Putting aside Burnley, what sporting event has gripped you most? For me its:

1. Rumble in the Jungle
2. Klammer at Innsbruck 76
3.Tyson v Bruno
4. Hand of God
5. 1970 F.A. Cup final

Absolutely loved the Superbowl this year. Was a magnificent comeback from the Patriots and one of the most memorable (and indeed gripping) sporting events for me.

Nothing comes to close to a nail biting one day cricket match, though not a big 20/20 fan the last World Cup when Windies won with 3 6's at the very death was remarkable .

Cheltenham Gold cup 2011 Denman,Kauto Star and Long run in A line over the 3rd last ( the most noise I've ever heard a crowd generate )

Last summer the women's hockey final in Rio that went to penalties was edge of the seat stuff.

Also, Andy Murray's first Wimbledon victory was a great tennis match to watch.

Amazingly the hockey final was the first thing that came to my mind too. When the Netherlands Girl rounded the keeper and hit the post in the penalty shootout it was tense.

I remember watching Rory McIlroy come bace to win a Major a few years back I think Bobba Watson won the same Major the year before and I was nervous just watching it.

I don't play or watch golf often but it's one of a few sports were you can't control what your opponents do. When you've got two players at their peak it's thrilling to watch.

Also snooker is brilliant when it's tense. Sat in your chair hoping you get one last chance and knowing you have to clear up if you do or it's over. Brilliant.

Three times I've leapt around the living room apart from Clarets related:
* When Harmy took the last wicket and we beat the Aussies at Edgbasten by two runs in the 2005 series.
* The brilliant Ryder Cup comeback a couple of years ago
* And when City took their first title from under United's noses (thanks to Joey) in the final three minutes AGGGUUUUEEEERRROOOO! (feel a bit guilty about that one. I also leapt to my feet in the Miners when Derby scored against Brighton last season to set up our promotion win v QPR).
Sport's gripping many a time, but never more so than on the Turf - think of Ashley's winner against Palace. COME ON!!!

Nick Faldo (my sporting hero) winning his first US Masters (87?). I was up until 1am on a school day. Scott Hoch put to the sword.
Throw most Ryder Cups in there too since 1985 (pure drama!) OH and the 2003 Rugby Union World Cup (watched in an Irish bar in Bangkok PACKED with English and Aussies...great fun.

Yeah, the Milan match watch AMAZING and the best KO I've ever seen in sport? Palace match, though I doubt an opponent has ever been more humiliated in defeat than Paul Groves. I didn't like watching that.

Has to be very close Test matches in cricket normally with low totals where every run counts.

20/20 is fun but not a patch on a game where a batsman has to defend his wicket for his life as well as get runs.

McGuigan vs Pedroza for the world title.
Collectively, super Saturday at the Olympics, but Jess doin the business individually.

I go every year for the big one, this year being my 28th consecutive National. The first one being Little Polvier ridden by Jimmy Frost in 1989. I even went back for the Monday National and Lord Gyllenes triumph after attending the Saturday when it was bombed off. Also i witnessed Esha Ness triumph in the National that never was.

My choices (none Burnley) would be.....

Redrum/Crisp in the 1973 National
Aldaniti winning the National
Neptune Collanges beating Sunnyhill Boy in the narrowest of photo finishes in the 2012 National
Frank Bruno becoming world champion
Murray's 1st Wimbledon win

Ashes test in 2005 at Edgbaston for major sporting events Someone mentioned the ladies hockey in Rio - had a similar experience watching my eldest son in goal in a shootout against New South Wales in the Under 18 National Hockey Championships final last year. He saved 5 out of 6 to win it for WA. Most I've ever jumped up and down / cried / bitten my nails at any sporting occasion.

What about Faldo's fantastic comeback in the final round of the 1996 Masters. Started 6 shots behind and completely destroyed Greg Norman with a best of the day round 67.

To watch Norman - a world class player - crumble under Faldo's skill and steely determination was both cringeworthy and superb at the same time.

One of the great sporting spectacles of all time for me.

Sorry, 3putt...just read this. Yeah, hard to argue with that but I was a mature 23 by that stage so my hero-worshipping of all sporting figures was on the wane.

1. Jack Nicklaus winning 1986 Masters.
2. Clive Lloyd's century in 1975 World Cup.
3. Barry McGuigan beating Pedroza.
