I watched this on tv, mixed emotions really, proud but also disappointed because Liverpool offered very little.

Hence:

All of them 7.

Can't fault the players much today but we must very quickly stop dropping so deep at crucial times, substitutions a bit bizarre today
Heaton 6
Lowton 8
Ward 8
Mee 7
Keane 9
Barton 7
Hendrick 7
Boyd 7
Arfield 7
Barnes 7
Gray 8
Brady 5 (more down to Dyche than the player)

Heaton 6 should have saved their second with ease from our view
Lowton 7 solid but poor crossing and finishing. Hes the opposite of trippier as a right back
Ward 8 solid linked up with arfield well too
Mee 7
Keane 8 class on the ball and aerially
Boyd 7
Arfield 8 thought he played well going forward and back
Barton 6
Hendrick 7
Gray 6
Barnes 8

Disappointing again. We are lacking in composure when going forward too often. Thought Heaton should have stopped their second and the less said about their first the better.

We're well and truly in the relegation mix. Absolutely crucial game next Saturday

Heaton 5.5 Poor for the second goal.
Lowton 7 great ball for our goal.
Ward 7
Mee 8 won every header
Keane 8 class
Boyd 6 could have stopped the cross for the first, made no attempt at all, looks worse every time I see it
Arfield 7 played well, and a lot better than the lad he replaced in the team when he came on.
Barton 6
Hendrick 7
Gray 7 had Klavan on toast we didn't utilise him enough, we went to high and long after about 30 mins
Barnes 7

Fair point and im a huge lowton fan. Just think he lacked compsure in a lot of crossing positions.

From telly

Heaton 6 thought he could have got the second, set off a bit late.
Lowton 8 excellent pass for our goal. bit more composure he could have scored near the end.
Ward 8 thought he played well
Mee 8 two CB's were very good today, I think Pool only had two shots on target
Keane 8
Boyd 7 grafted and some great tackles to stifle their midfield
Arfield 7 worked well today him and Ward looked good down the left
Barton 6 thought he had to many silly little challenges and falling over injured, he can do better
Hendrick 8 won some good headers and turning out to be a very good midfielder
Gray 6 not much to work with
Barnes 7 I would love him to go a game without moaning to the ref on every decision, maybe we would get a few more our way if he didn't do to many silly niggling fouls and complaining when it goes against him

Altogether Liverpool if they finish in top 4 we should at least be top 10, I thought we needed a bit more composure in front of goal and we should have got a point, but we will have to wait until Sunderland nest week for our first away win, we are getting closer.

Heaton - 7 - One good save in the game, could probably have got the deckchair out until then so little did Liverpool create, although he was a little slow off his line more than once.

Lowton - 8 - Outstanding cross for the goal. Perhaps passed up one or two other opportunities to deliver real quality, but he was always searching for that arcing, killer ball, which is the right thing to do, and he was a real outlet all afternoon. Defensively really solid after an initial worry against Mane. A shame he wasn't able to adjust his body quicker to smuggle a goal when he got the chance in the last minute.

Ward - 7 - Solid in defence and neat enough going forwards. Perhaps passed up a few opportunities to cross because the angle wasn' t quite right - unlike Lowton - and with a bit more bravery and decisiveness, he'd have got more ball into the box.

Keane - 9 - Absolutely imperious.

Mee - 8 - Slipped for their equaliser, which was a real shame, but otherwise excellent.

Barton - 8 - One ill-conceived misplaced pass in the first half aside, excellent on and off the ball.

Hendrick - 8 - Nothing particularly flashy, but astute passes like the one that got Lowton free for our goal underpinned a really mature performance. The contrast in attack and defence between this performance and his performance in a similar game at Old Trafford was enormous, and testament to his continued improvement.

Boyd - 7 - Thought he was really effective in the first half, particularly in the first 25 minutes, but after that he became an increasingly defensive influence and there were occasions in the second half when he was a bit chaotic in his use of the ball.

Arfield - 7 - Solid and unspectacular, but used the ball effectively and as always, tried to get it down and play and rarely hoofed it. We keep the ball better when he starts.

Gray - 8 - Absolutely terrorised Klavan in the opening half hour and was always a threat, but focused a bit too much on the inside right channel when Liverpool had got wise to that play.

Barnes - 7 - Took the goal exceptionally well, but should have had at least one more (he should have kept himself onside, and taken a touch to set up a glorious one on one, when Ward brilliantly found him in the first half, and he had two more presentable chances in the second half) and whilst his hold up play was decent enough, he gave away a few too many cheap free kicks.

Brady - 6 - Stationing him on the right was an odd move, and a couple of times it was easy to imagine that Arfield would have done better when balls broke to him on his right foot. But there were a couple of turns and touches which suggested he's getting to the pace of the Premier League and working out where he fits what we do.

