Best audiobooks

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Tue Mar 14, 2017 11:13 pm

Has anyone 'read' any recently that they would recommend?

I am after something a bit 'light' for nighttime listening. I am not into sci fi, fiction or fantasy. But anything Travel, Motivational, Sport, Comedy, Philosophical, Business or Non Fiction.

It has to be a good narator too. The Alan Partridge ones are great comedy as Coogan narrates them.

I bought The Secret a couple of years ago but keep feeling like I need to be in the right mood for it. Trouble is that mood never comes maybe I should just read it? Also got the one below in physical format from my dad yesterday.

For stuff a bit heavier I like anything related to Eastern Bloc politics / history. Although try not to read too much like that too often these days. But any good ones about Stalin, Lenin, Marxism, Tito etc I will have a dabble.

Spend a lot of time driving so like to use that for work related / motivational stuff. Got some books by Mark McCormack in physical format if anyone has any similar recommendations for that sort of book.

But anything light and easy listening in any of the above would be great.

The make or break of Audiobooks comes from the narrator. John Hurt and this bloke on the link are very good. If the narrator has no emotion or it sounds computerized like autotune then I don't bother because my attention span will just keep wandering off.

On this theme could someone advise a non techy person how to listen to audio books safely whilst working outdoors? Preferably wirelessly. I drove the tractor today for hours and was thinking how much I would enjoy this if possible. I do lots of farming type stuff, gardening, hedging, fencing etc on my own and have often thought of these audio books. My phone is a bit of an old banger samsung galaxy s3 gt19300. Any help appreciated cheers

Download the Audible app off the App Store. You can then purchase, download and listen to Audiobooks :)
