Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
"Brady had been expected to move to Burnley. It remains to be seen if Palace also match the Clarets’ £10m offer for Hull City’s Robert Snodgrass. That deal may only be possible if Palace move on one of either Yohan Cabaye or Andros Townsend to Marseille or Newcastle respectively."
I'm not really sure why Townsend would go to Newcastle, again.
We can easily match the offer for Brady too, just wages

So basically we haven't offered enough money up front? Christ bet it was it £1m up front and £12m over 3 years.

Because as soon as West Ham and Middlesbrough match our bid, which they will, it's bye bye Snodgrass and we have lost out on both our targets.Tall Paul wrote:Are you saying we haven't had a bid accepted for Snodgrass? If not, what's so funny?

Pathetic. Perhaps we shouldn't go for our targets in fear of being out-muscled in the transfer market. Where would that stop - Should we just go for inferior players?Braindead wrote:Because as soon as West Ham and Middlesbrough match our bid, which they will, it's bye bye Snodgrass and we have lost out on both our targets.

Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
There has been contradictory information kicking around on this. The Irish sources - who have appeared well informed - have been indicating until this morning that we were in pole position because Brady preferred a move to us because of the Hendrick and Ward connection.ClaretTony wrote:We've offered more than that but that's his preferred choice
It does seem more likely it is at least partly to do with fee structure, and the amount that is guaranteed to be paid. I'd like to think that there's life in this one from our perspective yet, not least because I'm not sure Sunderland's commitment to the Brady deal is cut and dried given their ongoing interest in Van Arnholt.
Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
But you're slating the board because Palace have had a bid accepted by Norwich while ignoring the fact that we've had a similar size bid accepted for a player who is arguably more in demand than Brady.Braindead wrote:Because as soon as West Ham and Middlesbrough match our bid, which they will, it's bye bye Snodgrass and we have lost out on both our targets.
And we can match Palace's bid for Brady but if he decides to go there anyway, how is that the fault of Burnley's transfer negotiating team?

Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
We are moving to a phase of the season where we need at least half a dozen points away from home. I suspect that will need more dynamic wide players but who knows? I'm happy to trust the club on this one. The signings of Gray, Defour and Hendrick suggests that if deals don't go through, they may not be the right deals for us rather than us just being tight fisted.
Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
Signing players is complicated. It's not just a case of we didn't offer enough throw another million at it. Boo hoo I'm throwing my toys out of the pram. People love finding fault with the club for anything without knowing the facts.

I think the bottom three are that poor that 32-33 points might be enough this season, which is crazy.CrosspoolClarets wrote:We are moving to a phase of the season where we need at least half a dozen points away from home. In which case, 2 or 3 home wins and nothing away and we may well be safe by virtue of the shambles that sits below us.

Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
I can't see Norwich being happy at him going anywhere for reputedly 4mil less than we offered.
I can't see Palace being a better prospect than us either. All records go eventually and fat Sam looks like he could have pushed it once too often.
Wages apart, the hardest part of selling Burnley is the actual town/location. If Jeff has been in his ear about how good it is here then that shouldn't be a problem.
Wait and see but it would be a shame if we couldn't pull this one out of the hat.

Our offer was apparently £8m x £2m -£6m + installments of £500,000 over thirteen months.
Norwich still working out if its more or less than the Palace bid.

Nicko suggesting that there's an element of gamesmanship around the Snodgrass bid as he thinks we know we won't get near his wage demands.
Think the implication is that we want to smoke Norwich out re Brady for want of a better description.

Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
I don't see how that would work, Norwich looked like they were always going to sell Brady they were just waiting for the right price. I don't see how Palace have had a bid accepted at £4M less than our reported bid (The Irish agent fella did say the problem with our bids was not enough cash upfront, similar to the Stephens fiasco). Why do Palace need him when they just bought Schlupp? I don't buy it and the reporter is probably making up stories again.ShabbaRanks wrote:Nicko suggesting that there's an element of gamesmanship around the Snodgrass bid as he thinks we know we won't get near his wage demands.

Re: Palace have agreed 9 million for Brady
No idea.
Maybe we've pi55ed yet another club off with insultingly low offers and they're selling to the first club that gives them the money that they wanted up front all along.
Norwich were after Sako apparently, Maybe there's been a gentlemans agreement for Palace to structure the deals in a way that makes it favourable to Norwich.
Schlupp's predominantly a LB (Was a Striker IIRC) and Brady is a LM so maybe they want the entire Left Side strengthening, particularly if there's something in the Townsend to Newcastle rumours.
All sorts of nuances that we just aren't privy to - and yet again, there's the usual suspects in this thread presenting their opinions as fact.
