When I am next in Mauritius I certainly will my friend. At the moment I'm still in the UK, in the cold and the rain. No holidays for me until the Summer.

I hope the storm passed by without too much damage.

We went in October and had a great time. Shandrani at Blue bay for 6 days then Sugar Beach at Fliq en Flaq for another 6 days. Much more to offer than many of the other island places we visited and the food is really good. UTC

Stunning part of the world, need to go out again ..Luck would have it my Dad was born out there and therefore have family out in Mauritius.
Only been once, i was so surprised how lush the interior is, the beaches are second to none. The food is excellent as is the beer. For me i love the local rum can't get enough of it, my son buys it for me from an importers.
For anyone considering a holiday here don't stay in your complex get out and explore Mauritius a safe friendly place and the people are lovely and helpful.

You're right about the rum, all sorts of flavours. Quite different to the Caribbean rum.

Was quite partial to the tamarind flavoured one. Pink Pigeon not bad either.

Try the Green Island rum (can be bought in this country at beers of the word) lovely and smooth. There is also St Aubin Rhum Agricole Vanilla that comes with a vanilla stick inside the bottle, very moorish. Flamboyant is another lovely smooth rum i have enjoyed (i think lol).
New Grove do a variety of rums White, dark and flavoured all top notch.
New Grove is place my Dad grew up before coming to England in 1965, and family at one time owned a sugar plantation until the mid 70's.

we are lucky .The cyclone Carlos passed away without causing any harm to our agriculture and public infrastructure .School has resumed today . Both in the private and public structure work continued uninterrupted as there is no forced holiday at the issue of Class 2 warning .
i cannot speak much about our breweries and rum manufacture as I am a teetotaller .The Mauritian beer has won many prizes in the world . day by day they are improving .
All hotels have trained staff . There is a special school for all those who want to procure jobs in hotels . No certificate and no job in hotel . the food server are tasteful and the Mauritian cuisine is at honour .The service is excellent .All have to join efforts to give the best of themselves and excel . The airport is newly constructed and is proclaimed the best in the Indian Ocean .I live in the district of Flacq which is in the east of Mauritius and only five kms from where i live . I have my own seaside three bed room apartment which is free to all fans and stakeholders of Burnley .
