Also recently watched The Upside which is Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart. Alongside The Green Book one of the best films I have seen in a long time when it is now Tv Series where most of the funding goes and there has been in a decline in the standard of movies
Agree about The Upside, I thought that was excellent too and definitely made me laugh.

The Joker -

Pretty good film, definitely worth seeing, but pay attention when you're watching it and I'm pretty sure you'll leave at the end with more questions then you had when it started

Off to watch The Day Shall Come and Ad Astra this coming week.

Now the Cinemas are back open -

Godzilla Vs Kong - if you want to watch monsters beat each other up with some humans running around trying to help or hinder, then this is great, don't go in expecting a deep story.

Mortal Kombat - its based on a brutal fighting game and it delivers exactly that in film version.

Nobody - lead actor from Better Call Saul, goes all John Wick/Equaliser and its an amusing film with some good one liners and action sequences.

Going to watch "A Quiet Place part 2" tomorrow night, enjoyed the first one so looking forwards to this.

I have only seen the trailer, but Anthony Hopkins new film The Father is garnering plenty of attention, although it's certainly not one for a relaxing evening's viewing given the intense subject matter.

Not one for the homophobes though.

Can highly recommend a quiet place 2. After a year of very few good films this one felt like a return to normality (in cinema terms).

I've missed the cinema quite a lot, so I'll be smashing out a lot of trips there to make up for lost time

A Cineworld unlimited card is a brilliant thing to have if you have a Cineworld nearby.

The Cruel Sea and Reach for the Sky. Both have appearances by Sam Kydd who over a 36 year career appeared in over 270 films as well as embracing many roles (and bit parts which was his recognised forte) in the television medium as it developed in the early days. He played Mike Baldwin's father in Coronation Street for short spells. Never out of work.

Enjoyed the film Quiet Place 2.
Some parts were predictable, but overall a good sequel and wouldn't be surprised at a 3rd one.

Just watched The Father tonight.

Not many films tug on my heart strings (Manchester By The Sea probably being the last one)

The Father - quite possibly one of the greatest bits of acting I've ever seen and for Sir Anthony Hopkins to do so at 83 is even more amazing.

A brilliant film, brilliant acting by the cast but specifically by Hopkins and Olivia Coleman.

If you only see one film this year, make it this one.
It puts you in the mind of someone suffering dementia, so parts of it are naturally disorientating as a result but it keeps you engaged all the way through and never quite knowing what's going to happen next.

Highlights the strain it puts on relatives whilst working out what's best to do for their parent etc.

If you're an emotional person the ending could have you in tears.

Hopkins completely deserved his Oscar for lead in this and Coleman was more than deserving of her nomination.

Jackass - what you'd expect tbh

The Batman - watched this last night, and I was a bit apprehensive at first because I really enjoyed the Nolan Trilogy, Affleck's turn less so.

Really enjoyed it, cast is excellent, Robert Pattinson is superb as a dark, brooding Batman.
The Riddler, played by Paul Dano, is a brilliant choice as the main criminal in this one.

Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman is also a brilliant choice, with a well done to her wardrobe department :D

The whole film just works, very well, and I'd put it up there with the Nolan Trilogy in regards to quality of work.

I enjoyed it so much it didn't even feel like I was watching it for just under 3hrs....

Uncharted - enjoyable film, better than I expected tbh and I'd watch a sequel if they made one.
Yes the casting doesn't quite line up with the game characters but it doesn't really matter, I like these sorts of films about treasure hunting ever since I first watched Indiana Jones

Adam Project - another enjoyable one, couple of poignant moments in it, some interesting ideas (Netflix only)

We went to watch Unchartered, as GIADJ says, the casting isn't A list but it was an enjoyable romp nonetheless.

Haven't seen the new one yet, but I caught the 2nd over Christmas, and will hopefully see the 1st in the series as it's airing on Film 4 soon.

Yes if you take them for what they are they are enjoyable romps, I definitely detect a James Bond spoof about them, and I can see the series running for some time yet,

No Taron Egerton in this one though, which in my view will be a big loss to the franchise.

Its set during WW1 so Taron would be a tad difficult to explain ... Its how Kingsman came to be ... the in jokes are all there ... you will enjoy it if you like the TE CF MS ones 👍

Yes just seen it's a prequel as they like to do these days, now I understand why Taron isn't involved, mind you I'm sure Gemma Arterton will make up for his absence. :)

The young lad who was opposite him probably has a good shout at being a young James Bond.

Watched Steven Graham in Boiling Point on Netflix last night. V good - shot in one take. Convincing performance from Graham as a top chef who gradually implodes as he faces a challenging evening in his restaurant.

Last Sunday on BBC was one i recorded was Molly's Game with Jessica Chastain - fascinating story and a fast paced tale of High stakes poker in the USA.

Molly's game is well worth a watch, first half hour is quite slow, but once it picks up pace it doesn't relent, and Jessica Chastain delivers a great performance.

I just watched NOPE, the new film from Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) and I have to say - massively disappointed!

I was really excited for it because I loved his first two films, but very little happens for the first 90 minutes and it's core concept just isn't really as interesting as the other two. It perks up for a fun packed last 20 minutes or so, but overall it's not great. 5/10.
