Re: All Round To Mrs Browns
It seems that every week there's a new thread with someone else whining about this program
Plenty of us like it, but there's also plenty of programs we don't like, yet we don't bother posting about it on here.
Do you take a number and join the queue or do you pick names from a hat to decide who's turn it is to have the weekly whine?

Sidney, you surprise me. I would guess you loved him that said "chase me" and canon and ball as well . ITV mainstream entertainment .

Re: All Round To Mrs Browns
I vaguely remember Cannon and Ball being on TV, but when they were on TV in the 90's I was busy discovering alcohol as a teenager, along with over activities, so I didn't really watch them on TV and didn't find them that good when I did see them.
As for the chase me reference that's gone right over my head.

Sidney, it's me who posts these continual threads about this vile, satanic bilge.
And i shall continue in similar vein until i rid the world, nay, the entire universe of
this accursed stain on humanity. Simply ignoring it won't make it go away.
We need a fanatical crusade.
If that's alright with you, of course.

Women arent funny. Men dressing as women are even less funny. Except league of gentlemen. But thats the exception not the rule.

radio 4x, plays a lot of old comedies. Hancock is shockingly bad and unfunny, as is dads army. There was one on last week with wendy craig, Not in front of the children...a middle class pile of turgid dog ****. BBC again, they decided the stuff that you all wanted to look at.Les Dawson is another, christ, how dull can it get.

What exactly do you like comedy wise Wile E Coyote?
In fact tell us about anything that you do like because you're great at telling us about everything that you don't like.

certainly not python, university based dirge, always destined to get mainstream due to oxbridge and BBC top jobs. they were ready to force feed this nonsense down our throats, like rugby union.

I'm actually curious as to why on some days you don't like anything, and everything is an angry bile spewed laughable AAAARRRRGGHH! with you.
Then on other days you like everything and everything is wonderful and full of daisies and little bunny rabbits.
You're a strange boy.
You will not tell us what you do like, comedy wise or anything else.

While I appreciate Saxo is a suicidal depressed friendless alcoholic, one can only guess at his comedy likes when he dismisses python and Coogan
While Coogan can be hit and miss he's certainly the only thing we have that could conceivably (by some) be called the nearest we have to a comic genius.

I don't complain about Mrs Brown - I've found it much better, and easier, to either switch to another channel or switch off the TV.

Re: All Round To Mrs Browns
As you said, it's opinion. There's reference to Morecambe & Wise above and someone not thinking them funny. I thought they were fantastic. Clearly Mrs Brown is very popular with some given the awards the programme wins.

There's a guy who comes to my place of work.
He farts as loud as he can and then says "good arse" I'm quite sure he got a little more than he bargained for on more than one occasion due to the surprised look on his face and his subsequent sharp exit.
He loves Mrs Brown's boys.

Re: All Round To Mrs Browns
The old stuff isn't funny now, for most that weren't around at the time, comedy and what people find funny, changes. Mrs Brown's boys is like going back to a bygone era for comedy and that's probably why, from my experience, it's older people that like it. I personally can't stand it.
As for suggesting Coogan isn't funny - Partridge is genius but my missus just rolls her eyes and thinks it's terrible.

Python I like. Coogan is a *alleged* narcotics taking CNT and about as funny as a cocaine induced cardiac arrest.lakesclaret wrote:While I appreciate Saxo is a suicidal depressed friendless alcoholic, one can only guess at his comedy likes when he dismisses python and Coogan

Partridge has yet to age. Still find it as funny today as it was back in the day. Tried watching The Young Ones again, thought it was awful but at the time it was the funniest thing everDCWat wrote:The old stuff isn't funny now, for most that weren't around at the time, comedy and what people find funny, changes. Brendan Carroll has already made millions out of Mrs Browns Boys.
I'm quite sure he doesn't give a shite about u lot.
By the way have Ye heard of the new gadget out now.
It's called a tv remote control.
Apparently it changes the channel on the tv.

I've flicked through the thread and all I've taken from it, is that some people are sulking because others don't like the exact same things that they like. Does that sum it up?

Is it really popular or just the fact there's naff all else on to watch....... or maybe a case of the licence payer thinking they have to watch it because they're paying for this guff
