Didn't really get school for some reason, probably quite deep. Philip Green was my fav teacher. Couldn't grasp it when he died. He was so funny. Paul Fox watching the cricket on tv whenever possible. Gaz Smith at games. The rest of them I never really connected with and played too much football to do any homework, lol.

Never knew he was a Claret!

Sorry to here about his passing. Thoughts go out to his family.
Thanks for the kind words.

His wife (my aunt) was head teacher at a primary school (Gannow Top ?)
I only ever met him half a dozen times, Always thought he was a nice chap, obviously didn't know him as a teacher.

He went in peace and with dignity.

I'm really surprised there's no more 'Sunnybankers' (Manchester Road). Don't think its open anymore and the old Head Mistress is still doing time??

Quirky place, a bit boot-camp like but a happy couple of years.

Think the pump and cross country were his hobbies! I think I remember Mr Cregg was he a fairly young teacher? Didn't like maths at school which is ironic as I have worked with figures most of my working life. Who was the old teacher that used to fall asleep in lessons  ? Think it was Mr Saul, but could be wrong.

Secondary - Baines Grammar
Played a fair number of football games against some of the schools named in this thread while at Baines :)

I was the GK for Walton High in the early 90s (albeit very poor, other than a few penalty saves) Was only there a couple of years before moving South.

I was at Towneley from 69 - 74.
It was Mr Wall the history teacher that used to fall asleep in lessons! Mr Saul was PE/Games, always wore tracksuit bottoms and a white vest. I remember we had 4 'Houses' Assheton (Red) Starkie (yellow) Towneley (green) Shuttleworth (blue). Remember having inter house swimming galas, and sports days up on lower Towneley fields......great days

Eloise laws,
swimming galas and sports days on lower townley fields, I know the fields could be wet but thought the swimming galas were at North street, Remember the sports days were on the playing fields then at Barden running track ( I may have been in the year below you as went 1970-75
