Love it! After a wet Tuesday night match nothing better than a bene and hot in the Miner's while reading the rest of the results on TV.

Took a hip flask of the amber nectar to Hull, and it went down very nicely, as did the score.

For anything else i would know but only time ive had it is on the turf. Thinking about it never seen it in duty free although asmittedly never looked.

Get some Żubrówka. Not a Vodka drinker myself but this stuff is brilliant. Was about 3 quid a litre when I first went to Poland and Ukraine. Its from Poland but contents native to Lithuania and Belarus as well. Its in shops over here now though and price has rocketed

10 hours into a 24 hour train ride the decision to buy 12 litres of this and no food between us seemed a bad idea. We ended up trading a bottle for pig fat and cucumberd with two Russians. Desperate times.

That's funny - I've had a bottle of that stuff in my special cupboard for about 6 years. It was given to me by a Polish bloke I worked with at the time - I gave him some baby stuff in readiness for his new arrival and this is how he repaid me. Do you drink it straight ??

Been to Lithuania many times, I built and ran a factory there for several years and don't think I saw Bene on sale there. Zubrowka vodka is without doubt the best in Eastern Europe: I also built and ran five factories in Poland and my Polish colleagues told me it was called Zubrowka (bison) because the bison peed on the grass and land that nourishes the potatoes.

I absolutely hate vodka but this stuff was lovely.

Drink it straight? We had to down it through a funnel if we lost a round of some random football quiz we made up  but in seriousness yes I had it straight. Others with lemonade. its ot as harsh as some vodka and has its own distinct flavour.

The russians on the train drank it like mothers milk

I would not bank on Benedictine being on sale in Lithuania.

May even be cheaper in Asda or other leading supermarkets, as mentioned above!

I assume you will be in Vilnius, which is a beautiful city with many good restaurants and bars, similar to Riga and Tallin but bigger in scale. It's ten years since I was there and I used to go to the bars where the students frequented for a nice change: there was one called the Iron Wolf, which was a good laugh, however it may not even exist now.
The natives are friendly and I always felt at home there. Don't forget your thermals. Enjoy.

Flying into Vilnius but beyond that no set plans. Maybe Klaipeda, Kaunas, Riga or Grodno. Have you done any?

Tallin was far smaller than I expected bit nice nonetheless.

is Vilnius noticebly bigger? What about the old town?

Be amazed to hear you can get Bennies out there. It's not even widely stocked over here outside East Lancashire.

you can get it here in Las Cruces! Both liquor stores carry it. $35 a bottle mind.

How much 'hot' and how much 'bene' in a bene and hot?

"I don't like hot drinks!". :D

Also popular is the Frisky Bison cocktail, in it's simplest form just zubrowka, apple juice and ice.
Some more elaborate versions add some apple liqueur and a splash of lime.

Famously banned in America owing to a small amount of a chemical which can thin the blood being present due to the addition of the grass to flavour.

Got given a bottle of zubrowka a couple of years ago. It's the nicest vodka i've ever had.

The Bene goes well in a liqueur coffee for the missus, when I can get hold of some down here.

I remember seeing this display at Singapore airport. Benedictine is actually quite popular in Malysia/Singapore. Post-pregnancy the mother is meant to eat "warming" foods and Benedictine is viewed as one of the ingredients for warming dishes
