Re: Keane
Never going to give it to a CB against that level of opposition unless he scores. His positioning, decision making and use of the ball were all very good. No errors in what was a convincing performance. His shirt now.

Now we need to be upping his wages and getting the new contract with us signed .We have £100m coming and we want to keep out stars not look at selling them .

Exactly the same figure that I would value him at and his valuation will surely go even higher the more he plays for England..
Don't want to lose him of course but I'm expecting him to leave us at the end of the season and yes a bidding war between a a few of the top clubs could well happen.

Re: Keane
I'm a super optimistic as the next fan, but let's keep things realistic. Keane is going in the summer, and it's been expected for a good number of months now. Last summer £15m would have got him I reckon. This summer, despite the contract, I think nearer double that.Woodleyclaret wrote:Now we need to be upping his wages and getting the new contract with us signed .We have £100m coming and we want to keep out stars not look at selling them .

Re: Keane
He played left side today, Stones right; played right side v Germany. Mr versatile.
It seemed today that he was the one entrusted to pass forwards when the back 2/3 had finished manoeuvring the ball amongst themselves . His distribution was v good too.
Not tested a lot defensively but did what was need nicely.
Definitively enhanced his reputation and value.

I keep hearing the expected fee is 20-25 million. Why then was Stones sold for double that ?
Twice the player ?

They reckon that £15 m was the price quoted to Leicester. Didn't Ranieri want him but the KP boys wouldn't cough up ? Our gain.

Stones' contract at Everton was probably longer.John Johnson 1605 wrote:I keep hearing the expected fee is 20-25 million. Why then was Stones sold for double that ?

More PL experience too.
As for twice the player how good would Keane look playing for City where Stones has had minimal protection from his midfield, no fixed CB partner and flappy mcflappyson in goal behind him?
Keane has played alongside the same defenders for nearly 2 seasons, in front of the same GK and behind a pretty solid midfield.
Keane is looking good, like Stones did at Everton where things were more stable.
If Keane had 2-3 years left on his contract we probably could command £40 million ish.

If we can't get more than £20 million we may as well not sell, he'd be worth that to us for another PL season (if we stay up, of course).

What we need is Shenzen Toomuchcash to put a bid in of 80million ! (assuming the inevitable happens and he wants to go at some stage)7decades wrote:If Hoddle was a Premier club manager we would get £200m for Keane, he loves him...................

I don't know, I always thought stones looked like an accident waiting to happen at Everton as well.

Re: Keane
After 15 minutes I thought of the cartoon eyes with the dollars spinning round.
His valuation and standing in the game must of gone up significantly.
Felt proud as punch watching a current Burnley player strolling around the international football pitch like he'd been there for years. Well done keano and well done the Burnley coaching staff for helping him along the way.

yep, he's progressed massively under Dyche, you can see by the quality of his distribution we are wasting some of his talents though

His passing was great today, every pass in front of the receiving player not one had to check a run.

The time will come when we don't have to fear losing the likes of Keane to a bigger club.
Until that time comes I'm proud to say that he was made in Burnley.
Good luck Michael with wherever your career takes you

His two 40 yard passes to the right wing were quite something. You wouldn't see Smalling doing that.

Re: Keane
His passing is exemplary. Tonight showed that more than most games perhaps - he had so many options off the ball with no pressure and picked out a sumptuous pass almost every time. He's lightning fast, tall, strong... Shame he's not got three years left on a contract because it'd be close if not more than what City paid for Stones. As it is - it'll be about twenty million and that'll be a snip for whoever buys him.
The lad's going to be in the England team for the next decade and can win it all at club level. He's that good.

Re: Keane
Why? Have we instructed him not to pass the ball??? I'm SURE I have seen him pass it. He's a centre half, and we play him in that position.Vegas Claret wrote:yep, he's progressed massively under Dyche, you can see by the quality of his distribution we are wasting some of his talents though
Sorry for the sarcasm, but could you explain why you mean about us wasting some of his talents?
