Michael Kightly - What's happening?
Michael Kightly - What's happening?
I thought Ipswich were interested in taking him at the start of the season.
Are we keeping him just in case of injuries?

Wouldn't surprise me if he was offered up to Hull or Norwich to sweeten the deals

Been a good servant to us and will always be fondly remembered by me for 13/14 when he really came into his own to help us over the line in the last 10 games.
Time for him to move on and get some football though - and there is only one reason we would be willing to let Kightly leave...if Brady is in the building.

He's miles behind where we are now.
Only six months left on his contract?
Needs a move to get another one somewhere else I think

Michael Kightly could be out of Burnley. Being squeezed. That will interest a few.
(Nixon)
What is he, 31 ? Needs to be playing, he's had some (fleeting) moments but often there is zero end product. As he's a runner he's been afforded much more time than some, for example compare with the dog's abuse that Stanislas got from some fans and he's a far superior footballer (but not a runner).

Think the wages put Ipswich off. He did help get us over the line that season with some great end of season performances and has played his part for us.
Re: Michael Kightly - What's happening?
Like Jedi Master, I've had a lot of time for Kightly since that 13/14 season where I think he was absolutely vital to how we played.
He's a grafter, who can also stretch the play and relieve pressure that way, but with Gudmundsson being a better version of him, Brady on the way (fingers crossed) and money in the bank, this summer seems a natural time for his BFC stay to end. He'll get another deal at one of the larger Championship sides on decent money, and he can play out his career there.

In reality, his time with us should've been up long ago. Hope he gets himself a move, somebody like Preston would be a good move for him.

A better player than some would have, often come in,played well and been dropped, certainly needs a change of air, could do well for a Championship club.

Re: Michael Kightly - What's happening?
Ipswich certainly couldn't afford him last summer but I would have thought any move might have been dependent on us getting in a replacement. This time that replacement could arrive.

Re: Michael Kightly - What's happening?
Always thought Kightly was a good player for us. Like his directness as it causes problems. Isn't good enough going backwards for Dyche though and we certainly require a player with more ability.
Hopefully he will get a move somewhere where he can play regular.
