Vokes mobility
Sam's never been particularly fleet of foot but recently he seems slower than ever and without wanting to be unkind a bit lumbering.
Is he carrying an injury - it looks like it at times ?

Great! Now it's Sam's turn for a bit of abuse.

Re: Vokes mobility
I didn't see one bit of abuse from the OP. Some people need to learn the difference between an observation/question and abuse

Re: Vokes mobility
His movement was the same as always. He always lumbers. It's when he doesn't win headers, create chances, score easy chances and get headers on target there's a problem....

You can rotate Barnes, Gray and Vokes as much as you like. All 3 are great servants and squad members but all 3 lack the cutting edge of the PL
We will inevitably sell MK in the Summer and that's where we need to use the money, maybe trying to get Ings or Rodriguez and another quality striker

His goals earned us roughly £170 million..

He's too soft for a big lad, should have been bossing their centre halves today, Barnes first challenge when he came on was more positive than anything Sam did all game. Toughen up please.

Re: Vokes mobility
Vokes tends to find a while to get going if he spends time out of the team.
Re: Vokes mobility
Agreed. We need a good striker. I thought we should have tried to get Rhodes.warksclaret wrote:You can rotate Barnes, Gray and Vokes as much as you like. All 3 are great servants and squad members but all 3 lack the cutting edge of the PL

He could learn a thing or two from that lump they had upfront.. as crazy as that sounds.

Well the 3 you suggest lack the cutting edge have got us to 12th in the Premier League so I personally am going to afford them the benefit of one collective crap performance...warksclaret wrote:You can rotate Barnes, Gray and Vokes as much as you like. Re: Vokes mobility
Why do people keep suggesting we sign 2 injury prone strikers?
Can't we try and sign someone else, or aren't completely new strikers allowed?

To be fair thought Sam didn't look 100% today. I'm a big fan of Vokes but he looked off the pace and never at any point looked the player we know he can be.

Perhaps some help with diet?KRBFC wrote:He could learn a thing or two from that lump they had upfront.. as crazy as that sounds.
Nothing to learn there, he was just up for it.
Basically Tarkowski and Keane had very little trouble from him, our problems lay elsewhere in my humble opinion.

He offered a physical threat and won alot more in the air than Vokes.boatshed bill wrote:Perhaps some help with diet?

Re: Vokes mobility
Barnes first challenge? You mean the one where he jumped into the defender about 5 seconds before the ball arrived, giving away a free kick? That one. Yeah, really positive that was.Pimlico_Claret wrote:He's too soft for a big lad, should have been bossing their centre halves today, Barnes first challenge when he came on was more positive than anything Sam did all game. I think it's a big part of the game personally. Yes it was a foul by Barnes but he's letting his direct opponent know this is going to be a physical battle and I'm up for it. Vokes does lack this and I've thought it ever since he signed, not just today.
Barnes does this every game and doesn't always concede a free kick btw.

Re: Vokes mobility
Barnes is in your face and is not easy to play against and his touch is good, tso the striking colleague on the day can often pick something from it. He also usually plays well against the top sides ie Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal. Particularly away Barnes & Vokes are easy to contain
As for the post that says our 3 strikers have got us to 12th in the PL lets see how many goals come from these 3 between now and May

Re: Vokes mobility
He does concede the same free kicks every single game. He wins less in the air than Vokes by some distance. Vokes isn't "too soft" he just doesn't recklessly jump into his opponent.RocketLawnChair wrote:I think it's a big part of the game personally. Re: Vokes mobility
KRBFC, we actually dealt with Rhead fairly easily.
Lincoln created one chance, which they scored from, and even that wasn't a corner.
Its a complete one off, and comparing someone who plays up front in the conference to premier league strikers who have done well this season is frankly, a bit like people saying Barton has always been a liability.

To be fair Lincoln missed their best chance in first half.
Re: Vokes mobility
I'd be shipping both Vokes and Gray out in. Summer and upgrading if we want to improve. I would keep Barnes as he offers much more with his presence although not too many goals.
Re: Vokes mobility
Matt Rhead is 32. He isn't good enough to play professional football at a higher level. That's why he drives JCB's for a living.Lancasterclaret wrote:KRBFC, we actually dealt with Rhead fairly easily.

And yet he's been compared to someone who, at the very least, is a very good Championship striker.

Re: Vokes mobility
It always seems to me and I like Sam, that he's not worth playing if we're not going to get crosses in. Same situation as Andre, with the wrong type of service there's little chance he'll score.

Re: Vokes mobility
Remember Vokes didn't get the summer break, in my opinion would have been better to start with him alone up front get a shift out of him and then bring on Barnes and Gray to raise the pace of the game.No element of surprise yesterday.

Sorry Bordeaux, you are right, they created two chances, one of which they scored from.

yeah I'm sure he'd have had memorable performances against City in a 1-0 and scored 20+ in a promotion season to the Prem.
Rheid is a big lump who had his momemt in the Sun because the ref was soft as **** And for all those fans turning on Barton whatabout the hatchet job they did on Gudmundssen.
Am I the only one here who really wanted to see that cheating t*** take a right crack off the ball?
