horse racing bits n bobs

Post by happyclaret17 » Tue Apr 11, 2017 9:21 am

Keep your eye on CORINTHIA kNIGHT in the 3-00 today.
sired by first season sire SOCIETY ROCK.
this sire had 2 turf runners yesterday...one won really well from a bad draw at windsor.
the other ran a very creditable 3rd from an equally bad draw at redcar....despite being trained by
Karl Burke who doesnt have his 2 year olds firing usually on 1st run....also his horse was one of the
youngest in the line up.
Todays horse is from a yard who has only had a couple of 2yo runners in the past so stakes can only be low...
but this one is the oldest in the line up by at least 2 months.....the fav in the race however has had a run which could be a big benefit.
current price is around 7/1...probably better looking at market nearer the off....both of the ones yesterday really
got on with the job...very little greenness so I think the time to catch these is 1st couple of runs over 5 furlongs.
SOCIETY ROCKS sire was ROCK OF GIBRALTAR...a group 1 winning 6f horse so speed looks their strong point.
whatever happens today...keep tabs on this sires runners in the next month or 2....utc.

Rock Of Gibraltar, the horse that began the end of the dominance by Man Utd. Funny how sport works.

Lot of interest in Brian Ryan in that race was available at 28s last night now into 5/1 - 9/2

brian Ryan was bought as a foal for 15000 Guineas, but sold for only ( I suspect bought back by the pinhooker) for 3200 guineas as a yearling.

Unless he had a cold at the yearling sales he must have grown up a lot since

Brian Ryan is really interesting by first season sire FINJAAN....I had a few tickles on finjaan when trained by tregonning...a really precocious 2yo...trainer only ever run 4 2 year olds so difficult to assess...
btw a very profitable angle with 2 year olds is laying once raced favourites in maidens....worth keeping an eye on.

thanks all....for those that didnt see the race...he jumped well from stalls with those drawn lower....sat 3rd...then 2nd horse ran wide...the experienced fav kicked on a couple of lengths but Corinthian Knight got a crack from jockey and he went on to go around 4 lengths clear to give the trainer his first 2yo winner.
So once again a really sharp sort from this sire...none entered tomorrow...will post them on here when they run...utc.

nice 1 JohnMac
just checking out a 20/1 shot for tomorrow...will post it later or in the morning under wednesdays racing.
but one I am backing is in the 8 15 kemp...FIRE DIAMOND..around 5/1...still nicely handicapped and this track should suit
as he is normally held up so has lots of time to organise himself on the long home straight....has had genuine reasons lately
for being beaten...including a bad draw or 2 and not staying a mile....this 7f is his best trip.
