Cheating, diving. There's too much of it. Sometimes players go down for a free-kick or a penalty, I don't mind that. It's a part of the game and we can't change it. It's called game management."

Clearly you haven't suffered from the injury known as bruised ego. Can rule players out for weeks

Q...Brian, why did you drop so many crosses?
A...Because i was a butter-fingered buffoon who was nowhere near as good as many thought.
In fact, i thought Lee Grant was much better than me.

Even in his one pretty good season with us (and he made some great saves) he made some absolute clangers.

Not aware of any website editors having managed Jensen to be honest - Stan used to regularly criticise him and Jensen has been very critical of Cotterill and Laws previously.TheFamilyCat wrote:Or maybe a website editor.

Could have been a better keeper than he was, particularly should have dominated his box more, but then was never as bad as some would have.

Very good keeper for us. Anyone who plays 300 games over ten years for a club has something about them.

Is it not the case that Brian was the best keeper we could hope for at the time.
He was a great servant for our team at a time when it was more thin than thick.

You are entitled to that opinion.ClaretTony wrote:That may be your opinion but it was certainly not mine
And me mine. And the 6 managers he played for. And the siginificant number of keepers he saw off including several internationals over 300 Burnley games.
A bad keeper doesnt make 300 games for one club. In fact a bad one doesnt make 30.
Without Jensen we wouldnt have got promoted to the premier league and had we not done that who knows where we would be now.
And if anyone says we could have done better. Well apparently we tried with the likes of Kiraly, Coyne and co
People say he only had one good season. Well if thats true it was a bloody important one. But it isnt true.

Re: Brian Jensen Q + A
Seemingly never the best 'Keeper at the Club in all the time he was here, yet continually got the nod in front of 'superior' teammates.
300+ appearances, lots of key performances(good and bad), a Wembley win and promotion under his belt and a year in the Prem.
lots of Players would swap their career for Brian Jensen's in a heartbeat.
He also provided me with one of my favourite terrace moments of all time when, after a poor first half for him at the KC Stadium, an irate website editor came rushing down wet concrete steps to remonstrate quite loudly and vociferously about his pet hate to members of the group I was standing with, and very nearly fell right on his arse. The look on his face was a bloody picture. If ever I'm feeling down, I think of that moment and smile.

his performance at home to reading in 2008/9 season was remarkable (save after save, block after block) and enable us to get 3 points we never looked like....with the battering their forwards gave us!

Made me proud at Chelsea that night in the cup, he did a job for us but stepping up a level showed his faults
Could not fault his commitment in our promotion season did what was needed everyone's favorite player to extent
You can get away with mistakes in the championship stepping up a level for Brian was a bridge to far
He gave us a good showing for a season and a bit and of that he held his own when it mattered at a critical time for the club because it was $hit or bust time
good shot stopper was the big guy but possessed butter fingers but respect the man UTC

One of the best keeper displays ive seen. Reading were some attacking force. 70 odd goals they scored that season. Yet in the play offs we kept two hard earned clean sheets.claretblue wrote:his performance at home to reading in 2008/9 season was remarkable (save after save, block after block) and enable us to get 3 points we never looked like....with the battering their forwards gave us!
Then in the final. You only have to look at the seasons sheffield utd have had since against ours to see how important that was. Hard to believe how they have fared.

Poor Sheff Utd. Missed out on Automatic Peomotion, then pipped in the Play-Offs, and all along they were managed by the balloon-headed, Warnock-wannabe Kevin Blackwell.cricketfieldclarets wrote: Then in the final. It all went pear-shaped the next season, they were relegated the season after that and it's taken all this time to get back on an even keel.
They'll be back in the Championship next term, but I suspect they'll find it hard going. Lots of teams are now light years in front of them financially.

Re: Brian Jensen Q + A
His distribution was probably the worst I've seen from a Burnley goalkeeper, first few seasons it felt like he kicked it out of play every single time. But he was key in getting us promoted.
Re: Brian Jensen Q + A
Jensen was always a bit dodgy, but most keepers are at the level we were at. He had some awful games and some amazing games. When all is said and done he was a key player in our promotion season and those who cannot see that are blinded by their hatred for the 'Breast' shouts and love of jogging bottoms
