Paul McNeil RIP

Post by clansman » Sun Apr 16, 2017 9:26 pm

I know many clarets in the age bracket up to 35 will have known my son Paul. He was a bit of a lad daft irresponsible at times but hard working and lovely.
He was a true claret although he lived Leeds.
I'm afraid he passed away this weekend in tragic and confused circumstances. His last text to me was about burnley FC.
Please remember him in your prayers or if not that way inclined raise a glass to his memory. I'm broken-hearted as he was my first born and my memories will always be of my "little boy".
He would want his claret mates to know.
Nick

Thoughts are with you Clansman and your family.

I've known Paul for 15 or so years. He was a great lad. I have watched football with him in England and abroad, as well as attending music events numerous times in different locations. He was at both my stag do and wedding, this has gutted many of us this evening.

Had a good day with him in Liverpool a few weeks ago and was due to meet him again On Saturday.

Upset but enjoying memories tonight.

RIP Leeds Paul

I can only say what others have said and it is so, so sad.

I will ask Fr Stamp to say a Mass this week for his repose and we will all of course pray for you.

God bless.

Nick. Your son was a top lad. I have known him for over 15 years. A true claret. A unique character. Was devestated when I heard this earlier today.

He came to Balckpool for my 21st birthday on the day Burnley won 3-2 with a hattrick from Ade Akinbiyi against Luton. Although we went to Blackpool instead of the match it was one of the most memorable games we never went to :D and one of the most memorable days of my life.

A larger than life lad.

He was so passionate about Burnley FC and I have a few voice recordings he sent to me with some new songs he created for Burnley. Some of them were brilliant and others colourful shall we say  I will share them with you. We used to talk a lot and talk about how he wanted the atmosphere back at the turf and how he was delighted when we were in the CFS and competing with other clubs atmosphere wise.

Thoughts are with you at this terrible time. Its strange as in all this time I knew Paul, I never knew his family (or indeed that they posted on here) and I had this conversation with one of our mutual friends tonight.

I didnt see him as much these days but it was always an absolute pleasure when I did. Thoughts are with you at such a terrible time. If you need anything from any of his many, many friends here in Burnley just let us know.

So sorry to have 'spoken' to his dad for the first time in this way.

A recent picture I found here and one from that day in Blackpool too.

Forever young Leeds Paul

Dear Clansman
Really sorry to read this. We are in the same boat but six months ahead of you. My son was 42 and died by his own hand.
If you want to chat or email let me know and I will put my mobile on here briefly then we can chat or email later. At moment on holiday until the 22nd. Doubt you will be at the Utd game as it will be too painful for you but again if you are we could meet.
Six months on we are better but it is not a matter of getting over it but living with it. Even typing this makes me start blubbing.
Again so sorry for your loss

I never really truly appreciated the idea that the natural order of things is that children should bury their parents, not the other way 'round, until I had children myself.

It is an unthinkable idea that you should be attending your son or daughter's funeral, but for you Clansman, that unthinkable idea has become reality. For that you have my utmost sympathy. I can't and wouldn't even want to imagine the depths of your despair right now, but I hope that, given time, and the care and love of your family and friends that you and yours can climb out of the pit you must be in at the moment and enjoy your life again.
