Tom Kelly and Richard Ratcliffe were the other Clarets I remember, I take it your initials are JS ? I'm Chris R, the only reason you might remember me is for the Rugby. It's good to hear that there were more Clarets there after I left. We were surrounded by fans of the usual suspects, Leeds, Man U, Liverpool, Everton.dpinsussex wrote:I can remember at least 10 on the minibus going to deepdales plastic pitch watching a great clarets performance.

Yes, I've figured who you are and yes, Joe is my younger brother. I saw Dave Hopkin's and Regina Arkwright's picture in the Lancashire Telegraph and I was taught by both of them.I only found out recently that Stuart Ingham died soon after retirement. Very sad - one of my favourite teachers.Clarets4me wrote:It may be I've got your first name wrong, if you were the same year as Richard & Tom Kelly then it's my fault..I take it you've figured me ? Re: Which school did you got to?
Yes that was sad, Sciences weren't my strongpoint ( That's putting it mildly ! ) but I remember him well. Colin Haworth, Fred Bury, Bill Proctor and Fred Raby have also moved on to the " Great Classroom in the Sky ". I spoke to Roger Hughes, PE teacher, a few months ago... he still does some reporting for Sky on a Saturday, usually from one of the N/W lower league games. Glad you're keeping well...Holmeclaret wrote:Yes, I've figured who you are and yes, Joe is my younger brother. Funny how nobody on here went to Fearns. It was and is the much bigger school in Rossendale...
Fearns was not a school it was a day centre. No one received much of an education at Fearns when I went in the 70s.
From what I am led to believe its not much better today, but at least they now have a curriculum.

Re: Which school did you got to?
Claretcliff, no I never kept in touch. Didn't settle until 1976 and I was in a whole new world then. Tried that Reunite site a few years back and exchanged a couple of emails but wasn't in the best of health/frame of mind at the time and just too much going on for me to pursue anything. But it's good that there are quite a few on here from school. Mental really. Anyway best wishes to you and yours.
