Been through there more times than I've had hot dinners.

I don't particular like burgers but they all tried getting me to Burger King (first port off the plane) when we landed.

I can't remember what the pretend Irish pub was called but I know that you needed to take out a second mortgage just to eat and drink in there.

You started it.

Probably a stupid question, but have you ever been to Brazil?

Used to go through it regular aswell.

The Irish pub is murphys. Wasn't in it very often as had full access to the crown lounge.

Cracking place to spot a bit of Jack and Danny

I often use my local airport. Usually arriving around 15 minutes before my flight i lean my bike on a nearby fence, ticking my name off at the check in uses up another 20 seconds or so...2 minutes for the pre flight briefing then up the steps into the plane...its a great experience compared to the bloody horrible crowded guff we now have to endure at most airports....mind you if airport quality was a major factor in holiday planning i think i'd review some of my destinations...theyre just a neccessary evil surely?

Sorry fatboy. Post was an attempt at humour after binontturf bizarrely hijacked (no pun intended) my thread asking for directions for someone to bergamo airport.

The above sounds perfect though. I bloody hate schipol.

I was there in 2007. While browsing the shops I saw a leather jacket in Hugo Boss reduced from 750 euro to 100 euro. I had 90 euros on me so tried to bargain for it but no dice.

I had to transfer there once. I didn't know it was possible for two planes to be so far apart and still be in the same country, let alone same airport.

Very good airport - flew in / train out very quick and easy. Munich airport is also pretty impressive. Don't get me started on the Spanish airports.... hot / noisy / overpriced / filthy toilets / nowhere to sit / nearly always delayed.....

I have been there a few times. The only thing different to any other International airport I recalled, was the long taxi from landing to the terminal, it took ages.

Other than the above nowt special

My favourite. One Terminal and you can walk from any gate to any other within 10 minutes with little chance of getting lost so a one hour transfer
slot is a doddle.

Worst experience probably Atlanta.

Schiphol was my home airport for 9 years from 2004 to 2013. It's changed a lot over the years and it is admittedly expensive but I do think it is one of the better ones in Europe, it is clean shiny and it has a huge range of things to do. It is also fairly intuitive where the gates are and how to get there (although the 'H' gates could do with a lift - tough memories of carrying prams up and down those stairs). Big plus is that it is all one 'building' and you don't need a transit to get between terminals. Hate the 'Polderbaan' though.

It'll be my home airport again in July :D

Only time I've ever missed a connecting flight transfer. Seemed to walk for miles and then got held up with security before arriving at gate to see the plane making its way to the run way.

There tomorrow, coming home from four cracking says in Leiden, amongst the tulips. Major work going on at Schiphol at present. We had to land on a nearby airfield on Tuesday. Major surgery to part of one of the terminals. Superb airport though.

Schipol means "Ship Hell"

It sits on land reclaimed from the sea. When they drained the water away they found loads of sunken ships and boats
