Went from 2 metres from him. Never seen legs buckle like that since I last saw Chris Eagles play

Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
Talk sport commentators initially thought off, then after replay doubts crept in as Keane slipped.
If we've got away with one, all well and good.

Must admit, had it been up the other end I'd have been screaming red.
Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
Strictly speaking, it should have been a red, although he was unfortunate with the slip.
Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
We play by rules. ( meant too )
If rules are followed, it's a red.

Sky thought yellow was right because of Keane slipping.
Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
Don't think it really matters that he slipped - it should have been a red.

Shouldn't matter whether it's deliberate or not should it? Red card for me. Having said that I don't think it would have altered the result. Boro are whack.

Keane did Bamford a favour. He would have fluffed it and cried himself to sleep.

Think the rule is purposeful denial of a goalscoring opportunity - Keane slipped so wasn't on purpose
If it was at the other end I would have been screaming for a red card though !

You're right. See link, yellow card was correct decision.
Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
The rules have changed this season haven't they? There has to be no attempt to play the ball, or is that just for could in the box that lead to penalties?
Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
Was yellow. The ref said so

Read the Sunday papers you will see it's a yellow despite the home crowds yelling. A brave decision by the ref.

He should have walked, great first touch from Bamford created the opportunity, slip or no slip, foul. Off.

You're probably being obtuse, but if it's not deliberate it's not a red card.Diesel wrote:He should have walked, great first touch from Bamford created the opportunity, slip or no slip, foul. Off.

Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
couldn't see clearly from our end, although if he slipped it would be very harsh to red card him. He had another poor game all round today, by his standards. He's not been the same since he came back from England. Here's hoping he sorts it out soon.
Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
And I'll raise you: Keane Was the last man (between the attacker and goalkeeper)Rileybobs wrote:You're probably being obtuse, but if it's not deliberate it's not a red card.
Bamfords instant control, was inductive to Keane slipping.
FFS it was a blatant foul on someone who was clean through, Red card all day long.

Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
The right decision. Keane slipped and there was no intention of even making a challenge at that point.
Good job we had a too referee today, a lesser one would have got it wrong.

If Keane hadn't slipped would have probably tackled Bamford as easily as he did in the area in almost similar circumstances a few minutes later

If Bamford was playing up front and had instant control we should sign him.

Didn't see the slip, so my immediate reaction was a red. Looks now the ref got it right, but if an we're a Boro fan I be a bit issed off.
Just seen it, definite slip.

Slip from Keane. Bamford not clear at the point of contact. Yellow fair.

If it's not deliberate it's not a red card offence. It's in the rules. It was a slip and unintentional foul, hence yellow card.

Flip it to Gray v Gibson and i'm pretty sure the majority of people on here would see it very differently

Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
Bamford certainly got on his bike in the five or ten minutes that he was on. Maybe trying to prove a point. He looked a lot better than he did coming on for five or ten minutes for Burnley, that's for sure.

JFW man. It doesn't matter how people would see it. The rules state that if a player commits an accidental foul that deny a goalscoring chance they will be cautioned. You don't always have to be the contrarian.Devils_Advocate wrote:Flip it to Gray v Gibson and i'm pretty sure the majority of people on here would see it very differently

Think the ref did really well to spot the slip and only give a yellow. My initial reaction was red but looking at replays the ref was spot on.

The rules for England internationals are different, and Keane gets the decisions that others wouldn't, in preparation for next season when he's made his £30m move to Chelsea.
I can cope with a few more games of unbiased leniency to the best English centre-half England has. ☺

Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
True but I like to bring a bit of balance and context to the board cos next week it might happen to Gray and most on here wont care it was accidental theyll just be frothing at the mouth hammering the ref for costing us the match
We have a go at refs for consistency but the day both sets of fans and managers have a consistent view then i'll hammer the ref

Only seen it once, live at the ground so a distance away, but red card all day long on that viewing. (Then yellow for Bamford for crying!)
Re: Keane on Bamford....Red?
I've just spoken to Michael Keane at a sportsmans dinner, he said he pretended to slip to avoid a red card.
He said that if he was the ref. he would have sent himself off.
I've won then..

Not a red for me.
Bamford didn't have the ball under full control so wasn't a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Rules state - that if its a clear goal scoring opportunity, then its a red card... though it was Patrick Bamford through on goal, so a yellow is fair punishment.
