I would say Robertson is a far better choice than Taylor. He has a season and a halfs worth experience in the Prem, 12 caps for Scotland and won promotion out of the Championship last season.
Not to mention I think he is just a better footballer, in general. Very exciting to watch in full flow.

Have to disagree think Taylor is a more rounded footballer which is why bigger clubs are in for him. Think Taylor is more suited to premier league football.jedi_master wrote:I would say Robertson is a far better choice than Taylor. Robertson is head and shoulders above Taylor IMO
I said when we were linked with Snodgrass that I thought Robertson was Hull's best player.

Re: Robertson - £10m bid accepted - SPECULATION
Taylors physicality is better and has better attributes whereas robertson has pace but gives daft fouls away. Wouldn't seem like a dyche signing to me.KRBFC wrote:Robertson is head and shoulders above Taylor IMO

Re: Robertson - £10m bid accepted - SPECULATION
Robertsons the better left back overall for me, worth more and in a better team. You say Taylor is linked with better teams, but which teams? I know he was linked with WBA and Us last summer while Robertson was linked with Arsenal and United.CFS wrote:Taylors physicality is better and has better attributes whereas robertson has pace but gives daft fouls away. Robertson would be the best signing of all those linked.

Fully agree Ian. This guy has impressed me whenever I've watched Hull and if it came to a choice of one or the other I'd take him over Brady. I know they play in different positions but this lad can get up and down the line. Don't forget that Gareth Bale started out as a left back (before anyone starts I'm not comparing the lad to Bale), but he could possible play further forward.

Hull fans seem to think he'd be a better winger (it's not just our fans that do it then). Either way, he would be a great signing and one who we could potentially turn a big profit on. That's just the sort of signing we need.

Robertson has the most potential I'm sure we can all agree, but right now as an upgrade on Ward, who has been quietly one our most consistent performers (in our best season in a long while) is he that much better right now?
Brady would immediately be an upgrade on Boyd or Arfield.
I guess there's the argument that we can afford to look to the future as we have a good cushion already...
Sod it lets just get both.

Re: Robertson - £10m bid accepted - SPECULATION
The Brady signing is more important imminently. He has pace and good delivery, including from set pieces. He'd walk straight into the side. We're defensively sound and another left back would have to wait his turn behind Ward and would be unlikely to feature too much between now and the end of the season. It's better to sign that cover now, if available, than wait until the end of the season though.
Re: Robertson - £10m bid accepted - SPECULATION
Not at all. It is because he is an exceptional young talent who will continue to improve, from an already strong level. The fact that he is Scottish is just a bonus! I would say the same if he was a Martian.WestMidsClaret wrote:Yeah but Ian isn't saying it because he is a good footballer who would improve our 1st team he's saying it because he is Scottish

As mentioned earlier. It's the delivery from the left we are lacking.
I can remember so many goals where the cross has come in from the right but off the top of my head none from the left.

It's going to be a Hell of a frustrating day if the only reason we don't sign Robertson and Brady is due to Hull and Norwich's own ineptness.

Why are they inept, they don't have to sell their best players just because we want to buy them. If we fail to sign anyone it's down to us not having a backup plan

This is the problem with us signing first team quality players though.
Look at who Sunderland are signing for example. No wonder those deals are going through.

I don't think this is fair ablue. It appears that for the first time we are going in for players having offered the right price for the selling club. The crux is that the club's want to get replacements in before they transfer registration to us.ablueclaret wrote:We do tend to get hoodwinked by clubs.
Nixon has tweeted Robertson is growing increasingly frustrated that Hull haven't landed his replacement, and Lee Darnbrough is furiously emailing clubs all over the country for Brady's replacement. Have faith and patience. We will get deals done today.

I don't know enough about Hull's squad, but even if the lad from Inter isn't a left back, he may well free up one of their other defenders who can operate at left back to play there, so indirectly replace Robertson.

Or he replaces Curtis Davies who has been ruled out for two months - I was of the opinion that this was the signing who opened up the Robertson move but I did think he was a left back.claretspice wrote:I don't know enough about Hull's squad, but even if the lad from Inter isn't a left back, he may well free up one of their other defenders who can operate at left back to play there, so indirectly replace Robertson.
Re: Robertson - £10m bid accepted - SPECULATION
Hull were short priced favourites last night to make more signings before deadline than any other Premier League team.
They were talking 6 potential signings so let's hope one is a left back as if Nixon is to be believed Hull are going to be left with an unhappy Robertson

Latest is that Robertson won't be coming. So that will be Robertson and Westwood closed. We just need Norwich to keep hold of Brady now and that'll be Deadline Day finished.
