Free Online Football Management Game, Xpert 11 - Clarets Championship

Hi all.

Xpert11 is an online football management game that lets you build a team, set the tactics, make the press releases all whilst competing against like-minded people. It can take as little as 20 minutes a weeks to as much as 20 minutes an hour if you get hooked.

We have a Clarets Championship where there are currently 50+ active teams managed by Clarets fans. We're about to enter our 44th season.

If this sounds even slightly interesting to you then why not give it a go? You can sign up at the website http://www.xperteleven.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, once registered you can find the league using the league ID 43119. I'll then need to approve the application which will take up to a maximum of 12 hours.

You will be able to either take over an existing team that's sacked it's manager (for inactivity, not poor performance - you can be as poor as you want and stay in the job!) or start up an entirely new team.

The season will be a week or 2 away from starting but best to sign up now to get in before the door closes and so you can get the most from pre-season.

Signed up this afternoon and entered the league,

Just looking through now getting to grips with things.

I have downloaded the app for this as much better for me to keep a track of things, I am guessing as a new team I will enter in the lowest division?

Also if anyone else has the app, how do I set a new formation? Trying to change from 4-4-2 but each time I change, and save the changes, when I go back onto my squad list to pick the team it goes back to 4-4-2.

Any help much appreciated.

Also is it worth getting VIP version?

I haven't used the app so I can't help you there just now, I'll have a look later.

VIP is good and useful but I wouldn't recommend getting it straight away though, see how you go without it and if you're hooked get a month to try it out.

Thanks for the reply, worked out the tactics now on the app, and I'll wait and see for VIP, thanks for the advice.

Just one final question for now, does your budget go down with wage payments or can I use the budget and not have to worry about payments taking me into debt?

There's no wages you just pay for training as and when needed / wanted and sign players. You get 1 million per week plus 200k if you write a press release. Only other outgoings are your youth academy if you choose to invest in it.

Hi everyone - can't recommend this game enough. Great little time killer and a lot of good banter with fellow Clarets in the press releases.

It's easy to master and can be played for as little as 5 minutes twice a week, but if you're anything like me you may end up spending a lot longer poring over tactics and scout reports...

Give it a go, it costs nothing and you might enjoy it.

Lotty had 14 teams in different leagues.He ran 2 of the leagues and was assistant admin in a number of other leagues.He persuaded me to join 2 leagues and I have got into the game now and enjoy it.When Ray(Lotty)died I had the job of unscrambling his 14 teams.It was almost a full time job for him.

If anyone wants to try the VIP you can have a one month trial for just 10p.

I have just signed up but just got 3 promotions in my first 3 seasons so it's not essential.

Is there something I need to do to accept this or will a notification pop up? If it is notification based then nothing has come through yet.

If you're on the app, the friendly request won't pop up. There isn't a workaround that I know of.

If you've logged in via website or facebook then you'll get a mail in-game inviting you to a friendly game.

Been on both app and website and no friendly request has arrived,

Though a new game against Spartak Colne has appeared but I haven't accepted this requested but the friendly is already scheduled.

Not played this game in years. But wasn't it a case of, the longer you have been playing the game the better your squad will be? I know that used to be the case. It meant you could never really gain much on teams who had been in longer, regardless of what you did.

You are at an advantage the longer you play but a teams shelf life on lasts so long with a couple of the big clubs currently rebuilding.

If a new manager went for Youthful small squad within 5 seasons you could develop a great squad.

You need to be lucky in the youth department as good players in the transfer market seem to keep rising in price.

Initially that is true, but, after about the 10th season those teams that were far ahead will have all their top players retire and they'll have to rebuild from scratch. It's something of a cycle.

That happened to me. Went from bottom division to the Championship in 4 seasons, then everyone started to retire or go down in skill because of age.
Tried to rebuild with younger lads and plummeted 3 divisions again

Just had a bit of a look around and so the demography of players and saw 2% were from Romania.

Just wondering if perhaps the players in Romania were from Bucharest in particular?

Looking forward to the season starting on Thursday.

This is my first season so straight into division 4, is there a cup competition which takes place at some point in the season?

No, to have a cup competition you have to have every member of the league a VIP. Or extend the season with not everyone playing on matchdays when knocked out

I don't use the app so I don't get gold coins. I understand you can use them to customise your kit and badge in the app. Beware, only other app users can see the changes though. In the same vein, my custom kit from the desktop log in can't be seen by app users. It's a very different experience playing via the app to the desktop version.

Hello everybody. I have taken over as League admin from Matt and the time has come to push for new managers ahead of a new season.

The league is still vibrant, exciting and fun, so I would recommend anybody try the link from the OP and get setting up a team. You can choose to take over an already existing team or try a brand new one in the bottom division.

One thing I can promise, there will be NO politics talked on there! A welcome escape I'm sure.

Kings Clarets, White Midget and Montgomery FC have now been approved. You can now access your teams, do transfers and arrange friendly matches ahead of the new season.

That takes me back I had a team in this on the opening season of the Clarets league, after playing in some of the national leagues. Used to spend hours on photoshop making kits.... the joys of being salaried and on top of your job! lol. Now I'm the boss the mere thought of the time I dedicated to it seems like another world

I had a team in the early years and then had a break for a few years. Come back playing again about a year ago.

The transfer system is a lot harder to get good players from now though, like the premier league the fees have gone way overboard.

I was into it at the start too. I remember taking over a team in the 3rd division that had our kit at the time as theirs. Don't really remember the transfer market but remember waiting to make money to spend on training.

I have had huge success Harry Redknapp style taking over clubs and buying 1m over 30s players, but it only takes you so far as they keep retiring.

Trying to develop some good youngsters this time, but getting a team with 15/16 rated players in seems a lifetime away.
