Rep Of Ireland v Wales

Post by Dazzler » Fri Mar 24, 2017 3:08 pm

For those without Sky Sports this match is live on the welsh S4C channel.
Most probably commentary will be in yaki da though.

Might be two or three Clarets playing. Ward, Hendrick, Vokes, if picked.
Think Brady is suspended.

Brady is suspended. Ward and Hendrick should be nailed on starters. Not sure if Vokes is first choice at the mo, but I'd expect him to be on the pitch at some point.

S4C normally has an English language option.

Vokes on bench Hendrick and Wardy start. Latter giving Keane a run for our player of the season imo.

Last time 2 Burnley players started in the same international team?

Guessing it would have been Flynn and James some time in the 70's...

Ward took the ball off Bale. Hendrick just over hit a through ball, only just though.

Off top of my head I would say Hamilton and Cassidy for Northern Ireland in the 82 world cup finals.???

Haven't Ward and Hendrick started any other Ireland games together this season?

Hamilton and Cassidy did a fans Q&A in the Centre Spot after that World Cup.

We did have Jimmy Mac, Alex Elder and Willie Irvine in a Norn Iron side in the 60s but Jimmy might have been a Stoke player at the time.

That should have been red for Bale. Out of control, leading with the studs, nowhere near the ball and strikes the player.
Now Taylor is sent off.

Bale very lucky to still be on after that challenge. Taylor one looked wild yet to show replay so must be bad injury for Coleman.

Keane told Ireland to rough wales up. And they did. Wales have responded to that.

Bales was never a red. Taylor probably so

Watching on Sky go and no replay of the red card foul at all. Was it edited out? Any replays on the TV coverage?

Bale should be on a yellow as soon as he walks on the pitch for that top-knot.

Terrible game of football. To say how much stick we give England we are miles above these two.

Should of been 3 red cards in the game.

Two poor teams incapable of producing a winning goal in a big match leads to frustration which leads to tempers boiling over which leads to serious injury. A bit predictable really.

Keane fired the irish up before the game and told them to rough wales and especially bale up. They did first half. Wales retaliated. Incidentally dont think that Taylors was malicious more unfortunate. But wales had started to rough them back.

Then you hear Dean Saunders defending and trying to justify both tackles.

Says Bale's was an 'accident' and he was just trying to score......No, he wasn't, the ball had gone beyond him and Bale raised his foot and followed through.......Red card Saunders.

Then defends Taylor saying 'he's not that sort of lad'.......No, it was another poor tackle that could easily end the career of a fellow professional.

Why can't these pundits just tell it like it is!

There was absolutely no need to dive in with the scissor motion he used and at that height.

Disgusting challenge. It was also Taylor that somehow escaped without a card with a karate kick on Kyle Walker's face earlier this season.

Just to add some balance......you wonder just how much the Welsh were reacting to the 'challenge' in the first half by Whelan on Allen (his own Stoke City teammate!). That was a deliberate elbow in the throat and another clear red card, probably carrying out the instructions of the thug Roy Keane.

Agree. And exactly what caused all the atmosphere. Whelans was an intentional elbow. Ireland played very physical.

Think Taylors was probablay a red on first view but not seen it again. Dodnt look like he went for the man to me but a poor mistimed tackle.

Im not keane hater. But when hes publically said we need to 'let bale know we are there' you can only imagine what he said in the dressing room. Irelands game was primarily to physically stop Bale and more so the supply to him.

Ramsey took an elbow to the throat. Allen one to the face.

Its no wonder Bale may have been overexubberant when pre match the instructions have been to foul him. I dont think Bales was a foul though.
