Definitely a thug in my opinion.

Fine being physical and using his strength, but he's just dirty and constantly in the refs ear (and assistants) whinging and complaining. No doubt he was doing the same with our players. Thing is, our players should be able to handle it and didn't (especially Barton) and the ref should of controlled him and didn't.

Horrible player, but to be fair I thought he played fairly well considering his level.

Fantastic day and result for Lincoln, but sadly it was more about our inability to get out of first gear than anything they did.

Barton let himself down I am sure he is aware of that. However if the referee had of clamped down on this guy in the first half Barton wouldn't of had to react the way he did.
Elbow after elbow after foul and foul all waved away.

Did what he had to but didn't do anything to suggest he's anything other than a battering ram. I think it's strange that big strikers often get away with persistent fouling without receiving a booking. He should probably have received a yellow in the first half which would have prevented some of the second half antics.

Their lad rolled around on the floor holding his face after Flanagan's slight push in his chest.

Not making excuses mind.

When does foul play become persistent? 5 fouls in the 1st half including the elbow on Barton.

We shouldn't have risen to is, but Rhead should have been booked early doors for some of his fouls. The fact he wasn't set the tone of the game, and Barton reacted very badly, and unprofessionally to that. The ref was poor.

Not taking anything away from the Imps. You have to play a certain way to win, and they played the Burnley style to the extreme today.

When Lincoln were warming up in front of us in the Bob Lord, my son tapped my arm and said there is hope for me yet and told me to watch this player (he wasn't being complimentary!!) I watched and saw this unit of a player hit his shots all over the place.

However once the match started his head was a magnet for the ball and we allowed it to continue. At first he targeted Flanagan which dragged Tarks out from the centre to deal with hit, then Barton helped out. The point I am making is a player of limited talent dragged 2 of our players out of the game a lot of the time during the game.

These type of players are around and we have had a few players whose heading ability made up for there lack of ability on the ground.

A lot of this sounds like sour grapes to me. He is what he is, he came to do a job and it wasn't pretty but he unsettled our lot who should have dealt with it easily. Reminded me of a tall overweight Ashley Barnes. To try to ridicule him suggests to me some of our fans think we had a right to win today. Arrogance of Arsenal or Chelsea proportions.

I really don't understand why the pic of the Lincoln player on the floor kneeling over the ball has been included in this? The ball is there..the Lincoln player was laid on it at one point to obstruct anyone getting to it..the players (Barton included) were trying to free it. Not even the slightest hint of any stamp. In fact the ref gave a Burnley free kick for that incident.

We still havn't had a response to the Rhead charge and elbow into Barton in the first half..not even a free kick for that! Totally cleans out Barton and he knew exactly what he was doing. Lots of Lincoln fans calling for retrospective bans on twitter etc...what about that incident? A stronger ref..and all that followed would not have happened. The fact Barton took things into his own hands played right into Lincolns trap.

Not really he puts his arm out like he is doing a "clothesline" on WWF and swings it like a bloody great club - if the ref had taken charge with the first offence he would have calmed the game down instead we got Power reckless on JBG and all sorts of diving in from them - soon as they got some back they started rolling all over - exactly what led to the big melee and Joey's card - no one can defend what followed though - that was plain stupid

We played crap - failed to take good chances and they scrapped one in - good look to them in the next round - they got a famous result at our expense - painful, but no one can tell me either side was good

Everyone on here has said Joey Barton deserved to be sent off.

A visitor from the Lincoln site (in line with what was posted on there pre match) seems to be unable to view the Rhead incident dispassionately (like we have with Barton).

Great result for you yesterday, fair play to you for that, and the Lincoln fans I met all sound lads, but your forum is full of versions of Saxoman.

Hope you do well, and like your fans sung "we're on our way back", I hope you get back to the level you once where.

Should have been carded in the first half but then Flanagan and Barton should have seen red. Certainly raised question marks about Tarkas strength in aerial duals, a typically aggravating player that used to be one a penny at one time, got to us, wound our players up and did for us. Not ref'd like a Premier League match but not played like one either. My betting is that next match he'll be red carded, he's now a marked man. Let's hope Barton can put his baggage back in the cage.

He credits Rhead's performance. He also laughed each time there was a kick off that he was involved in - Tarkowski would go rushing over and then lightly place a hand on Rhead before completely shitting out after getting Rhead's attention.
