He looks totally diffrent on the BBC link.

Long looked to have done ok in that clip. However we need to note the level and quality of opposition.
Don't think he will be with us next year.

Re: Stanley are on fire.
and yet they were virtually promoted last year, quite a shocking follow up season comparitively.
Far to little, and much to late. Coleman is an ever present, but with ten bob to spend , no chance on doing much more with this lot.
Admirable effort, but apart from a pat on the head, and a condescending "well done boys" nothing much going on there.

Re: Stanley are on fire.
In form and seven points off playoffs with 7 games left. Stranger things have happened.
A club that small, with no money and very little fan base thanks to such a compacted area of clubs, does well to make it in the league let alone stay there each year, is it ten years now?
I hope they do the impossible and go up, it would be a long shot but who knows.

Re: Stanley are on fire.
They were in pole position to go up last season but inexplicably blew it with a 0-0 home draw against Wycombe, who had nothing to play for, on the last day of the season. After play-off failure they lost several key players and the summer saw another rebuilding job on a shoestring budget. Understandably took time to settle this season but they are on a great run at the moment.
Reaching the play-offs looks like a stretch but they, along with Blackpool, are the form sides amongst the chasing pack. If they do make it into the top seven they'll certainly have momentum this time - last season they had the disappointment of missing automatic.
Would be good for us if they were in League One and we could get some of our young players there on loan.

Who cares about Accy Stanley, I hope they follow b*stard* into liquidation and both rot together then we'll steal the rest of the Glory seeking people of Accrington.

Re: Stanley are on fire.
Would be good to see Accy do well. Thunk we should look to build links with these clubs much like City and United too.
Get some of our young players game time and exposure. If it works everyone's a winner. If it doesn't, nothing ventured nothing gained for us or the player.
ONeill has been flying at Oldham.

^^^ Fully agree ^^^
If they are good enough to earn full time contracts with them if we release them, no reason we can't let the pick our best youngsters.
Can still train with us a couple if times a week and with Accy too. Stay local to our club which is good to keep tan eye on them and for treatment if needed.
Keeps them in familiar surroundings.
I wouldn't be adverse to them taking the likes of Massanka, Whitmore and a few more of the younger lads who seem to be doing well for the development squad.
Colman does seem to have the ability of polishing rough diamonds and getting everylast ounce out of players.

Nice alternative to visit the crown ground when clarets not playing plus they now have pukka pies, bloke next to me had two on the go.
Re: Stanley are on fire.
They are dping a lot better then there feeder club in blue and white halves.
Re: Stanley are on fire.
Not inexplicable. They dominated the game and hit the post three times - it was just one of those days. No club is so good as to be able to win every game even when the luck is against you.EarbyClaret wrote:They were in pole position to go up last season but inexplicably blew it with a 0-0 home draw against Wycombe, who had nothing to play for, on the last day of the season.

Re: Stanley are on fire.
Well done to the Stanley - 6 neutrals will be at argyle on Saturday our annual (last 3 seasons anyway to see the same game) dinner time drinks session nearby, all ex forces from Lancashire and sit in the away end. 3 burnley, 1 Bolton, 1 Chelsea, 1 other, and a possible 4th burnley. Hoping Accy can continue their good football and form. UTC

Re: Stanley are on fire.
All sounds great but surely Accy would have to agree to have a bunch of youngsters threw at them on loan deals. You mention Massanka yet he's currently playing in the league below Accy and couldnt get a game with a relegated L2 side last year. 98% of our youngsters wouldnt get a game for a promotion chasing team in L2, the other 2% that would like Long/Agyei/O'Neill wouldn't agree to play in L2. So what benefit would Accy get out of this?MACCA wrote:^^^ Fully agree ^^^

I see all the Accrington based "Burnley" fans start crawling out of woodwork after Stanley win a few games it's almost like they feel guilty for not supporting their local team (Accy)

I'm sure more than 2% of our development squad would get in the Accy match day squad. Fletcher and McCartan got snapped up soon as they were released so they must have had something about them.KRBFC wrote:All sounds great but surely Accy would have to agree to have a bunch of youngsters threw at them on loan deals. We are in a far stronger position now, which inturn should create a stronger youth sey up for us.
I'm sure if we made Accy aware that they can have the pick of the bunch in terms of our youth/developmentsquad subject to us and the player accepting, then they would take a stronger interest and use it.
No reason
Thomas
Hendry
Smith
Chakwana
Dunne
Flowers
Limb
Birch
Green
Massanka
Whatmore
And I've probably missed some, can't be pushing for league football next season, they all seem to be getting decent reviews this season.
But you're probably right, none of them will be good enough for Accy and will not make it into league football.

Re: Stanley are on fire.
I wasnt suggesting we force them on them. Just forge links and give them priority.
Re: Stanley are on fire.
I never said non of them will never be good enough for league football, I don't know enough to say that. Massanka is playing non league football because he couldn't get a game for a relegated league two side so why would he suddenly get a game for a promotion chasing L2 side? Renny Smith left to a Serie B team then instantly got loaned out by them. Whatmore plays for Sunderland?MACCA wrote:I'm sure more than 2% of our development squad would get in the Accy match day squad. I saw a line-up for Stanley the other day with SM playing behind a lone striker. He played as a striker for the YT, didn't he?

Hi KRBFC were not coming out of the woodwork, we all come from Lancashire - close to Burnley left home at 16/17yrs old served in the forces for 22yrs and more and no reside in Plymouth. Its our opportunity to meet up annually when Accy are down have a few beers and support Accy for the day when they are in Plymouth- who by the way hate us clarets so any opportunity to get one over them at work on a Monday is gratefully received - surely you can see sense in this ??? Their manager is spot on for them. He failed when he tried his hand at Rochdale but he seems to get the club and gets the players working for him. Sound familiar ?

Re: Stanley are on fire.
We might get a preview with the big Good Friday clash coming up, Blackpool v Accy Stanley. Could be huge!wilks_bfc wrote:Will be interested to see how Lancashire Constabulary deal with this potential "bubble match"
I understand with the Blackpool v Fleetwood matches last year, supporters all had to travel by special tram, with the oldest and rattliest trams being brought from all round the country for that purpose, and PC Plod tried to ensure they all went the long way round via Bamber Bridge until the tram company pointed out certain logistical difficulties.