Vokes/Agyei - not on long enough, but fair play to Agyei - what a place to make you debut.

The only real criticism I think you can make of that performance is that we failed to get close to that standard at either Hull or (by the sounds of it; I wasn't there) at Swansea. If we had, we'd have more than 1 point from those two games. If we replicate it at Sunderland and Boro, we'll get at least a couple of points from those two games. We lost the game, but we were compact, organised, attacked with purpose and as much craft as we've seen all season and generally created the better chances in a tight game. Unfortunately, we lost to a slip from the otherwise excellent Ben Mee, and as sweet a strike as you'll see from 30 yards.

If you are being critical, we dropped too deep in that final minute of the first half and allowed a ball to go into our 6 yard box which should have been going into a striker 10 yards further out, which perhaps reflects our struggles in injury time - we drop to deep to protect what we have. And also, perhaps we ought to have been a bit more positive when we had the chance to deliver into the box in the final 10-15 minutes. But these are minor gripes in what was in many respects an ideal away performance. As Carragher and Redknapp said after the game, Burnley simply didn't look like a team who have any reason to worry about relegation at all, and that is the big message we should take as many fans seem to be getting downcast and jittery during what was always going to be a tough run.

We go again next week, and if we play like that, we'll be absolutely fine.

Heaton 5 got to do better for 2nd.
Lowton 7 great cross, has to score at death though
Ward 7 solid game
Mee 7 decent game again but always a loose moment in him.
Keane 9 outstanding
Boyd 6 not at his best
Arfield 7 thought he was ok
Barton 7 solid enough
Hendrick 8 thought he looked the part
Gray 7 always felt he was a decent pass away from something
Barnes 7 played well but being pulled up for persisntant fouls is annoying

Brady 4 wrong side but dreadful
Vokes 6 didn't have long

Outstanding for 25 mins then organised and hard working for the rest. A lack of composure on the ball from many of the team hampered us second half in beating what on the DAY was poor opposition. Today was a real chance to take some points.

Heaton 6
Lowton 7
Ward 7
Keane 9
Mee 6
Boyd 6
Arfield 6
Barton 8
Hendrick 8
Gray 7
Barnes 6 (way too many fouls breaking up any chance of building momentum / pressure)

It played out more or less as expected. Although I'm shocked that a team that average sits 4th.

Mee 7
Keane 8 *

Boyd 6

Heaton 5- I think he needs to lose a few lbs, gets down to slow.
Lowton 6- defensively fine, +1 for assist, crossing otherwise is still awful.
Mee 7 - Never looked under pressure, distribution needs work.
Keane 8- Classy
Ward 8- one of the most consistent performers in the team, gave Mane nothing.
Barton 7- typical Barton, got about the pitch worked hard and gave his all.
Hendrick 7- quiet game but kept it ticking, would have liked to see more drive.
Arfield 5- woeful, should have been hooked.
Boyd 5- offers nothing going forward.
Barnes 7 - +1 for goal, otherwise ineffective, gives away far too many fouls, he jumps to win a foul or foul never to win the ball.
Gray 8 - caused them problems in behind constantly shame we struggle to feed him the correct service.

Agyei 9- best player on the pitch MOM.

Brady 4

First of all, not Brady's fault, I bet he has never played right in his life, but my Aunt Doris has a better right foot than that.

Mee was pretty good, one or two desparate lunge blocks and his relative lack of talent at this level (note - relative) caused him to lose his balance yet again at a crucial time (like Hull), resulting in the goal. He gave it away in that move too. I understand the posters marks on here but if Dyche gives him 8's in his head for performances like that, we'll continue to concede in this manner, because Ben's balance is a bit like Andre's first touch, it stands out in this league but not in the league below, and razor sharp finishing punishes it. I feel for him because he is gutsy and deserves better luck.

All in all a top performance, a wonder assist, totally dominated them I thought, and mistakes aside anyone who thinks we are going down is in cloud cuckoo land. There aren't any signs of it.

Heaton 7 – one save to make and made it. Otherwise redundant
Lowton 9 – really good performance and superb ball in for the goal
Keane 8 – pretty solid. Liverpool hardly had a sniff
Mee 7 – likewise but yet again we’re conceding and Ben’s at the heart of it even though he’s a bit unlucky
Ward 8 – caused them a lot of problems
Boyd 7 – really good first half but faded second
Hendrick 8 – brilliant again
Barton 7 – a bit sloppy at times and could have cost us but dug in
Arfield 7 – Somewhat wasteful in our best period but much better second half
Gray 8 – scared them to death but needs to fall over more to get refs to notice he’s being fouled
Barnes 8 – great finish but had pawson as well as the CBs on his back.
Brady 6 – struggled at first on the wrong side which was a shame because he did have some excellent touches later on
Vokes 6 – failed to make an impact – weird sub – I’d have gone for Agyei

A tough proposition but we pretty much dominated them for the first 25 minutes and had we not gifte3d them a soft equaliser this could have been very different. We deserved at least a point and if any side deserved to win they weren’t in red – we had enough chances to take all the points here and some sloppy finishing and some defensive lapses meant we walked away pointless

Surprised by some of the ratings on here. I thought we made Liverpool look very ordinary today. Our best away performance in the PL for some time.

