Over 40 Dutch Clarets in town for Spurs game
Over 40 Dutch clarets have made the journey over for the Spurs game. All the lads are from Helmond near Eindhoven.
Good bunch of lads, they come over for a few games a season.Recently another group came over for the Liverpool and Man Utd games away.
They had strong ties to Burnley due a claret from Burnley wood who settled in the town. The late Darran Woller well known in that area of town a passionate claret who passed his passion on to the locals of Helmond.
I have personally known the Dutch lads for a long time now, all different ages and all top blokes.
If you see them around town tomorrow i'm sure you will give them the usual warm Burnley greeting lol. UTC

Nice to see for the town more than anything. Attracting people from outside the town to boost the local economy is great, as I'm sure they will enjoy a good slurp.
Re: Over 40 Dutch Clarets in town for Spurs game
Get them all in the cricket club for a few pre match scoops...they'll be made most welcome

Try speaking to them with these words. They'll be very grateful and will be most appreciative.

Re: Over 40 Dutch Clarets in town for Spurs game
In reply to how do they get tickets..not all of them travelled over around 15 did. And some sat in the home ends. These lads have been watching Burnley for years. In some cases since late 80's/ early 90's.
In reply to 40 Burnley fan's in one town.
This is just one group there's another 30 or so maybe more who haven't travelled as it was too soon after the Liverpool game.

Re: Over 40 Dutch Clarets in town for Spurs game
I was told when I was out there that there was a Burnley fan in Helmond. It must have been this chap then.
I only ever went to Helmond once though for a few jars.
The first English chap I met on my first day at work was a chap from up Brunshaw Road. I said that's a familiar accent, I couldn't believe it.

A few translations below you might want to use to make our European friends welcome:

"waarom is Defour niet starten"

He seems to have been a charismatic character Darran Waller. If was him I might have been tempted to start a sex cult instead.

Are you talking to yourself again, saxo ?
More importantly, on the theme of visitors to the Turf, nice to see about thirty Japanese lads, members of their football club, in the JHL - another group from Padua, Italy, too.

The Japanese lads were playing down at Gawthorpe in the morning , playing on the pitch next to the youth game . The team they were playing were in BFC kit, but seemed a mix of u 16s and older lads ( maybe the " shadow" youth squad connected to the college )

Re: Over 40 Dutch Clarets in town for Spurs game
On my first venture into Paddy's Irish pub in Eindhoven I saw on the bog door carved into the wood...... BRFC and underneath Burnley Ba**ards.
I wasn't having that and did a great sanding job using my door key.
