This season, winning is good but challenging and actually competing at the highest level is better.

I never dreamed of us spending the sort of sums that we have on players, we are on the verge of securing a second season in the big league and we've again beaten some of the 'big boys'.
Winning the championship was great but seeing the progress on and off the field this years pips it for me.

I don't even have to think about it.
23, 23 I say.

In the Championship you can't see world class players, week in, week out.

This season.
We really were big favourites to drop.
The way we've dug in and, given the Big Boys a game, has been exceptional.
Ok, as highlighted by many, it's not always been pretty.
But we are what we are.
Staying up, the way football is at the top table these days will be a hell of an achievement.

Tough one. What I have felt this year is more anxious in games.

Both were good. And winning the title was great. But probably say this one.
The liverpool game was amazing.
Plus bastards are going down this too

Re: This season or last?
Last season was better than 2014/15, more enjoyable to win than be relegated.
Winning last season is only achieving entry to this season. Of course this season is better. Competing with the top clubs in the top league is great.
And, I'm looking forward to next season being even better than this one.

Re: This season or last?
To win the Championship last season was exceptional. The night match at Preston will live forever as one of my most memorable games I've witnessed in all the years I've watch this great club. More so because my son had traveled half way around the world to be there as well. Saying all that I have really enjoyed this season. If someone had said we'll have 33 home points after 32 games (15 at home) we'd have been looking for the straight jacket. If and its still an 'if' we retain PL status it will to my mind be SD's greatest achievement for us.

Re: This season or last?
I think naturally you will always feel more euphoria when you are top of the league and you are smashing the season compared to trying to survive and going away to achieve a draw is a result.
This year has been great to see improvement in the squad and the fact that we are in a position where we have been able to improve training ground and look like we can continue to gradually improve the club all round.
I have been particularly pleased with us showing that we are getting our youngsters out and about and also seeing some of them getting experience of being around the 1st team. This season really is giving us a great platform to work from.

Re: This season or last?
This year, by a mile. We sort of expected to win most games last year and weren't playing that good a football on the eye. Winning the league was superb though.
But every goal and win this year is unexpected, the Everton winner just went off the scale.

Re: This season or last?
Without a doubt it is this season for me. Last season just built up and up into something special but to compete with the biggest clubs in the country, and we really have competed, is even more special. I would never have believed it if someone had told me last August that we'd be on 36 points with six to play.

1991 92 is still my favourite though. And will take some beating for me. Until we win a top trophy I dont think any will.

Re: This season or last?
The Championship is a far more exciting league, and there is nothing to beat a promotion battle for excitement, obviously this season is from the clubs perspective even more important but scoring goals, taking teams on and winning matches is what makes football really exciting.
There is pleasure in seeing your side defy the odds but from a footballing perspective it's hard work to watch.

Re: This season or last?
I've said many times over the last 8 years, watching football in the Championship is far more enjoyable than the prem. Still too many breaks, always some point in the season where we have no home game for a bloody month.
BUT if we stay up I wouldn't swap this season for last. Your in a sport to compete with the best, and to see the Clarets not only competing but surviving, is special...... I can't find the right words, but you know what I mean. Staying up is the culmination of a very, very long, hard road. We can finally say we made it.

Re: This season or last?
This one. Just. Last year was all about giving us a chance to have this year. Away form aside, we have exceeded all my expectations, so far.
It'd be nice for us to get a win tomorrow. It'd be just mental if we did. I could dream about an Easter Weekend that sees us secure our status and R*vers get relegated.

About equal. Achievement wise both have been as good as anything in my lifetime but as a spectacle both seasons have been pretty awful and dire and just a more successful version of Cotterball
Not sure where the line is but at some point id rather have less success with a manager who's gonna get us playing some entertaining football

This. Undoubtedly this. The 23 was magnificent, but it was all to attain this. Not so many wins, not so many awesome displays, but the highs have been spectacular.
Re: This season or last?
The big difference for us is the support we get in the Pl. 19000 clarets to watch Joey's winner against Southampton. The championship simply can't compete certainly as far as the home games are concerned. Away from home is different but who would seriously swop Anfield and Old Trafford for Deadwood and Dumpdale?

This
Last season was all about this
If we can stay up and start to compete even more then this will be even better.
UTC
Plus, the championship has been great because of 3 promotions and 3 others seasons of being on the cusp of the play offs and with parachute payments
If we were in there just trying to avoid relegation every year and clinging on to mid table dourness as avhievement then it would be dour and depressing.
Careful what you wish for.

Last by a country mile.
Watched the season review yesterday. We destroyed some teams and there were some great games.

This. Being a credible player in the big pond rather than the big fish in the small pond more enjoyable, for me. As others have said- watching the investment in our infrastructure and additional cash being invested to strengthen the club in the long term is also a beautiful thing.

Re: This season or last?
As far as atmosphere goes, deadwood and dumpdale every time. Anfield and OT were stale and lifeless. Truly grounds full of tourists, and all the poorer for it. Having said that, they are clearly superior grounds in themselves, and the new stand at anfield is quite spectacular. I couldn't stop looking at it, and the whole match day experience was great, except for the lack of atmosphere.claretbob wrote:The big difference for us is the support we get in the Pl. 19000 clarets to watch Joey's winner against Southampton. Put the atmosphere from our two local rivals (when we are there) into those grounds, and you have a proper match day.

I reckon last season; we were winning regularly and chasing a dream. This season has been a grind with precious few high points. The highest point will always be the point that keeps us up, and wether we already have that point time will tell.

This season, we are competing at the pinnacle, have held our own and are financially secure for the time being. Oh and some great wins too .