Heaton 7 very little to do
Lowton 8 some missed crossing opportunities but otherwise very good
Keane 9 outstanding
Mee 9 for me he just pips Keane for mom
Ward. 8 accomplished performance
Boyd 7 first 30 minutes were outstanding
Hendrick 7 very solid
Barton 7 same as Hendrick
Barnes 8 great goal but not just that
Gray 7 caused a lot of trouble today
Brady 6 really rate him but didn't happen today

Heaton 7 – should have saved the shot from Can
Lowton 9 – Excellent all round performance and superb ball in for the goal
Keane 8 – pretty solid. Liverpool hardly had a sniff
Mee 8 – ball bounced off him for the first so unlucky, otherwise really solid and won every header
Ward 7 – solid performance
Boyd 7 – did what he does, ran and closed down making it difficult for Liverpool
Hendrick 8 – Quietly did his job, better than last game and promise of more to come.
Barton 7 – one misplaced pass but overall very tidy with the ball and made a few key interceptions
Arfield 7 – much better defensively than Brady and understands what Dyche wants, Brady still needs to gain that understanding
Gray 8 – great first half hour then the balls to the flanks dried up a little
Barnes 8 – great finish but was worried he might get another red
Brady 6 – still adjusting to what Dyche wants and to the Premier league
Vokes 6 – was calling for Agyei as sub, little impact from Vokes but a good set piece header that nearly worked

Heaton 5 Poor decision to dive left for the first goal when the shot went straight where he was stood
Lowton 7 General play fine, some terrible crossing and his assist was meant for Gray.
Keane 9 outstanding
Mee 8 Some good defending
Ward. 8 Decent game
Boyd 5 Run about a lot and negative with the ball.
Hendrick 7 solid
Barton 7 same as Hendrick
Arfield 7 worked hard but need more going forward.
Barnes 8 great goal and a nuisance but still too many antics.
Gray 7 caused a lot of trouble today
Brady 6 Did alright but what was Dyche thinking putting him on the right?

Heaton 6 though he could have done better with 2nd goal and to be honest he had very little else do, no chance with 1st goal, shame about the slip in front of him and the lucky bounce.
Lowton 8, extra one point for the pass, outstanding, good chance to score and be the hero at the end, what a pity, least we deserved
Ward 7
Mee 7
Keane 7
Barton 7
Hendrick 7
Boyd 6
Arfield 5 surprised he did not come off for Brady but what do I know
Barnes 7 a nuisance for sure
Gray 7 trying but still just off I think but he and Barnes kept worrying there defense
Brady 5 but was not playing where he should (I think) but he does what he is told like all of them, thought a strange decision from SD but maybe told to cut in and use his left foot but if so I don't think I saw that happen once :(

Of course all from TV, thought we deserved a point and if we had won no one could have really moaned, they got away with one today I think

Lowton would have been MOM for sure if he'd scored at the finish but it wouldn't quite drop tbf, it was an awkward one.

We were slighly unlucky where the ball landed in the box today. Not an excuse, just that a bit of luck helps.

From the pub

Heaton 7 - nowt wrong, but you can't help thinking he should be saving No 2 (harsh I know)
Lowton 8 - great cross for the goal and very solid
Ward 8 - defensively great and got forward whenever he could
Keane 9* - added a few million to his price tag
Mee 8 - won everything in the air, v unlucky with the goal
Boyd 7 - good first half, less said about the 2nd the better
Barton 8 - the scousers in the pub thought he was our best player. He wasn't, but he was very good
Hendrick 8 - excellent performance
Arfield 7 - best he's played for a while to be honest, did well
Barnes 8 - cracking finish, but if he'd have been as calm as their guy was with their chance, then he scores that 2nd chance. Otherwise great, and scared the willies out of the Liverpool back line
Gray 7 - excellent first half, Liverpool nullified him pretty well 2nd half

Vokes 7
Nice to see Aygei get on

We should have got at least a point, and probably deserved all three. We have to play with that tempo and application at Sunderland though!

Good to see Aygei on the pitch, although when Liverpool brought their 27year old on I was expecting the new Fowler/ Owen - hat trick and England call ups...

From the TV this week Boyd or Mee had my MOM.

