Pope 7

Darikwa 4
Keane 7
Mee 7
Flanagan 4

JBG 6
Defour 9
Tarkowski 6
Barton 7
Arfield 7

Vokes 7

Subs

Hendrick 8
Barnes 6
Kightly 5

Edited. Defour upgraded to 9 (from 8) and Darikwa downgraded to 4 (from 5) as had originally thought it was the latter who provided the assist for the first goal but now realised it was Defour having watched highlights.

Have not seen anything other than BT short highlights, However, for his run and pass back for Defour' s moment of magic, Flanagan deserves more than 4!

Pope 7 - Didn't have much to do, didn't make any mistakes when he did

Darikwa 6 - Doesn't seem to like the ball at his feet. Tracked back well and put a few ok balls in the box
Keane 6 - Seemed to struggle with the big lad at times, decent distribution, little impact on the game
Mee 7 - had more of the ball the Keane, didn't really do much wrong, similarly nothing to shout about
Flanagan 4 - Poor display, beaten too easily on more than one occasion, leaves much to be desired

JBG 7 - solid performance
Defour 9 - did everything right and wonderful goal
Tarkowski 7 - calm on the ball and put in a good shift
Barton 6 - seemed a bit ff pace to me today, wonderful first time pass across field but little else to shout about
Arfield 7 - worked hard, got the ball forward and put some decent pressure on Bristol defence

Vokes 6 - some good play but first touch was poor on more than a few occasions, poor in the air

Subs

Hendrick 8 - some good play when he came on. Was sceptical earlier in the season but he seems to be coming into his own of late
Barnes 6 - put himself about and made a nuisance
Kightly 5 - didn't really do much

Pope 7 did well

Darikwa 5 scares the life out of me. Passing woeful today
Keane 9 outstanding
Mee 7 slipped again but recovered
Flanagan 6 ok but hate not having a left footer on that side

JBG 7 glad he is back simple and effective
Defour 9 has to get mom for the goal
Tarkowski 7 did ok in and unfamiliar role
Barton 6 quiet for him
Arfield 5 bit of a stinker. But never stops trying

Vokes 6 ok

Subs

Hendrick 8 he oozes class
Barnes 6 lifted the tempo
Kightly 5 needs a fresh club

Pope - 8 super save but twice he punched when he could've done better. Kept us in it early on mind.
Darikwa - 5 started okay but faded badly. Awful crossing and some poor decisions
Keane - 8 safe
Mee - 8 never troubled. Proper captain
Flanagan - 7 better than he has looked before but still fail to see his quality. Not troubling Ward for that LB spot.
Tarkowski - 7 some good bits some not so good. Needs to know when to pass and when to hold onto the ball
Gudmundsson - 7 some nice bits of play, glad to see him back
Defour 9* his class won the match. Superb.
Barton 8 solid and busy
Arfield 8 felt he had a good game, got involved and was involved some of our better moments going forward. Always ready to take the ball and recycle it
Vokes 8 won a lot of headers and did a good job being the line target.

Barnes 7 worked hard and could've got a goal
Kightly 6 didn't offer much
Hendrick 7 impressed in his short period. Carried the ball with authority. Playing with confidence.

JGB 7
Tarkowski 6
Defour 8*
Barton 6
Airfield 6
Vokes 6

Professional performance today and did not really get out of second gear. We lacked creativity at times but did enough.

Andy H how you can rate Flanagan higher than Darikwa is beyond me. Darikwa has poor distribution at times but gets forward well and put a few decent crosses in. He did nothing wrong defensively today. Flanagan meanwhile does not even look league 2 level. Feel for him but after a bad injury but he is a shadow of the player he was. Send him back now and get another loan in if we are allowed.

Pope 8 - Very quiet game, but stayed alert and was ready when required. Did punch at least once, where I thought could have caught, however the ball was wet and slippery and it worked out a good decision in the end.

Darikwa 6 - some great runs but his final delivery still concerns me
Keane 7 - Solid performance and a clean sheet
Mee 8 - Ever dependable and a clean sheet. (Got a higher mark than Keane as I thought he had more to do)
Flanagan 4 - Not convinced. I'm sure there is a player in there but not for me.

