The weekend just improved
Mackems 0-2 City.Another good result following Boros and Hulls but we need a win at Anfield next week.Hopefully Defour and Johann will be fit along with Tom.Liverpool have a poor back four and we must get at them early on.Sit back and play for a draw and we will get beaten.

Re: The weekend just improved
It's slightly concerning when it seems every weekend we're looking for other teams to do us a favour. Ultimately, if we can't perform on the pitch and bring in the points, we'll go down.
Re: The weekend just improved
JBG will still be unavailable according to Mr Dyche. His pace away from home has been missed though.
Re: The weekend just improved
Most supporters of every club in the bottom half will look for other results in the hope that results go their way, and do so season after season i.e. it's entirely normal and natural

JBG and Defour will be a bonus for the rest of the season. I don't see them playing many more minutes.MACCA wrote:JBG will still be unavailable according to Mr Dyche. His pace away from home has been missed though.

narural? Anyway - no it's not. If your team is playing well and getting the points, we don't give a toss.taio wrote:Most supporters of every club in the bottom half will look for other results in the hope that results go their way, and do so season after season i.e. it's entirely normal and narural.

Defour will when Joey gets banned, that's why I feel Sean isn't risking/rushing him back early.
I like JBG he is very positive and has a goal in his locker too

Natural as edited - im not great typing on my phone but obvious nonetheless.
And yes it is absolutely normal for supporters to track their nearest rivals whether that's towards the top or bottom end of the league.

If the other teams keep losing and can't get as many points as we already have (I know it won't happen) then we will have performed sufficiently on the pitch to bring in enough points and stay up?FactualFrank wrote:It's slightly concerning when it seems every weekend we're looking for other teams to do us a favour. Re: The weekend just improved
We need 5-7 points from 11 games. The reason for it being so few is that the other teams below us will drop points as highlighted in the magic numbers thread. Do you think Chelsea fans don't cheer when they see teams below them drop points? It might be different teams they are looking at for poor results but they are still looking.FactualFrank wrote:narural? Anyway - no it's not. Do you want us to believe that last season you weren't looking or hoping for each worse result for Boro or Brighton and being pleased on every such occasion?
PS If I ever get blase and arrogant enough to not care about other teams results I will give up on football altogether.

Seems it's only you who doesn't get it. Most supporters will look at the results around them even when they're winning. Chelsea fans will be chuffed when City get beat, for example

If we win, then we look at teams around us, to see how they're doing because we could finish higher up the table.
THAT'S WHY WE CARE

Re: The weekend just improved
You've basically just admitted to not getting the point. You said 'around us'. Well the bottom 3 are not currently 'around us' are they? My point is (and I feel like I'm trying to teach kids here), is that if we win - it doesn't matter. We'll get the points needed to stay up. Teams play each other (and 6 points can't be gained), so if we win - forget it - we've won.Sidney1st wrote:If we win, then we look at teams around us, to see how they're doing because we could finish higher up the table.

Anyway, that's all I have to say on the matter.

Football wise the weekend doesn't get better when Burnley have lost.
Never has, and never will.

Re: The weekend just improved
You didn't need to say anything in the first place, you don't care what else happens in the league and don't you have us down for relegation anyway on a different thread?FactualFrank wrote:You've basically just admitted to not getting the point. If we win plenty of us still look at the league and other results.
You can teach kids whatever you want, but me and my kids keep an eye on all the scores regardless of how we do....
Its natural to do so.

Even if we were sat comfortable in higher mid I'd be checking results and looking at the whole division.... even if its just a case of which grounds are closer for next season's away games or teams I have a soft spot for in comparison to others....

I check results and look at the league table for the top 5 Divisions in England, La Liga, Seria A and Ligue 1 every week

Re: The weekend just improved
Frank stop worrying fella.
Every thread I look at you seem to be there posting about being drawn into a relegation scrap.
Worrying in general is a waste of time and effort and a danger to your health.
The majority of things people worry about never happen anyway. What will be will be.
Its a great season, far in excess of expectations, dont spoil it for yourself with your constant worrying,
Remember your user name, factual. Fact is thr chance of being relegated from here is about 25/1 so highly unlikely.
Get on with your every day life and stop worrying.

Re: The weekend just improved
titsoutforthelads, don't worry. I have a wonderful girlfriend (she supports Bury so why would I worry?) and football doesn't make me feel low at all. I'm absolutely fine, I just like to give my thoughts on football related things. My point has never been don't ever look at other team's results. Any intelligent person would know that - it's purely that if we win, we win. There's no need to panic and look at the other results. We've done the best we can do. Now, if some don't understand that basic logic, that's not my problem.

Re: The weekend just improved
First results i look for are a certain team down the road, ok not in our league but still them getting beat in their present position helps dull the pain if we don't get 3pts!
Re: The weekend just improved
I'd guess he has created more chances, crossed the ball more and been far more positive than Boyd this season ( not a dig at Boyd )Silkyskills1 wrote:
You need pace on the break away from home to ease the pressure on the defence, win free kicks and throw ins.
Think he would be a better option away from home to get up the pitch quicker.
Our midfield on Saturday was so slow and 1 dimensional it was scary. Even a 20 yard pass looked complicated.
Boyd offered zero going both ways, time for a change from the start. Boyd would have been better coming on for the last 20 Saturday IMO.

You name another club who's supporters don't look at the results that could affect them and I'll call you a liar. It's nonsense! Why were Middlesbrough fans saying thank god for Burnley when we got a point against hull?FactualFrank wrote:It's slightly concerning when it seems every weekend we're looking for other teams to do us a favour. Re: The weekend just improved
Hi FactualF, I was informed earlier this evening that Burnley are 18/1 with SkyBet for relegation, longer than Watford at 15/1. A lot of teams on much shorter odds.FactualFrank wrote:Read again and come back. If you still have the same thoughts, stop posting.
We aren't going down. We aren't in a relegation fight. Burnley are now playing for middle-table position. The higher we finish the bigger the financial rewards. Repeating what others have said, each position is worth £2 million. So, 5 places above 17th and we can think of it as another £10 million to spend on strengthening for next season.
