Thats it - we are down . . .

Post by rejected » Sun Mar 19, 2017 9:55 am

I make that game over!!

You deserved at least the point you got.

We didn't show anywhere near enough urgency, especially in the first half.

Good luck for the rest of the season. Maybe we will meet again in a few seasons time!! Hopefully in the premier league.

Feel for you rejected, but your performance yesterday was pitiful.
You could have sneaked it with a couple of breakaways, but you wouldn't have deserved it.
It's a shame, as there is no quick fix for Sunderlands plight. It may take a few years to turn it around, but the wait will be worthwhile in the end.

Good luck Lad.

Yes a poor show from Sunderland particularly in the 1st half, not the urgency/effort for a team needing 3 points. 2nd half better but abject finishing from a team lacking confidence.
Attendance of 42,000 was majestic in the Brexit capital of the north east. See you in a few years time rejected.

Such a pity. Best you can hope for is Boro to go down with you and Newcastle to blow promotion.

Don't be too down fella.

I was talking to 2 Sunderland lads on the metro after the game and I asked if they were resigned to going down.

"I've been resigned to going down for 5 years!" One of em said.

If you do it could (could!) Be a blessing in disguise! Get rid of the dead wood on big contracts. Get some young, more hungry lads in. And build on that. It's not like you haven't got the facilities, fan base and everything else needed to thrive in the prem, once you get back up.

I've always had a soft spot for Sunderland, don't tell the in laws there all geordies! All the best anyway.

You are, unfortunately, probably correct rejected. Your first half performance looked like a team who thought a point would suffice. The second half was better but still lacked the expected urgency of a team desperate to win this game.

As for your "We may be seeing them sooner than we reckon." - you really are a cheery person aren't you ABC? You've got your very own "we're awful thread", why not keep your negative crap on that one?

Don't worry Rejected. It could always be worse... it could be US going down

Only joking... Good luck for next season. Newcastle have shown that there is a huge gulf between bottom of the Prem and mid-table Championship.

Given the time Sunderland have been in the top flight, you could say they are established premier league. Would Burnley fans accept similar if it meant remaining in the top flight, or do you expect more?

Relegation hasn't done the Mags any harm and even skint Bolton look like they could rebound.
You've done it before. With your fanbase you should run close but you need to keep Moyes and get rid of half the team.

A year is a long time in football. The season after next Sunderland might be a division higher than us in the same division as us, or one or two divisions below us, who can tell.