Tarkowski 8 - played well and looked solid, definitely feel he would be more suited in the back 4
Barton 6 - A bit off the pace for me today and a couple of errors
Defour 8 - Fantastic goal and looked confident on the ball and capable of creating lots

JBG 7 - A reasonable game, but did look like he was just returning from injury (I know he was, so hopefully you get my point)
Vokes -8 Another good performance
Arfield 8 - Thought he had a great creative game, looked really up for it

Barnes 6 - Didn't have much time to make a huge difference
Hendrick 7 - Solid when he came on but as above
Kightly 5 - Like the other subs really, not a game changing substitution on this occasion. (He is one of my favs. So would love to see him start more games.

All about opinions I guess. Darikwa did more but also did more wrong. Flanagan is hampered by trying to play left back without being able to kick it with his left foot. Also not having a wide man who could either. We were gimped on our left by selection not by performance. As such I marked him 6 which is ok. Darikwa was fairly poor and fluffed a few easy passes. As such I marked him 5 as below average.

Tarka - 7 - In the main very good but caught in possession a couple of times unnecessarily

Defour - 8 (MOM) - Assist and ridiculous goal, cruised it and was easily the best player on the pitch
Gudmundsson - 6 - Lively at times but didn't put his stamp on the game
Vokes - 7 - Won a lot in the air and generally held the ball up fairly well

Hendrick - 7 - Excellent cameo

Pope 7 - Not much to do but did it well.
Darikwa 4 - He's fast, not much else. Poor positioning once it's over his head and woeful distribution.
Keane 7 - Solid but not really tested.
Mee 7 - As per Keane
Flanagan 5 - looks like a Right back trying to play left. Funny that...
Gudmundsson 6 - Quiet but it took him a while to get going last time as I recall.
Defour 8 - exquisite finish and some great passing.
Tarkowski 6 - Sloppy but showed brilliant strength. Seemed to have been believing ABC's thoughts of him.
Barton 8 - Controlled the midfield.
Arfield 7 - nice touches but inhibited by his lack of pace.
Vokes 6 - Scored but sloppy with everything else.

Hendrick 8 - Took it by he scruff of the neck and controlled the game in his cameo.
Barnes 7 - Typical Barnes, unlucky not to get a goal.

Pope - 7. Good save at the end of the first half
Darikwa - 4. Pretty poor throughout lost the ball almost every time he got it.
Flanagan - 4. Equally poor as Darikwa.
Keane - 7. Never really tested.
Mee - 7. As above.
Tarkowski - 6. Not a holding midfielder but put in a good shift.
Defour - 8. Sublime goal and another assist. Best midfielder we've had in my lifetime.
Barton - 7. Belter of a volleyed pass out to Gudmundsson in the second half, good game overall.
Arfield - 7. Beat his man a few times, worked hard.
Gudmundsson - 6. Had a hand in the second goal but his contribution wasnt great today, not helped by Darikwa
Vokes - 7. Extra point for the goal.

Hendrick - 7. Drove forward, used the ball well.
Barnes - 6. Didnt really get a sniff.

Wowsers. I try to mark before looking at others' ratings but reading back it looks like I'm way out of line on Darikwa, giving him a 7. Looks like I missed a stinker but I didn't really notice him that much and what I did see was reasonable.

I don't like the fact nobody seems to take into account that flans and darikwa have had next to no games , how you can expect them to be European player of the year is beyond me when they haven't been first choice all season

I haven't played for 15 years but I could still, now, today put at least 4 out of 12 crosses on the penalty spot 5 to 6 ft off the floor.

No problem.

We didn't have one decent cross from any single player today, not just Darikwa. The team were poor at it.

