Congratulations Brighton
Although not technically promoted barring a miraculous chain of results leading to a 9 point and 35 goal swing Brighton have all but achieved what they unfortunately missed out on last year and made it to the Premier League
Since Bloom took over some 8 years ago they have been a very well run club who have used their financial resources well getting promoted to the Championship, moving to a new stadium and making the Championship play offs a couple of times in the last 5 seasons.
Next year they will face a challenge we know all about but like us they have a good honorable manager who does things the right way and who has proved himself already as a top Championship manager.
Whether they can stay up at the first attempt im not convinced but im sure they are not worrying too much about at this moment in time and will now look to follow in our footsteps and try to clinch the title.
As said in the title of the thread congratulations Brighton and see you next season

I'm not so sure about the well run club bit, but 3 years in the premier league could wipe all their debts out.
They have a top manager and play great football so yeah, congratulations.

Very well run with £150 million of debts, a rented stadium and rented training facilities.
You keep telling yourself they're well run though.

Turf Moor was sold and rented back to the club to help the club financially.Dyched wrote:We we're in *debt and rented our ground before the promotions.

Brighton have never owned that ground, its actually owned by one of Blooms other business'.
We've actually made efforts to clear the debts and run the club in a better manner.
Brighton won't clear that £150 million in this decade unless Bloom writes it off, just like Boro didn't pay Gibson back the £80 million he had to write off a couple of years ago to comply with FFP.

Blooms gambled on promotion and its paid off. We gambled on survival. Going up wasnt part of the plan but saved us massively.
No major difference other than sums involved.
Its the club and fans i cant stand. Dont blame a dan and local man spending big sums on the team though. We would all do it if we could.

I'm pleased for Hughton who's been **** on more than once, and I do like them as a team, quite a few players we wouldn't say no to, but their arrogant sodding fans deserve bugger all.

Some sore arses in the morning has made me chuckle. Well run club it's not but it's bet the ranch & won, now the costs will really ramp up &a the debts will really mount up.
It will be one of the clubs we hope that will stumble to give us a successful 2nd season as long as we stay up this season.

The tossers on north stand chat will no doubt find this thread later and have a right sulk about it. Whats your bet they mention house prices, poverty or or the term sh!t hole when they do? They love a good boast about how "nice" their city is and how much their houses are worth on there.

Yeh, because if you call someone a puff or make a bummer joke you must definitely hate gays. Absolutely. In fact I'd go one further and say you are pretty much Hitler.
That holycustard was the biggest homophobe of the lot if I remember right. Everyone we played was a puff according to him, so hateful..

Why would you expect everyone to agree with you or think what you've written is funny or intelligent and why has what you've written on a public forum got nothing to do do with me? That's a strange thing to write. And maybe you're not homophobic, it's what you've written that leads me to think so.

True I can be sensitive on certain issues but wouldn't say I was particularly delicate. Anyway I'll continue to call people out on this. Still some attitudes I find a bit depressing, though on a football messageboard you've got all shades of humanity so it's to be expected.ClaretMoffitt wrote:Because you come across sensitive and delicate, much like a flower; I'd guess.

Re: Congratulations Brighton
Congratulations Brighton on a richly deserved promotion.
They have done brilliantly this season, particularly given the near miss last year.
They have strong infrastructure including a very highly regarded community scheme. They've also built the club up from next to nowt when they were playing at Withdean. I had the honour of meeting their ex chairman dick knight a few seasons back - a warm and dedicated football man. Funny how folks on here can't see past their perception of another football message board. I wonder how nasty and small minded Burnley fans look to anyone viewing this thread.

I'm not sure they are aware that we are in the 21st century, and that their sort of humour went out with Alfred Garnett.
They will now try to shout us down by saying we have no sense of humour, and we are in some way inferior to them .

Already bored to tears with the media love-in which started last weekend. A cretinous radio presenter was interviewed on the BBC yesterday morning and said "it's fabulous news for the city and means we won't have to travel to far flung northern towns like Accrington any more". Displayed every smug sanctimonious southern two hat stereotype imaginable, to the point that it was almost a parody. In a Kevin Keegan style, I would love it if they went straight back down.

I'm not sure what being in the 21st century has got to do with anything. We arnt living in the times of Romans either where the soldiers used to have sex with each other and was accepted in society.
It's just a bit of light hearted banter. Being a homophobe means not wanting to speak or be friends with someone because they are gay in my book. Which is clearly unacceptable. It's obvious that in today's society you have what I regard as snowflakes being all to happy to take offence on behalf of others. Go to Brighton threads about us and you find us being called neanderthal and thick. Its just water off a ducks back.

They've been **** for a bit and come up again in a posh seated ground with no atmosphere and now look down their nose at everyone else, make no noise and still think that we cheated them out of promotion as joey Barton should have been sent off for a non existent stamp.

Behaviour of their fans after we equalised last time out was disgraceful. Wasnt a minority either. Fully grown men. Pensioners with their wives in tow. Young lads. The lot of them aggresive beyond belief.
Ive been in situations at football down the years, but their behaviour in front of women and children in particular was a disgrace and as bad as ive seen. Would love to see them behave the same way when theres no safety of numbers and away from kids. Wouldnt happen though.
Hope they break derbys record low points total.
