Cheers, Spades. :)

Is the breeding female the one who chased off the resident one last year, do you know?

Hi Buxton, yes it is as far as I know. I don't think the original female has been since she was driven off

It was the female who attacked the chicks. She was a rogue interloper who drove off the mother. Then, when the father had fed the chicks until they fledged, she attacked the chicks. I understand she has now replaced the original female and the eggs are hers.

Fickle dad!

Interesting goings-on at Bath where one of last years youngsters is bullying the parent birds in order to help with the incubating. Apparently wants to sit on the eggs and makes his intentions known quite aggressively. Unfortunately he is none too gentle with the eggs so there is some concern for their safety.

The ones at Rochdale Town Hall seem to have abandoned their nest after it flooded last week & haven't been seen since.

Anyone still watching the live webcams? How long before they hatch I've been checking it whenever I can for about 3 weeks now all still there.

They usually begin to hatch close to the end of April. I think the first one last year was the 29th. There are only 3 of the 4 eggs left. One was cracked so the adults disposed of it.

The Rochdale peregrines came back to the nest and there are now 4 eggs, I'm looking forward to the nest activity when the young are here

Things are going from bad to worse. A third chick hatched but quickly died. Then, following the death of the third chick, at around 11.27 am the male appears to leave the nest, possibly to chase an intruder. In his haste one of the live chicks was caught in his talon and thrown out of the nest. The female has continued to feed the remaining chick :-(

Sad news in Norfolk.

Just got back in with my dog.
The falcons are still nesting in a working quarry a few hundred yards from me, but as the quarry has been extended, can't see the best anymore.
But the male was up buzzing me as I walked past so, things are likely ok.
It's odd they've heavy machines up and down just below them all day and don't bother.
But walk past in the adjoining field early evening and you usually get one or the other up keeping a noisy eye on you.