Pope 6 bar one good save he didn't have much to do. Doesn't inspire confidence like Heaton but a good young goalkeeper learning his trade. Punches a bit weak and distribution was often ponderous and off target.
Darikwa 5 looks a shadow of the player that started last season. Short on confidence and distribution was off. Didn't do a massive amount wrong defensively but going forward he failed to capitalize on several promising situations. Needs a loan:
Flanagan 4 poor all around. What happened to this fella? Just seems lost. Ponderous and looks like he's running in quick sand when he's chasing someone. No left foot at all which is a problem at LB. never looks to cross. Ever.
Keane 7 class. Not massively troubled but was composed as ever and just always looks like he's got everything covered.
Mee 8 looked like Beckenbauer at times today! What a captain! All heart all the time.
Barton 5 played some great balls but then looked very rusty at other times. Still good to have him back!
JBG 7 played a beautiful ball for the second. Looked rusty at times but generally very good.
Defour 9* wow what a goal! The nutmeg for the first was sublime too! This guy oozes class although he can give the impression of being a little nonchalant at times.
Tarkowski 6 up and down game. I really like him as a player and he is so composed on the ball. Some great skills and then other times held on too long. Generally good though. We won the midfield and he was a big part.
Arfield 7 some great skills at times. Really looked up for it today and wanted to make something happen.
Vokes 6 what the sense of lumping the ball up to Big Sam when he is being marked by a 6'5" centrehalf is baffling. He took his goal well but needed a quick man next to him
And more service to his feet.
Subs:
Barnes 6 hustled and gave a decent cameo appearance
Hendrick 8 wow did he look up for it today. Looked so much quicker and more eager than anyone else out there.
Really is coming into his own.
Kightly NR decent skills decent effort.

A game crying out for Andre today. Not too bad in the driving rain.
Good to be back at the Turf today! Let's hope we get a kind draw and can progress further.

Flanagan 8
Darikwa 9

I didnt go today. First game ive missed. But judging by this forums regulars and its predecessors ive probably still underscored these two.

4s and 5s? And a cleansheet in a 2 - 0 win? Laughable.

How about you subscribe to Clarets Player for a month, watch the game back and count how many times Flanagan got done by either a simple drop of the shoulder, by being stood up too square to his man or by just diving in recklessly. If you then think his performance deserved an 8 or a 9 then fair play, but if you haven't seen the game your comments are a pretty worthless.

ive not missed a player ratings since clarets mad 2002

my rating of them two is probably and underestimation based on the above factors

But you didn't go to the game against Bristol City? I'm not sure why your attendance record is relevant.

Because ive seen the nonsense reviews on here and clarets mad. Darikwa was outstanding against sunderland and got 5s off many.

Almost as funny as the alien scene on beadle.

Pope - 7
Darikwa - 6
Mee - 7
Keane - 7
Flanagan - 4
Tarks - 6
Barton - 7
Arfield - 7
JBG - 7
Defour - 8 (MOM)
Vokes - 6

Barnes - 6
Hendrick 7

We never really got out of first gear in first half and looked sluggish - we were gifted the goal but never really looked in much trouble either

Second half was much better.

Defour with one of the best goals many of us will ever see for Burnley. Hendrick came on and was excellent.

I thought Darikwa was ok today, extremely wasteful with the ball but wasn't really caught out defensively.

Flanagan on the other hand was beaten on at least 5 occasions. You rarely see Ward beaten (in the true sense of the word) against the world's best, Flanagan was up against a run of the mill Championship player.

andyh wrote:All about opinions I guess.
Fair enough, I guess Flanagan is a right back so should cut him a bit of slack because of that. However, I thought he got beaten so easily on many occasions and looked like a liability. Did not see that happen to Darikwa who also offered much more going forward. Flanagan just looks so slow to me and therefore tries to jump in when he should not because he is worried about people doing him for pace. Don't see him being able to offer much in the PL especially not at left back.

Did the job against a very poor Championship side.
Think Sean will be looking for fullback replacements/back up as it was clear as day yesterday that the current back up options are not up to the job.
I'd be fearful should any of them start a premiere league game.

We had the Flanagan wasn't fit excuses far too long. I don't think he will play for Liverpool again going off his displays for us so far.

In the hat is all that matters, but it was a preformance to forget for many, hasn't given the manager any selection headaches ahead of Leicester.

4's for Darikwa extremely harsh, even 5,s on the low side in my opinion. Agree that there was a lot of poor crossing where he wasn't getting any height, but he did get at least a couple of good crosses into the area and went past his opponent a few times. At least he did try and go forward with the ball which precious few others did apart from Defour and Hendrick when he came on. He also did an adequate job defensively.

His last game against Sunderland was a very good one, at least in the opinion of the majority of fans and SD.

He's had very little game time, but it seems some fans are too keen to write him off.

Except it was JBG not Flanagan who supplied the pass.

Everyone saying Flanagan isn't a left back, is that not where he played for Liverpool the season they almost won the league?
