I was having a decent chat with some Reading fans when a small number of gobshites started up.
I didn't have to do much, the Reading fans I was chatting to told the gobby ones to get lost

I don't think it was, not certain.
A mate of mine who's a Reading fan was sat in the home end just shaking his head in disbelief though when the others ran on the pitch.

10 clear with 12 to play out of them 12 how games do the bottom 6 play each other. So there bound to take points off each other. I'd like to think we only need half a point a game 6pts to stay up

I live close to Reading too, so have a lot of Reading supporting friends. I do like to remind them, very often, about that pitch invasion.FactualFrank wrote:I was there.

We will virtually have to lose all our remaining games and all the trailers win many more than they are capable of. Stop worrying

I was really sad after the Lincoln game. Then I thought, would I prefer to beat Lincoln and lose at hull ? Today we got a deserved point at Hull and I feel really good. Yes we will stay up

I am 95 percent sure we will stay up. Too much rubbish below us.

There are only three points for a win, two for a draw and there aren't enough of them for the bottom sides between them to get that many to make our position too difficult.
Two points for a draw? Have I missed something?

Re: Are we safe
Would be interesting to know, and i haven't got time to work it out. How many points could the teams in the bottom half actually accumulate with the games left. I.E with teams in the bottom half playing each other, there is only a set amount of points available. That being the case, there must be a points target that if we reach is unreachable for other teams.
Re: Are we safe
One game at a time and once we have x points and three teams can get x-1 points we will be safe. Same every season.
At 10 points clear or 9 if Leicester get at least a point tomorrow with 12 to go it is a situation that few teams have blown in the past- although I think Norwich have once.

Yes, still think we are. The current bottom 3 are likely the teams going down. We'd have to completely capitulate to get dragged into it now. We'll be fine but performances like today don't help. Dyche let us down today but he's stored up enough good karma.

No!!! Absolutely no guarantee we'll pick up the required 8/9 points. If we're going to do it it HAS to be at home against some more than decent opposition, because we certainly won't collect the points away!!

Re: Are we safe
The match at The Stadium of Light will probably be the only game all season where S'land start favourites! For a good reason. So then we move on to our home games against Spurs (second and flying) and Stoke. (more than decent and certainly belligerent) Ok 6 points needed, but I'm struggling to see where from just now.ElectroClaret wrote:We don't require 8/9 points.

Re: Are we safe
If the bottom 3 can all average 1 point per game from their remaining fixtures which is considerably better than they have done to date, we would stay up with ONE WIN and could lose the rest of our games.

Re: Are we safe

Re: Are we safe
Don't think we need 8 or 9 points to be safe.
That would mean one of Boro, Hull and Sunderland getting 17/18/19 points from their remaining fixtures.
However, one of those (probably Hull) could easily get 14/15 or 16 points and that might mean we need
another 5 or 6 to ensure we stay up.
The away games at Sunderland and Boro' may well determine our fate (and theirs).
If we can avoid defeat in those games then I think we should be safe assuming we can pick
up a few points at home.
We're not safe. Far from it. Those that think we are clearly don't know how football
can turn. We could lose our next three or four and be looking over our shoulders.
Hopefully not.

3 points will probably do it, 5 will almost certainly be enough.
Would be absolutely amazed if we don't survive.

Re: Are we safe
We could very, very easily go into free fall. It's quite normal historically for somebody from "mid table" to suddenly lose a few and get sucked into the dog fight almost from nowhere. I keep thinking it might be B'mouth, but it could so easily be us.
Re: Are we safe
But I doubt any team in free fall has failed to pick up zero points with 11 matches to go.Dark Cloud wrote:We could very, very easily go into free fall. Not yet, but we are very close. We're averaging over a point a game so far, we'd have to drop way below that in the remaining games to be in any kind of real danger.

In fairness Spijed it doesn't need to be zero points. 3 or 4 would be potentially disastrous (depending on who those points were taken off)Spijed wrote:But I doubt any team in free fall has failed to pick up zero points with 11 matches to go.

If the bottom 3 continue to pick up points at the same rate, and there's no reason why they won't, then we won't even need another point to stay up.

By putting a run together i think we are fine & im not panicking because even though our away form is dreadful other teams are worse cant win at home or away pick sporadic 3 pts up & odd draws. 36 will be enough as I've already said.Spijed wrote:Where are Hull or Boro going to get another 15 points from in the remaining 11 games, or Sunderland 18 from 12 matches?

Not filled with confidence after today's showing.
But still think we'll be ok with another 3 or 4 points.
Need a building job doing for next season though.
