Yet another away defeat
Starting to think we might not win away all next season as well.
That is an incredibly frustrating result. The team was crying out for a sub to freshen things up.
Westwood or Defour would have shut that game down.
I really do not understand why Dyche persists with players that literally offered nothing. Barnes, Boyd. Were they even playing?
Again there is positives but they are outweighed by the result again.

Its the same in the final 3rd. Nuthin there
Re: Yet another away defeat
We were always in the game, very unlucky with various shots/deflections and referee was rubbish.
Re: Yet another away defeat
Hang on a minute, we were playing a team in fantastic form and created a load of very good chances.
At the moment we are playing very well away from home.

If we'd have played like we did today against Boro and Sunderland, we'd be safe and have the away win hoodoo on the back.
Loads of positives today for me.

Re: Yet another away defeat
For large parts of the game we were the better side. The game swung on a double deflection leading to thier second, prior to that it looked like one of our best away performances.
I'm for one will not slag off Dyche, Vokes, Mee or anyone else as a knee jerk to losing away again.

Very few complaints from me today. We were unlucky and played really well and with a spirit no seen in enough away games against lesser teams than Everton.
Re: Yet another away defeat
I'd rather pick up most points at home, more people can enjoy the day then.
Can you imagine if the results were the opposite way round? It would be rubbish.

We really gave it a go today and Everton looked shell shocked first half. No chance of going down as bottom teams keep losing and we are getting better.

Did you even watch the game ? I can assume you didn't because of the nonsense you've just posted. I've got to be amongst the most critical posters on here but I thought we were superb todayNewcastleclaret93 wrote:Starting to think we might not win away all next season as well.

Since when as Defour "shut" a game down ? He can't shut his car door without pulling a hamstring.
We played really well today - the game turned on a double deflection extremely lucky goal.
We deserved a draw against one of the divisions top teams.
Instead of making inane comments about Dyche, Barnes and Boyd either say nothing or give the team the praise they deserve.

Re: Yet another away defeat
So losing 3-1 and having 30 shots against our goal is considered a good game for us.
That's a shot every 3 minutes.
Just my opinion but that was poor. We defended well but at the end of the day we have lost another away game.
Not complaining about the lads but surely everyone saw the ten minutes leading up to the goal we were getting slaughtered. Another midfielder would have tightened things up.

Matters not. All that matters is how many points we get in total.
Generally thought we were very good today against a team bang in form.

A more relevant stat is shots on target - they had 7 and we had 6.Newcastleclaret93 wrote:So losing 3-1 and having 30 shots against our goal is considered a good game for us.

We deserved at least a draw today, and when was the last time we scored a goal as flukey as their second?

Re: Yet another away defeat
We played pretty well today.
Looked good at the back again.
Put plenty of decent moves together against a very good side, & had them on the back foot for most of the first half!
Just lacking that killer touch up front which, let's face it, is similar to a lot of other teams in the lower half of the league.
We'll stay up though, because this season we deserve to.
Build from there.

You might want to take a look at Everton's home stats for 2017. Some of their fans have commented that that's one of the best performances they've seen from an away team at Goodison all season !!!Newcastleclaret93 wrote:So losing 3-1 and having 30 shots against our goal is considered a good game for us.

With the score 1-1 I said to my mate 'we need fresh legs in mid-field'as we were being overrun. As good as Dyche is, we'rw losing out on points by poor use of substutions.

Everton's results at home this year:Newcastleclaret93 wrote:That is an incredibly frustrating result. The team was crying out for a sub to freshen things up. Westwood or Defour would have shut that game down.
Everton 3 Southampton 0
Everton 4 Man City 0
Everton 6 Bournemouth 3
Everton 2 Sunderland 0
Everton 3 West Brom 0
Everton 4 Hull City 0
Everton 4 Leicester 2
Everton 3 Burnley 1
Obviously quite a lot of teams could have done with Westwood or Defour in their side.

We didn't sit back and play for a draw- we took the game to them the first half and played well.
Everton is in form and a very good squad.
Luckily for us, other results went our way today and no one made up any ground.

Would Pulis or Allardyce have got more points from this set of players away ? Would we have set up any differently ?

Re: Yet another away defeat
Considering the form that Everton have had at home recently I thought we actually gave it a go and wasn't playing for the draw.
We were the better side for the first half
We were resilient for the first 25mins of the second half
The double deflection for their second knocked us and we'd contained Lukaku for most of the game until he powered his way to that goal

Re: Yet another away defeat
Problem away from home is that we struggle to score, which basically means if the opposition get a goal then we either draw or lose. In first half Vokes had two really good chances but wasn't clinical enough to finish them. Penalty aside, which was a gift from their keeper, we created nothing in the second half.

Far too early for such negativity. There will be major incoming and outgoings this summer. We will have the budget to sign quality players.Newcastleclaret93 wrote:Starting to think we might not win next season as well.
We've played all the major UK teams this year and the list of teams we beat at home is impressive. Burnley have earned the respect of many. Let's see what season two brings but forget the negative thoughts. They will do nothing by but undermine the players.

After watching our first away game of the season I made a bet with Tall Paul that we wouldn't get more than 5 points away from home. The loser doesn't post on here again, the only reason Im still posting on here is because Dyche has no idea how to set up a PL side away from home.RalphCoatesComb wrote:Ifs and Buts...

Re: Yet another away defeat
What we lack is that little bit of quality in the final third. In the first half both Vokes and Barnes had the opportunity to put us at least one up. We seemed to switch off after the penalty. We needed to get the ball and keep it, unfortunately they did exactly that and we paid the price. If we stay up we have to bring in at least four quality players.

Re: Yet another away defeat
Much more positive today. Great performance in the 1st half where we were the better team. We mixed the play much more and played better football than recent games. The game was won after a poor bit of play from Barton and the bit of luck for Everton after that. Up to that point we looked like getting something. Lukaku then finished us off with a great bit of play although thought Keane could have done a bit better (that aside he was generally excellent).
Although it was a good performance there were still lots of problems offensively. In the first half neither wide man was available in wide areas and they were both inside and not available to get the ball or back near the full backs giving very little option other than a ball in to Vokes or Barnes. The front two were far too static and Barnes offered little apart from throwing himself on the floor. Vokes offered more but spurned a couple of good chances. Brady seemed scared to get forward and attack in wide areas in the first half. Seems like he was worried about sticking to the defensive framework too much. He got forward more in the second half in wide areas. Think he will be a good player for us but needs a bit more freedom to show what he can do. He seems scared of upsetting Dyche at the moment and is playing with the hand break on. We desperately need another striker in the summer better than what we have and some pace out wide.
Would like to have seen Gray on earlier and Defour given a go when we were behind. It was crying out for some creativity in the middle. Did not see the sense in taking Hendrix off who offers more going forward than Barton and putting Westwood (a holding player) when we were losing.
That said if we play like that in the two remaining away games we will give ourselves a good chance of actually getting the elusive away win. Enjoyed some of the football today it was much better than the Stoke game to watch.
