Mooy and Delph very good shouts.
When will we ever stop going on about Jay Rod though. If he was from Southampton we wouldnt even consider him!

We have Brady for the left its just the right winger we need now.AGENT_CLARET wrote:60 to 80 million over the summer a must on between 4 to 6 new player.........we need wide players first
Would like to see the defensive straitjacket taken off the wide players as at the moment we basically play like we have two full backs on each wing that just defend against opposition wingers.
Ward has been excellent getting forward recently though, hopefully Brady will settle in soon and we'll see a lot better performances from him....
Tracking back is not his game though so its up to Dyche to rejig his tactics on that one.

Tom ince, a legend in his dads ball bag, never a premiership winger not got enough pace or know how. I think we will target a winger, defensive minds, new CB & another striker but it will be pace & size of unit that will dictate.

I'd like a striker who gets 70+ goals every season and a goalie who never lets any in.

I won't name any targets, but we need to look at European markets, both for value and athleticism (pace in particular).

We wouldn't consider an England capped forward tipped for a move to a top 4 club before some misfortune with injuries which have seen him fall down the pecking order at his current club?cricketfieldclarets wrote:Mooy and Delph very good shouts.

Not even one who seems to tick virtually every box in terms of being able to offer a more skilful option to Barnes in the number 10 role, whilst also having the pace to play wide in a 4-5-1 or even as the lead striker?
I disagree to be honest. It so happens that Rodriguez is from Burnley and this might help us land him, but far more importantly, he has exactly the sort of skill set we are looking for, and also both the pedigree and current status (as a not-quite regular at an upper mid-table Premier League club) that we are looking for. He's tailor made for our requirements.

Re: Early summer targets.
Upgrade on both full backs. Robertson would be a start.
Upgrade on Barton / Defour
Upgrade on Barnes / Vokes
Centre half as cover / competition on the assumption Keane departs.
So 5 / 6 players should do it.

He is injury prone, rarley plays never mind scores and is on around 70k a week!claretspice wrote:We wouldn't consider an England capped forward tipped for a move to a top 4 club before some misfortune with injuries which have seen him fall down the pecking order at his current club?

I would rather look outside the box on this one. Andriy Yarmolenko who I mentioned above offers what Jay does and more. And will be far cheaper.

Re: Early summer targets.
I don't know what Rodriguez is on and if it is in the region of 70k a week (I'd be astonished, but then I suppose you should always expect to be astonished when it comes to footballers' salaries these days) then clearly he'd not be for us - but that's not a reason for us not to ask the question. As for his injury record, he had a period of serious injuries, certainly, but since then he just seems to have slipped down the pecking order.
I'm not saying he's the only player who might fit that bill and your man Yarmolenko is an interesting shout, although players from Russia don't tend to be on peanuts and there's an added gamble factor with someone who has never played in Western Europe, let alone England.

Re: Early summer targets.
Southampton extended his contract in 2015 when City, Liverpool and Spurs were after him. This story says it was 60k but I heard it was 67.5! Either way both way above what we should play for a player like Jay. He is 28 this summer and can't live off potential forever. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... uture.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Agree on the unknown with Yarmolenko. But he has been superb in Europe and for his country. He absolutely ripped Everton apart a couple of seasons ago in The Europa League. While Kiev will pay a decent amount we should be able to match what he earns and give him the window we gave Defour.
Don't tell the locals that Dynamo Kiev is Russian
Edit to add the Jay contract story.

Re: Early summer targets.
Seems a bit pointless as we've got a fantastic replacement in James Tarkowski, plus he'd cost the same amount as Keane I'd reckon.beddie wrote:What about Ben Gibson (if Boro go down) as a replacement for Micheal Keane.
Re: Early summer targets.
Tarky will be fine but I still think we need a dominant blood and guts type centre back if Keans goes and Gibson fits that criteria for me. Dawson (let's not go there) is another at West Brom.
Re: Early summer targets.
Wouldn't mind us looking at the likes of Tom Lawrence or Tom Cairney from the league below. In reality we'll just end up signing more hard working grafters.
Re: Early summer targets.
Tom Lawrence on loan at Ipswich from Leicester a 'Dyche improvable'' player.
Harry Maguire if Hull do go-good replacement for Keane.
Nakhi Wells-if Huddersfield don't go up.
All three would add to squad and not break the bank.

Re: Early summer targets.
Anthony Modeste. Had a stint with Rovers and wasn't great but has been banging them in since, plenty for Cologne this season. Big, strong, quick. (He's 28 though.)
We should definitely be looking in the Bundesliga, definitely. Many of the teams play a similar system to how Dyche likes and there's got to be some bargains.

Unless I've missed a post, I'll say it.
We don't do 'Early'.
More goal threat plus, at least one that can do a Tripps and get a decent cross in for the lads we do have.

Re: Early summer targets.
Once Brady gets into the swing of things his crossing will be every bit as good, if not better, than Trippier's. That's what we spent £13 million on!Buxtonclaret wrote:Unless I've missed a post, I'll say it.

Re: Early summer targets.
Has Dale Stephens signed a contract at Brighton yet? I suspect he'll be on SD's shortlist if we can get him on a free. Perfect replacement for Marney who I fear won't return to the first team again.

There are some good players in Budnesliga. And Modeste crossed my mind. But I have been to a lot of games out there and even their european sides Bayern and Dortmund aside are poor.HelloHiGoodbye wrote:Anthony Modeste. Re: Early summer targets.
Tom Lawrence has had a good season at Ipswich same for Cairney at Fulham.
Robertson at Hull looks a very good player.
Portus Jannson at Leeds has been good at CB by all accounts.

Very good player who has been strong at the back for Boro - they just can't score goals
Re: Early summer targets.
Stephens will sign from Brighton but apart from that the midfield is sorted if the likes of arfield and boyd decide to go they will need replacing what we want is another striker and cover for both full backs
Re: Early summer targets.
I believe we need a CB to replace Keane
A left back as back up to Ward
A striker to link play (ings or jay would be perfect)
A creative attacking midfielder
Heaton
Lowton
Tarkowski
Mee
Ward
JBG
Hendrick
Defour
Brady
NEW
NEW
Could go 451 by replacing attacking mid / 2nd striker with defensive midfielder. Barton would be ideal if not NEW player required.
So 4 possibly 5 new players, all bar understudy LB for the starting X1

Understand your sentiments BUT I think with a more dynamic midfield and wide unit, Vokes would definitely not look so cumbersome and shine at this level. Put him in the Spurs line-up (Gray for that matter) and he would bag 15 a season.BabylonClaret wrote:If Gray leaves we'd need two new up front. I like Sam a lot but sadly he's back up at this level.

Because, In my opinion, he's the week link in the back 4..... continually loses his man and we should be looking to strengthen this position.

I think we will be looking at the relegated teams and who they will want off their payroll is probably the most likely pool we will be fishing in.
Gaston R plus Toure at Boro are players I think could improve the team
Sunderland Defoe but am positive we will not get him, maybe Januzj (spelling!) maybe, 2 years ago I would have been so excited to have him but not sure now
