What you reckon guys same as against Leicester or a debut for one or both our new signings, personally can't see either starting.

Forgot Defour, what was the injury DC? went straight to the dressing room after he came off and looked pretty ****** off as he went past the CFS.

Subs: Robinson Flanagan Tarkowski Westwood Gudmundsson Brady Vokes
I'd imagine both new signings will start on the bench given the relatively little time they'll have had to integrate.
Having said that Westwood may be drafted in for an early debut as both Defour and Hendrick left the field with injuries last night.

Re: Team v Watford
Same as against Leicester but if Defour isn't fit then I think
Dyche will probably start with Arfield and possibly bring on Brady
sometime in the second half.
The only other possible change is to start Vokes instead of Barnes
if he thinks Vokes might be a bigger threat to their defence.
Vokes is also a much better defender especially at corners.
Just hope we can get that away record monkey off our backs
as the longer it continues the more pressure we'll be under.
A win would just about guarantee us staying up.
Certainly the bookies might even stop any odds on us going down.

Appeared to be his groin that was the issue.Steve1956 wrote:Forgot Defour, what was the injury DC? went straight to the dressing room after he came off and looked pretty ****** off as he went past the CFS.

Re: Team v Watford
Defour looked like a muscle injury so will be out for a week or two I should think. If that is the case I would throw Brady straight into the team, this is a game where we should look to get straight at them and nick an early goal.

Re: Team v Watford
Interesting quandary once we have Defour, Hendrick and Barton fit. Presuming Brady earns his place in the next few weeks (and with the option of Westwood) there's a good but difficult choice to be made.
Maybe a four of Hendrick, Barton, Defour and Brady.

Re: Team v Watford
I would say that Brady would have to be checked out as being Dyche fit first and learning the set up before being thrown in at the deep end, bet he is ****** he won't get the Cup winners medal, though he will get to play in Europe next season

Re: Team v Watford
Same as Tuesday, with Arfield (as good as Barton or Hendrick on Tuesday night for my money) replacing for Defour.
That team worked well on Tuesday, so it deserves another run. Westwood and Brady will add to probably the best bench Burnley have ever put out.

Re: Team v Watford
Arfield ran into trouble / tackles on numerous times on Tuesday. I like him but he is struggling with the tempo of the PL.
Brady is used to playing with Hendrick and Ward and he would be in my starting lineup.

Re: Team v Watford
Arfield got dispossessed a couple of times, that's the price of trying to make things happen sometimes. The important thing is that he was brave on the ball and willing to risk making a mistake. He gave us control in midfield, carried the ball and used it with composure. Terrific performance and he had absolutely no problem with the tempo of the game.Mala591 wrote:Arfield ran into trouble / tackles on numerous times on Tuesday. I think it will be the team DCWat and MDWat and many others have picked with Brady for Defour. However I'd put JBG in as well in place of Boyd.

I don't always agree with Dyche - I wanted Gray back in the team well before he was reinstated in the autumn, for example, but I don't understand this. Dyche picks the likes of Arfield and Boyd because they're integral to the way he wants the team to play.TheDon wrote:Have to start your best team and I think Brady and gudmundsson are our best wingers.

I would certainly have Brady in for Defour. The fact he picked Defour ahead of Arfield in the first place speaks volumes.

arfield got injured at sunderland but he was in the team before that. arfield's only just come back and defour had been playing well enough to keep his place.
i'd be surprised if arfield doesn't start on saturday as that tends to be how dyche works. although i'd be equally unsurprised if brady started instead.

Re: Team v Watford
Never thought I'd see the day when we make a record signing for £13m (who is fit and good to go) and there's a possibility he might start on the bench.
Re: Team v Watford
It's a game we need to get a result preferably a win so
if that what's Dyche is aiming for then I'd start with Brady
as he's the surprise factor and will hopefully be up for it.
If Dyche is playing safe and wishes to avoid defeat he might start with Arfield.

Re: Team v Watford
Think Arfield and Boyd will start with Brady and JBG on bench. Nice position to be in and up to Arfield and Boyd to show they are good enough to start.
Re: Team v Watford
I think he may revert to a 4 5 1 if the fitness stats on Westwood and Brady are good. Certainly Hendrick and Barton can operate together and just maybe a bit of Irish magic is what is needed for the points?

I also wouldn't be surprised if Arfield did start at Watford but it's clear he's no longer the automatic first choice that he once was.
Re: Team v Watford
Anybody else worried more about Marneys injury than Defours?
Re: Team v Watford
4-5-1 has been a total disaster away from home so I doubt Dyche will touch that formation with a barge pole.vinrogue wrote:I think he may revert to a 4 5 1 if the fitness stats on Westwood and Brady are good. He'll go 4-4-2 as it's worked well against Spurs, Man City & Arsenal.

Arfield hasn't been an automatic first choice all season but the way dyche tends to work is that it's a players shirt to lose. Arfield did enough on Tuesday to take the shirt in defours absence.

Good SD has the choices he has!
It's what he's paid for.
Whatever starting 11 he picks will do me, though would like to see Brady at some point.
Been a long, long while since our squad quality came even close to what it is now.

Wouldn't be at all suprised if Arfield starts, however after a week training with the club, I expect Sean to start his record signing.
Also cannot imagine Westwood will be starting, well, until Barton gets banned

Brady joined on Tuesday. As we played that night, I assume Wednesday was a day off or very light debrief day. That leaves Thursday and today, both of which I assume will have been spent more on specific planning than Saturday rather than any pattern work to enable Brady to get used to the way we operate.ClaretAndBlue94 wrote: Wouldn't be at all suprised if Arfield starts, however after a week training with the club, I expect Sean to start his record signing.

Disregard my point, would be massively surprised if Brady starts on 2 days of training max.

Re: Team v Watford
As magnificent as our home record is, away from home, apart from battling displays in the last 3 or 4 games, NEVER have we looked like winning a game. Simply put, in my opinion, this can be put down solely to our lack of pace. The team should be flying in confidence so let`s go for it. The games are incredibly winnable.

Lowton Keane Mee Ward
Boyd Hendrick Barton Brady
Barnes Gray
p.s. Dyche won`t start Brady, he will start Arfield
