Did anyone else have an image of a hearing aid in their mind when they saw the title of this thread?

Yep!!!

Hoping he gets lucky. Let's hope mike dean is on the panel, as he tends to cut people a little slack.

31st was the deadline for the submission, not the hearing. At least that's what I thought anyway.

and hopefully his submission is of biblical proportions and will take a firm of lawyers 6 months to get through

Does he have the tv on too loud next door to you?

Is there a precedent for what he is being accused of?

If so what was the outcome?

It's probably been covered on another thread somewhere but I don't read everything.

I did some research a while back and there was a big range.

From a large fine to a 4 month ban.

I am hoping for a fine/ban conbination hopfully for say 4 games, but there was real clue in previous events

I am hoping they dont give him the four month ban.

Can I see the FA just giving him a fine, absolutely not. hence what I am hoping for.

Watchng tv and typing means it does not always make full sense sorry

No doubt be treated more harshly than an ex England manager advising how to get around FA rules or a prominent Premier League manager man handling an official during a game.

Yeah he was sacked, but got his pay off for being booted and has a new job......

So not really a punishment

Surely there must be rules in a contract that you need to behave in a certain way. BFS shouldn't have been paid off.

I'd be happy with a fine and a two month ban beginning 31st May.

Dodgy fat sex act?

I'm guilty of a few of them...

The 4 month ban that other lad got had 3 of the months suspended (so he only served a 1 month ban)

Given its Barton though and I think he's accused of placing quite a lot of bets they might throw the book at him (pun alert) if found guilty

4 month ban would be OK as long as it starts on 14th May. He would get a nice long preseason then.

Unless we are in the Cup Final of course.

Given how he is playing any ban would be seriously detrimental to us.

Wasn't there talk of Joey requesting a personal hearing which would drag it out further?

Barton will certainly request a personal hearing, and assuming there is some grey area within the rules from pre 2014 (and my understanding is there is), I suspect the date of any hearing is some time into the future, and any appeal by Barton if he gets a lengthy ban could quite easily delay it further. I certainly think he'll get a few more games in for us yet.

"and hopefully his submission is of biblical proportions and will take a firm of lawyers 6 months to get through"

If they gave Joey a dictaphone to give his explanation it would take the best part of five years to type it.

I'm sure all this would've been worked through when we gave him a contract to the end of the season. Wouldn't have been much point if we only going to get a month out of him.

If we can get another 4 or 5 games out of Barton we should be safe. This fella has been a sensation playing in Claret and blue

He only responded yesterday so if he's asked for a personal hearing they will have to arrange that first.

under eu law you can not be legally stopped from gambling on any out come unless it is reasonably believed you have insider knowledge ie that someone is going to do something that will aid you getting the right result. Or that the job you do gives you insider knowledge, but under brexit it all becomes a bit different, bit like tax, tax man does not have to prove you owe tax you have to prove how much you pay. So its all down to when Brexit is started

But the offence took place while under EU law

And the next challenge will be to get Barton's legal representatives, and the legal guys on the tribunal, all in the room at the same time.

As I understand it, this is the sort of disciplinary tribunal that was put together to hear the Ro Ferdinand doping case, which did I think take some time.

Do we know if he actually profited from any of these bets? Also, I read somewhere that most of these bets were Accumulators. These factors don't really help with the prosecutions argument that he might have had insider knowledge on the outcomes of some of these fixtures.

Hopefully this will ride out the season and they can convene thereafter. All the documents he has submitted will need to be gone over by their legal folk and questions raised etc...and answered, all in good time, before any hearing, I would hope. Look how long it took the lawyers over Danny Ings! (Have they paid?)

Fingers crossed.

I think that I read somewhere that a lot of the bets are accumulator bets, each one being classed as a separate bet.

If I were him, I would be instructing solicitors against the betting company as though he has broken rules of a professional body, he has broken no laws. Is he not entitled to confidentiality as a client of the betting company?

Why did the company not bring this to light after the first bet?

No one's accusing him of breaking the law, he's done nothing illegal. He's accused of breaking the rules relating to his profession.
