Will gaining £100 mill per season make us an attractive club to buy?
Will gaining £100 mill per season make us an attractive club to buy?
That's my one big fear that the board get an offer too good to turn down and like West Brom, Bournemouth etc. we become the latest club to have foreign owners who care little for the club, only the money involved.

You want Chinese owners. They seem to have the ££££s

Most of that £100million is spoken for if one wants to go on getting £100mill/yr

3-4 seasons and it becomes a decent pot of money, especially with our wage structure.

So the current board will 'care little for the club' and 'only the money involved', if they get an offer 'too good to turn down'.

You ought to keeping your eye on the old Indian Rope trick, Saxo, rather than a Chinese Takeaway.
If they disappear on you, as all seem to want them to, so could your club.

Blackburn struggled selling the club with £20m debt in the Premier League, yet somehow think they can sell with £107m debt in the Championship(could be League One)....how the mind works over there is beyond me.
If they go down this season then I can only see League Two Football, and possible administration, within 3 years.
Regarding Burnley, I'd rather we remained a locally owned club. The surety of our club is that at some point, be it 1 year, 5 years or 10 years, we will be a Championship club again. Playing in a league of around 12 clubs (not Inc top sides) almost ensures it. I'd rather have a Mike Garlick making decisions than the Wu Tang Clan.

Even though they're from New York...

I guess this implies that there is a suggestion that our current Chairman and Board of Directors would like to cash in their chips and run to the hills with sack loads of money. This would also imply that they are only in it for the money.
I have seen nothing thus far to suggest either from them. Long may it remain so.

I don't think there is any suggestion they'd like to sell. However, I'm sure like everyone else, if they received a very attractive offer for the club they would consider it. That's only being human.Corky wrote:I guess this implies that there is a suggestion that our current Chairman and Board of Directors would like to cash in their chips and run to the hills with sack loads of money. Re: Will gaining £100 mill per season make us an attractive club to buy?
There was a long interview posted (on here I think) from the press where Mr Garlick states that they have been offered serious money to sell several times already but the current board are not interested in letting outsiders take control of the club. The impression he gave was the right investment would be welcomed but selling a controlling interest is not on the table. They see themselves as "caretakers" who are very much interested in "the legacy" of the club, they want to go down in the history books as modern day Bob Lords (without the edges).
Sure someone will post the interview, I would link it but cannot remember the title.

Spijed see above; hence my hint at suggestion. They have already made it clear how they want to play it and pocketing the money and running for the hills, thankfully, is not part of their strategy.
I suppose in fairness we are now attractive to outside influences but these appear to have been rebuffed. Again, long may it remain so.

If the Board think we can get outside investment whilst retaining overall control of the club then why not

The thing is with our Club we never need to big it up and everyone will be looking at us now.
Especially now that we have entered a chapter in our history that our Club is one of the most profitable in Europe. We might not be a mighty City Club but we are well looked after and long may this continue.
My only thought is that if we establish our self's in this huge pond and go on to crack a European birth again then I think that the market to buy us out will become unattainable to keep, and the big guns will be queuing up
Its a fair gone conclusion from when the paparazzi vultures was queuing up at the Turf on the Orient game in it
My thoughts keep things British UTC
