Looks like we my be seeing a little more of Westwood or Defour than we had anticipated. Just please God don't let it be Arfield in the middle!

Burnley have run 462km more than the Red Devils this term - the same distance as Burnley to London, albeit having played two more games. Burnley's James Tarkowski tops the two teams with 15.16km per game.....
Really?
Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Would be a bit harsh on us to ban him before Sunday's fixture if we've been preparing with him all week.

Are they counting him warming up along the touchline whilst he's spent his 2days 1hr & 32mins in the bench?
Re: Barton's FA Hearing
I think they've just added up all his running stats from his 5, 10, 15 minute appearances here and there and it averages out at 15.16km per 90 minutes.Selby Claret wrote:Sky Sports news story ahead of Sunday:

Joey's hearing happening today?

He may be able to appeal the sanction if he considers it to be unduly harsh.RocketLawnChair wrote:I didn't think he could appeal because he's already accepted the charge.

Well, he can play in every position on the pitch, so perhaps he was doing them all at the same time.Selby Claret wrote:Sky Sports news story ahead of Sunday:

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Accepting a charge is usually the first step in trying to secure a light sentence, so by accepting the charges, (and co-operating with the authorities), he will have an even stronger case for launching an appeal if it is considered that the sentence is disproportionate or unduly harsh.RocketLawnChair wrote:I didn't think he could appeal because he's already accepted the charge.
Any punishment handed down to him that affects his ability to pursue his trade will be open to appeal at various levels. (That doesn't mean he will win any appeal, but a good legal team could certainly drag it out).

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
just finished reading the no nonesense book by Mr J Barton, very interesting in his thought process of how he responds/ blows up in life be it on the field or life, get the feeling on the field he is in control of him self and others around him. Off the field bit more difficult to control his and others emotions / deeds especially with drink involved. Big in sight into various managers especially some chap called Sean.
So when I see the hearing has been adjourned feel that he has questioned or got some more information re what happens in football

I wish he'd just get banned, have it over with. He's been crap for a few games a suspension would have been a blessing in disguise.

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
You have, that's what SSN have reported, but I don't think that's the case - he's already admitted them prior to the personal hearing so I assume it is adjourned as the press are reporting.BigF wrote:I am sure I. just read on Sky Sports news that the charges against Joey had been dropped.
Re: Barton's FA Hearing
I still think and have had it suggested to me that if Barton is banned it will be like a house of cards and a lot of footballers both high profile and run of the mill players will also have to be bannned. I think IN has by pleading guilty called the FA.'a bluff.

That will be some result for Barton and his legal team if accurate.

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
You cant question his work ethic and will to win but I thought his use of the ball hasn't quite been the same. I'm sure it was Barton who sloppily gave the ball away for the 2nd at Everton, I could be wrong. Possibly the hearing has affected him or maybe I'm giving him a hard run either way, I wish it would get cleared up asap and if that means he gets banned, so be it.ClaretTony wrote:I thought he was outstanding last week at Everton

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Survival is just about guaranteed so lets get him banned and get (5m) Westwood in and have a look towards next season.
Barton was brilliant in his first two games back with us and with his goal plus the injury to Marney and suspension to Hendrick his resigning has without doubt been a huge success
The trouble now is Dyche sticks to the safe option with the players he trusts to play the percentages and even though Barton has looked well off the pace and awful for some time ultimately he follows instructions to the letter so keeps his place
We have spent 5m on Westwood and if for that money Dyche cannot find an improvement on Barton then we are never gonna progress beyond a bunch of cloggers desperately trying to survive
I hope I am proved wrong but I think either Dyche cannot spend the big money on quality players and fit them into the framework or he is out of his depth with regards an eye for a player once we get into the multi million fee bracket and if this is the case as hard as it might be for some people to accept we maybe in an Adkins/Pochettino situation if we want our club to progress

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
You're presumably just living up to your user name there....right ? I mean you couldn't seriously be dissatisfied with the job Dyche is doing with our current squad in the context of the Premier League could you ?
Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Barton has (hopefully) been the final weapon, final piece in BFC surviving in the PL. He can do it again, next year.
There is not enough cash in our world to pay and bet (sorry!) on a better acquisition to fill his boots.
Westwood will grow into the role.

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Dyche has done amazing beyond all expectations but i like to judge every moment in its present. If I was part of the board at Burnley i would not contemplate anything but for offering Dyche a job for life
As a supporter and objective observer I question whether Dyche has got the talent to take us any further. When Southampton sacked Adkins it was absolutely scandalous given where they were and the job he had done but they took an opportunity to sell their club at its most attractive and find someone better who took them on to the next step.
Now i realise that they could have picked the wrong person and gone backwards and looked like idiots and thats the risk they took.
Personally id love to see Dyche grow as a manager and by doing so take us to another level but if next season ends up with players like Barnes, Boyd, Barton instead of better quality attacking players then I would rather trust the board who has served us impeccably way beyond Dyche's tenure to find the next step up from Dyche when our club is as attractive a proposition than it has probably ever been

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Barton did give the ball away sloppily for their second goal last week but let's not forget the goal was a double deflection - and it would be wrong to say he was directly at fault for the goal.
I also thought he had a very good game against Everton. He has not been up to his usual standards in the previous 3 games but you can say that about a few others also.
Prior to that Barton has been great for us - and man of the match in 2 or 3 games.
Not sure how long he can keep it going but he certainly deserves another year contract based on his performances - putting aside any ban.

But we desperately need to get this hearing out of the way asap to allow us to assess our options moving forward considering the hearing outcome will depend on whether or not he's still here next year.TVC15 wrote:Barton did give the ball away sloppily for their second goal last week but let's not forget the goal was a double deflection - and it would be wrong to say he was directly at fault for the goal.

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Struggling to see any "desperation" as you put it. Dyche seems happy to have him available and he has made an important contribution to our season.
My guess would be that the situation with Defour is more concerning for Dyche .

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
Regardless of his hearing we are much better with him involved. Last year he was superb across the midfield goals at Brentford pke etc were vital. Joey will be a big player personality and mind within the dressing room which we may need for the run in of the prem.

Re: Barton's FA Hearing
I only watch via TV but have seen every game live, Barton has played well under what must be personal pressure, he has held midfield together in absence of Marney plus helping to bring players into the side. He has been superb. If there were others to be investigated by FA for similar, I suspect there might well be, I am certain they would not be kept hanging on for as long!
Re: Barton's FA Hearing
'Lets get this hearing out of the way asap and if he gets banned so be it' Nonsense. Let's have him available for as long as possible. A very good player for us. Yes one or two sloppy passes lately but also vital tackling, interceptions and a leader on the pitch.
