrote:Nixon says no chance, he wants big wages.

Does sound like we knew Brady wanted to go to Palace, so we switched our attentions to Snodgrass.

Re: Snodgrass
Hull have accepted a bid, but that isn't binding - if they get a better offer, they could un-accept it. It won't be a legally binding acceptance. On the other hand, accepting a bid and then withdrawing the acceptance won't do their reputation any good and would risk losing the deal.

Maybe the Brady deal is closer than we think and we are doing Hull a favour in making a bid to push West Ham to match us.

Re: Snodgrass
Clearly Cascarino still has us down for the drop. I'd have thought with the exception of WHU we are better bets for staying up than either Hull or Boro. For Hull to be selling the new gaffer there obviously feels that he needs the money to strengthen other areas.RingoMcCartney wrote:Talksport also saying.Tony cascarino saying" if he goes to burnley , you've got to ask, Hull, what are you doing!?"
This would be a real sign that we are deadly serious about making our way in the Premiership and almost certainly merely the fact that we're in for him will make other potential targets sit up and take notice.

Someone on here's probably stuck a tenner on it.
Maybe CT should organise something on here where everyone sticks a quid on where think he's gonna go and proceeds go to the youth foundation. Just to see how we can influence the bookies

Re: Snodgrass
Anybody thought that this is designed to ramp up the pressure on Norwich?
They need the money really if they're to reshape their squad and this might force them to accept our bid sooner if they can see we're serious about moving onto another target.

Re: Snodgrass
They don't have to unaccept it, all accepting a bid means is that they've given us permission to talk to their player to see if we can sort a deal out. They can accept as many bids from as many clubs as they want and it's down to where the player wants to go.dsr wrote:Hull have accepted a bid, but that isn't binding - if they get a better offer, they could un-accept it. BFS won't think twice about spending £40m
Plus we all know how he likes to "structure" his deals -
£9m up front and Brady gets a small carribean island as a sweetener

I just feel that as soon as West Ham and Middlesbrough match our bid, which they will, they will both blow us out of the water wage wise, we will then end up with neither of our much needed targets for the wing....Again.

Everybody knows the price now, the rest of the day should be interesting.
I wouldn't go to boro but West Ham could be tempting. Wages will be a factor, what we really need is for Sean to make him an omelette. He could sell sand to the Arabs.

I think we're messing with the odds so Grosicki can't lump an amount on the others to pay off his debts.
Then he comes to us without the 'baggage'.
Simples.

No what we should do is desperately try and sign a degenerate gambling winger an hour before the window slams shut. No plan B will cost us, does Dyche not have a list of preferred wingers?taio wrote:But a scatter gun approach would be stupid and desperate - a bit like your posts
Re: Snodgrass
I don't think that's true. Once there is an offer accepted a contract has been formed between the two clubs. Obviously then another contract has to be agreed between Snodgrass and Burnley, but Hull can't just un-accept the offer.dsr wrote:Hull have accepted a bid, but that isn't binding - if they get a better offer, they could un-accept it. Re: Snodgrass
Interesting one this. He'd improve us creatively, but I'm not sure if he wouldn't leave us weaker defensively, and he wouldn't add the pace that we are desperately lacking. On the other hand, his set plays would be a huge addition, and he's a player we can easily use as a second striker off Vokes or Barnes, or even perhaps behind Gray.
£7.5 million rising to £10 seems like a decent price to me.

Re: Snodgrass
Just a thought but should we not be looking at Andras Townshend? Newcastle are hoping to get him back on loan with a permanent in the summer. From what I've seen of him (though not as much as some no doubt) he always looks to put a shift in and has undoubted quality. Just wonder why no one seems to see him as a potential target. Is it a wages thing perhaps?
Re: Snodgrass
He will have a list of targets I'm sure. But if you think it's a long list you are deluded. Most clubs very much target individuals and have done for years. Anything else is desperation and rarely works out.Braindead wrote:No what we should do is desperately try and sign a degenerate gambling winger an hour before the window slams shut. Re: Snodgrass
West Ham unlikely to match our bid, apparently.
Re: Snodgrass
I still have West Ham as favourites. I'm damn sure his agent will be doing all he can to get him down there anyway. I'd have us above Boro in the pecking order though, even if they offer slightly higher wages. They look more likely to be relegated at this point and surely the quality of football you're playing comes into this somewhere?! Us and West Ham look a safer bet than Boro to be playing PL football next year.

If that's the case and Boro are the only other club who match our bid I would be reasonably confident.ClaretAndJew wrote:West Ham unlikely to match our bid, apparently.
Boro are managed by an utter shitlord and I can see them finishing 17th by virtue of his negativity. If Snodgrass went to Boro it would be a purely financial decision.
