Hi Royboy
Its just so obvious that Snodgrass and Brady's wage expectations would be way above what we would be willing to pay. Yes we could afford the fees quoted, but why bother particularly with Snodgrass? Dyche was embarrassed when asked about him and virtually acknowledged that we had no chance of getting him in the press interview.
We have so much to learn as a club , we get miracles on the pitch from Dyche it appears we are hoping for miracles off the pitch with our transfer dealings

Re: Robbie Brady confirmed (speculation)
Paying the 'going rate' may ensure more signings but I think the bubble bursting or at least deflating in terms of TV income is coming soon.
The Premier League, Sky & BT are becoming increasingly anxious about people watching football elsewhere and not on their platforms, cutting our cloth accordingly is massively frustrating for fans but also vitally important.
Norwich want to sell as they have zero chance of promotion this season and are staring at the abyss if they don't gain promotion next season, does Brady want to stay there, I'd say no chance but we have to stick to our principles and not get caught up in the same way clubs like Bolton and Blackburn did with wages, we know what we are, paying more than you can reasonably afford is just plain stupid.

And yet we signed Hendrick and Defour, two players who are good, even in the Premier league. Hardly looking for miracles when we can make signings of that standard. Tarkowski & JBG also look very good players so it's not as though we are making poor decisions is it?northeastclaret wrote:Hi Royboy

O'Connor has just said fee agreed, but no agreement on wages with brady, so not dependent on Norwich signing a left back.

Re: Robbie Brady confirmed (speculation)
Its nonsense saying it was "so obvious" we can`t get these players.
The club can`t win - fans complain when we sign players like Juke, Sordell etc and they complain when we try and sign the likes of Brady and Snodgrass.
We have proved that we can attract better players in signing the likes of Defour and Hendrick.
Lots of people seem to think they are in the know in what these players are asking for or what they are on now - they really do not have a clue. They also do not realise there are many ways to structure a deal and i am sure as a club we try and explore all these options without breaking whatever wage structure we are supposed to have (which is another thing people wrongly believe they have insight into).
Its bullish*t saying we have no chance in signing these players - and pathetic when after the deadline "told you so" fans come on this board - and then disappear when we do sign someone.
What is it exactly these fans want ?
Enlighten us about who we should be going for and what we should be paying - or even better email the club and tell them where they are going wrong.

Send the list to the club....
i`m sure Dyche has never heard of any of these players and will be delighted with your insight.
Give him some tips on how he can secure the services of these players aswell - especially the ones who have already left to join other clubs.
Oh and by the way McManaman ? Really ? - he's working on BT sport now and getting on a bit but I am assuming you mean this one rather than the ex Wigan player who has done nothing for 3 years ?

Right, so he's not coming - not surprised in the least. But I'd like to know if we have any more players lined up. This is the difference imo between staying up or going down.

Re: Robbie Brady confirmed (speculation)
The problem we have is clear (for the second time this week). We want a certain quality of player in order to improve what we have and those players cost more than we are prepared to pay.
So we either accept that and pay more, or build a youth system and just don't bother competing for any good players.

I dont care about the bullsh*t rumour mill but i want our management and recruitment team to manage to sign at least a couple of players who will improve our team.TVC15 wrote:What is it exactly these fans want ?
What they think they need to pay, how difficult it is and who these people are is not my concern. The people who work at our club are paid handsomely to do this and it is their profession.
Just like we dont expect fans to name the team and pick the tactics instead of Dyche as laymen supporters the onus is not on us to have examples of who we should sign
If we get a couple of players in by the end of the month to the standard of Hendrick and Defour i'll be happy. If we get no one or sign players of the quality of Juke or Bamford i'll be disappointed and will criticise the club

I think that's the bottom line Steddyman. But we might be correct in not willing to pay in excess. Time will tell, I guess.

We haven't done bad with producing about two first team players in about 8 years from the youths and never signing any good players.

We can't afford premier league players or ones that have been, we need to be looking in the championship for the next gray or Tarkowski.

looking like BFS has used Brady to get Van Aanholt.
Leaving Brady with a choice of us or a third successive relegation on his CV with Sunderland.
Don't despair this could still happen.

Someone else will come in for him that pay more. Even a championship rival.
We've lost out on this if it has come down to wage structure.

Obviously no bid has been made by Burnley for Brady and accepted by Norwich (as some posters on these threads are claiming) otherwise he would not be playing for Norwich this afternoon.
He may well still end up at Burnley - but we have to make a bid and have it accepted first.
Let's hope he manages to get through these 90 minutes unscathed.