Mee probably edged it

Heaton 6

Lowton 7 - Great cross, still too many wayward ones
Keane 10 - Why not. Didn't put one foot wrong.
Mee 8 - Seven or eight every week
Ward 8 - Solide

Boyd 7 - Better
Barton 6 - Took him a while to get into it today
Hendrick 7 - I like him
Arfield 7 - Always a bit more of a threat than Boyd for me

Gray 7 - Decent
Barnes 7 - The refs are aware of him now, he probably came up at one of their briefings. The guy needs to stop conceding possession by giving away obvious fouls.

Bar staff in the away end wearing Burnley shirts with 'McIlroy 8' on the back - 4/10. Naff

Heaton 6
Lowton 7
Mee 7
Keane 9
Ward 7
Arfield 7
Boyd 7
Barton 7
Hendrick 7
Gray 7
Barnes 7
Brady 6 (why the hell was he playing on the right. Very strange)

Should have stopped the cross for the first then Mee Slipped. No-one closing down for the second and Heaton should probably have done better. Two poor moments away from getting something. Overall a pretty good performance but still lacking creativity. We don't move the ball quick enough then end up having to go back and lump it forward. We are poor in the final third and can't seem to cross a ball. Playing Brady out of position does not help. Need to get something next week or the pressure really will be on.

Gutted for the lads; they played really well but again have nothing to show for it. If they maintain this level of performance, (and its a big if), I'm certain they'll get something at Sunderland, Middlesborough or both away fixtures.

Heaton 5. Think Tom's going through a bit of a dodgy period at the moment. Questions on both goals.
Lowton 8. Great cross for the goal; a couple of wild other crosses but solid defensively
Ward 8 So solid that I think Mane wandered off and found other of our defenders to attack
Mee 8. A willing warrior who has the worst luck every time he physically slips
Keane 9 MoM. Majestic display. Had Origi in his pocket all day. Liverpool need to buy him, they may just then win the league next year.
Barton 8 One poor cross field ball aside, he was pushing Michael for MoM
Hendrick 7 Good foil for Barton
Boyd 6 Good first half but faded badly in second
Arfield 7 Steady. Maintained possession well.
Barnes 8 Pain in the arse for Liverpool's defence all day
Gray 8 Scared 'em with good movement, especially first half
Brady 6 Odd decision to play him on the right but some promising touches

Weird one this as I thought we played really well yet were on the losing side :?:

Heaton 6 I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt regarding their 2nd goal. He was slightly un-sighted and it was a very sweet strike.
Lowton 7 Solid game and great pass for goal but could have done better with two other crossing chances.
Ward 7 Looks the part. Good game.
Mee 7 Would have been an 8 but for the slip for their equaliser.
Keane 8 MOM Looks every bit a Prem CB.
Barton 7 Joey did OK apart from one lapse of concentration 1st half.
Hendrick 7 Away from home he's not as effective due to our long ball tactic but he worked his socks off.
Boyd 6 Game of two halves. Excellent 1st but largely anonymous 2nd.
Arfield 7 Scotty knows our system very well and his performance proved it.
Barnes 7 Great goal but I wish he's concentrate on the game instead of trying to rile the opposition.
Gray 7 He got zero protection from the ref and Liverpool just fouled him with impunity.
Brady 6 I was hoping he'd go wide left to link up with Wardy but SD had other ideas. I think his right foot is just for standing on judging by those couple of strikes.

Towards the back of the away section in Anfield lower, is not a good place to be if you suffer from claustrophobia

Heaton 7
Lowton 8
Ward 8
Mee 7
Keane 9
Barton 7
Hendrick 8
Arfield 7
Boyd 8
Gray 7
Barnes 8

A good performance, just a shame we didn’t take our chances.
Also, do they not sing at Anfield anymore...or do they just do it quietly?

Confused by the comments about Mee 'winning every header' as there was a spell in the 2nd half when he got beaten in the air 3 or 4 times in a row. He wasn't even close to them. His touch and passing continues to be poor too, and he costs us a goal every other week with a slip.

Can't believe I came away thinking there had been an injustice at Anfield. However I have to mark in relation to a defeat.
Heaton 6-I think he'll be disappointed with Can's goal, possibly unsighted
Lowton 7-His distribution can be at opposite poles, one minute sublime the next mediocre.
Keane 9-Thought he was brilliant
Mee 8-Part of the best CD partnership I've seen in my time watching the Clarets per se.
Ward 6-Tidy but nothing spectacular.
Boyd 6-Great fan of Georgie but think he faded for some reason.
Hendrick 7-Controlled CM
Barton 6-Solid for the majority of game with odd lapse.
Arfield 6-Think he played very well in first half but partially responsible for their opening goal with wayward header in stoppage time.
Barnes 9*-A handful and he's getting better and better.
Gray 7-Good first half but he faded.

Brady 5- Far from convincing although he didn't have long and played on right.
Vokes 6-For time on park, would have liked him to be introduced earlier.
